Re: Unrecognized Reject Actions

I'm sure it was the 1978 German GP where Stommelen and Hunt and maybe a couple of others were disqualified for going into the pits the wrong way.Was there some sort of unusual pit lane entry configuration that year?It seems fairly easy to do-enter pit lane, drive down it...

Re: The reject youtube thread

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEbVrjLDMTk Now Gilles doesn't count as a reject, but forgetting where the start is? Even if it's a bit oddly put halfway around the circuit.... and then some drivers slow for their grid slots, others avoid them. It's amazing how shambolically the grids of the 70s and 8...

Re: Unrecognized Reject Actions

And lets not forget the 1979 US GP W,where for reasons known best to themselves, the starting line was halfway round the track. I think it was Hunt or Villeneuve failed to stop at the line.Cue confusion with some cars trying to stop and others nearly crashing into them, other cars wanting to stop but ...

Re: Unrecognized Reject Actions

Perry McCarthy's book Flat Out Flat Broke is well worth a read for classic reject moments. I love this one on the day of prequalifying, when he realized no-one was coming to pick him up and he had to be at the circuit in 45 minutes-so rang the team at the circuit. 'Hi it's Perry here-no-one's shown u...

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers

Most really bad drivers are then by definition unlikely to be forgottenn about. The forgettable ones pootle round at the back of the grid in about 16th or 17th not impressing anyone or having major shunts or creating havoc. How about Pascal Fabre? Spent a whole year running round the back of the pac...

Re: RIP Henry Surtees

Terrible news The worst bit is the total randomness--watching the video you see the cars pass by as the wheel bounces-half a second one way,it's the car in front or behind,it just happens to be his that it gets. RIP-condolences to all the Surtees clan. It's awful having lived through the 50s and 60s ...

Re: Only in a game.....

I managed to excel myself playing Formula 1 '97. It was an incredibly close finish as we went over the line and I just came second...As the results sheet gave full times and not just gaps to the leader,I was credited second with a race time something like 0.125 quicker than that of the winner. ..

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers

And how about Al Pease: disqualified from a Grand Prix for being too slow. When you're that awful they won't even let you race with other people, that's bad Hans Heyer: failed to qualify but decided to turn up and race anyway. To be able to ignore the racing authorities, get into the pit lane and set...
