Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Discussion Thread
Late to the party here, and asking a question that I could probably find the answer to elsewhere, but has it been explained why the race was re-started with a rolling start after the red flag rather than a grid start like Monza and Mugello last year?

Re: Reject of the Race - Bahrain 2021
Mazepin, on the basis of the evidence currently available, is a throwback to the glory days of reject-dom gone by. Qualifying dead last, having spun twice in Q1, before spinning himself into retirement at turn 3 on the first lap? That sort of performance is the reason this website exists. I love him...

Re: 2020 Austrian Grand Prix Discussion
What I don't understand is why Mercedes didn't order Hamilton in front of Bottas to open up enough of a gap to keep him in 2nd. The only thing I can think of is the optics of the first car over the line not winning the race, being seen to be manipulating the result, stuff like that, but since when h...

Re: Reject of the Race - China 2018
Has to be Max Verstappen IMO, first he blew his chance of the race win with his impatient, one in a million attempt on Hamilton that was never going to end well, then he blew Red Bull's chance of a 1-2 with a crazy lunge on Vettel. After the incident in Bahrain which led to his retirement, a theme s...

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
I've been meaning to do this for days, and was going to post a whole big analysis of each track, but to allow the game to move on let me state here that I'd give 1st place to The Flying Caterham - although personally I think it would be even better run clockwise!

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
Huzzah! I guess I have to set a challenge now, so let's go for quite a simple one: Capital Gains: Design a street circuit in the capital city of any country not hosting a Formula 1 race in 2018. I'll allow up to 1km of new construction, and I'd like the total length to be at least 4km (2.5 miles). S...

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
For my first entry in this thread in literally years, I present the Chobe River International Circuit ! The track is partly purpose-built and partly makes use of public roads - some of which will have to be widened and tarmacked in order to create the circuit. The pit straight begins almost on the r...

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Hungary
As mentioned, a lot of candidates for ROTR but I personally would give it to Mercedes drivers - it's as if they've got so used to just driving away from the rest of the field that they've forgotten how to drive in the pack and go wheel to wheel. There was a sign of this at Silverstone too, when Hami...

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
Just to say, I'm away this weekend so you'll have until Sunday to post entries (it's usually 7 days Ugncreative, is that right?) It's two days after the last entry, so tomorrow morning, officially. Ah, OK, I'd better get my thinking cap on then. (As previously noted, the last time I won this thing ...

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
peteroli, I'm afraid your entry doesn't count because it hasn't used the kart track at all - or even the land it's built on - but only the land next to it. It shouldn't take too much modification to make it legal though.

Existing track can be widened, straightened, bypassed etc. Really I just meant use the location of a kart track as a basis for a brand new creation.

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
Get in! I was quite proud of this one when designing it, but I didn't want to say so in my original post for fear of appearing arrogant... I think 2012 was the last time I won a challenge in this thread, so happy days indeed! Anyway, I am now the challenge setter, so let's have a go at this: Extend ...

I still think - and I believe I've said this on the forums before, albeit some years ago - that it was Hockenheim 2010 rather than Hungary 2009 that finished Massa off as a top line driver. I'm sure he could have lived with and probably beaten Raikkonen in the second half of 2009 had he not had the ...

Re: 2016 Silly Season Thread
Meanwhile, the news from Germany keeps getting worse. It looks like it's gonna be the next country to lose free-to-air F1 coverage . The amount of countries that have the entire season live and free-to-air has shrunk considerably now. Only Azerbaijan, China, Israel, Macedonia, Russia, Slovenia, Spa...

Re: F1 Rejects Track Designing Competition
What's the point in golf courses? They're just big, privately owned patches of land occupied by badly-dressed men hitting balls with sticks. Wait a minute... big, privately owned patches of land? Sounds like the perfect place for a racetrack! So, in my parallel universe I've bought out Boldon Golf C...
