No it wasn't, it's just that I was there (working in F3000) and I remember hearing it.

Anyways, here's an easy question to re-activate this thread which has been a bit dormant since moving.

As well as Ascari, which other F1 driver put a car in the harbour at Monaco?

True: 26th May. 1955 & 1969. Both having survived their Monaco accidents.

Here's another one:

When the Jordan cars were showed at Phoenix for round 1 of the 1991 season, being the team in its rookie season, Alan Henry made a remark about the car that really caught the attention of Eddie Jordan. So much so, in fact, that he was offering a deal to Henry about it. Now, what was the remark about, and in what did the deal consist?

Was it the livery, the lovely green

Or a sponsor? I think I read something very similar in an F1 Racing mag this year, as it's 20 years since their debut season
Miserable Thierry (Boutsen) staggers round mostly on ten cylinders (out of 12) with no clutch, low oil pressure, bad brakes and no grip to finish tenth, 3 laps down...

(Murray Walkers review of Boutsen's Brazil 1991 race).

Thats a point these days!

The Green livery was quite like the cover design colour of MotorSport Magazine for whom Henry was writing at the time.

It's something like that, but not with 7Up. As a clue, the deal never took off.

Nope.

As a clue, it had to do with the blue at the bottom of the car.

It wasnt UBS or something like that.

Edit: I researched and found the answer

A clue: This sponsor is CURRENTLY involved in Formula 1, in a small but large way.

Phoenix did say the deal never took off

so Tic Tac, Fuji etc are all ruled out.

Its actually a really good question.

Alan Henry is a journo too.

Not Allianz, but can understand with the blue.

Another clue (hope Phoenix dont mind!) The First Grand Prix of the 1991 season was at Phoenix, USA, so there is a huge huge chance that this backer would come from the States.

Bingo!

I think it goes the line that Henry saw the blueis similar to the AT&T blue, and he did comment that to Eddie Jordan. Jordan asked Henry to chase that potential sponsor to no avail.

Current F1 sponsor in a small but large way.

AT&T is the title sponsor of Williams, yet gets little space on the car!

In 1995, three drivers finished in the points in all the races they completed. Who were they?

Who scored their first career points at Germany 1995 for 5th place?

Whose car burst into flames on the slow-down lap of the same race?

Who was the driver Jenson Button overtook with only a handful of laps left at Brazil 2000 for 7th place? ( which became 6th after a disqualification ahead of him)?

Which driver was DQ'd from 6th place at Australia 2000, handing Zonta his first F1 point?

Why did the Sauber team pull out of Brazil 2000?

Enough for now. Someone will probably answer these pretty easily l

Sauber in Brazil had two rear wing failures and were the first team to pull out on safety grounds for yonks.

Mika Salo was disqualified.

Button overtook Verstappen I think? To become the youngest points-scorer of course.

Coulthard, Hill and Alesi scored points in every race they finished.

The driver who scored points for 5th in Germany was Jean-Christophe Boullion.

And Wizzie, in 1995, Brundle was alternating with Aguri Suzuki, not Katayama.

I could have sworn Schumacher scored points in every race he finished in 1995 as well as the three mentioned - his lowest finish IIRC was 5th in Canada after he was delayed. He was on the podium in all the others, or retired.

Hector Rebaque, Lotus 79. It's not the Rebaque HR100 because it's the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. To be fair, they were very similar, mechanically and aerodynamically.

Silvio Moser, Bellasi. Not sure where. The number is odd, very high. Is it in a hillclimb, by any chance?
