Re: IIDOTR - Hungary 2011
Paul Di Resta: did NOT see him finishing 7th before the race, thought Sutil would be the F.India car to score the points.
Honourable mentions:
Buemi - Typical Toro Rosso drive. Back of the grid to solid points finish.
Kovalainen - Some might be surprised. But before his retirment, spent the whole race fighting the Saubers, Williams and Renault cars. Really is a top driver in a poor team.

1. Buemi for a well driven race, fighting back from the last row.
2. Di Resta for keeping it on the track and driving home in seventh place.

1. Di Resta - 7th? Really? Usually he finds some way to ruin it.
2. Buemi - 8th from 23rd. Although I am starting to expect both Toro Rossos to do it more often now.

Re: IIDOTR - Hungary 2011
my nominations:
1. Kovalainen.
He was way higher than he should be ON MERIT at the early parts, which goes to show that on the wet Lotus is nothing to sneer at. Unfortunately the weather dried out and eventually his car broke down, but an impressive drive from him regardless.
2. Di Resta.
I admit, that was impressive.
Honorable mention to the Merc team. It was a good showing, especially their start was downright epic. Schuey even got to lead for a few precious moments!

Toro Rosso did admit that they'd spent the whole race weekend essentially setting Buemi's car up to do that (he only used one set of the harder compound tyres during qualifying so he'd have as many fresh sets of tyres available to him as possible), and we know that Toro Rosso have taken advantage of the extra pace of their fresher tyres to make up ground. To give Buemi credit, he did drive a sensible race, but he did have the advantage of fresher tyres, which must have helped him undercut quite a few of his rivals.
I'm tempted to give the award to Di Resta - in the early stages, he was threatening Massa for 6th place (he was ahead of Massa in the early stages at one point, but Massa got back ahead on strategy), and withstood a fair amount of pressure in the closing laps as Buemi caught him. Considering that Di Resta was also under increasing pressure from within the team to cut down on his errors, it would have been fairly easy for him to become flustered in the tricky conditions, but he drove well today.
So, from me, I'll also go with 1. Di Resta and 2. Buemi

Re: IIDOTR - Hungary 2011
The thing for Toro Rosso is that they don't seem to be able to make their DRS perform well -this was evident in the latter stages of the race, when they were chasing Kobayashi and they couldn't make any ground in the straights. They gain very little speed when activating the DRS; this is a handicap during the race, but it's even worse during qualifying, when the DRS is allowed in the full track. The result is that they can't qualify much higher than 17th and 18th, even if they try, but they still have a better car than Williams and more or less on par with the likes of Sauber and Force India, so it completely makes sense for them to save tyres (Lotus is still too far behind to be a menace).
Go home, Bernie Ecclestone!

1. Buemi - for making the "Drop-out-in-Q1" strategy a viable one once again.
2. di Resta - The Flying Scotsman comes home with a good finish for once, running a race of his own. Now if only we could see more of that...

1) Paul di Resta: Showing up his teammate, demonstrating a rather subdued race to some decent points.
2) Sebastien Buemi: Made the most of his sets of tyres, beating Mercedes, Sauber and Renault in the process.

1. Buemi -- Tyre advantage or not, he did a brilliant job to get from 23rd to 8. STR are genuine challengers to Force India and Sauber in results if not in pace, but results are what matter.
2. di Resta -- A result like this has been coming for a while, but he kept it on the road, avoided Hamilton, and managed to stop fate from conspiring against him.
Honourable mention to Kovalainen. He wasn't swamped by Heidfeld, Sutil and Perez and had the Lotus in 15th on merit. Good job from him before the car let him down (again).

Re: IIDOTR - Hungary 2011
1) Buemi - How did he go from 23rd to 8th without any attention from the cameras at all? When I saw his name on the timing board in the last few laps I assumed he was on a Sauber-esque pit strategy.
2) The Hungaroring - The Hungar-snore-ring providing a great race has to be an almost improbable event, easily the most exciting race there that I can remember, and possibly one of the best this year, which is obviously no mean feat.
Honourable mentions go to Di Resta and Ricciardo.

Di Resta and Buemi. The latter showed that it is probably an advantage to miss Q2 this year if you are a midfield team...
