BBC/Sky Suggestions
BBC/Sky Suggestions
Well I am pretty sure most people are fed up about all this TV malarky, and we know the reason why the BBC are getting rid of the F1 to cut costs.
But to be honest there are many cost cutting methods that they could have otherwise done.
I just want to hear what people would do if they were a part of the BBC finances and what they would cut.
Heres my list:
Get rid of Pointless (that quiz TV show)
Whenever there is a celebrity quiz and the money gets given to a charity. Then to top it off they probably get another £1000
You dont need that many people to go to the F1 weekend, cut down a bit
You can complain about this post or delete it. Im just angry. I know its stupid when there is suffering around the world but BBC have cocked up again.

Well clearly they needn't have paid however much for that competitor to X Factor.
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

Here's an idea: the BBC should broadcast the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix the way the Australian broadcaster, Channel Ten does. This is what I get at the moment:
- No coverage of free practice
- No coverage of qualifing
- Delayed telecast on all races
- Regular commercial breaks (including the phrase "the race is just getting interesting, so let's take a commercial break!")
- No pre-race show
- No post-race analysis
- Idiot commentators
After the Belgian Grand Prix, we'll all come back and re-assess. And you'll see that the BBC's planned coverage for 2012 will still be better than anything Australia has ever had.
So for the love of God, stop whinging about it!

Or, alternatively, stop reading threads about other people's TV coverage if you know they're going to annoy you.

No... why? Poor you, down there, doesn't mean that people can't complain when the coverage they have gets partially screwed.
Even here in Norway we complained when they moved F1 from a channel everyone had, to pay-tv. Even though, on the free channel, we only got the race, and with ads. Now we have all three practices, qual, and race, and replays, without any ads. And we get an one hour highlight broadcast on the good old free(with ads) channel later. However that highlight broadcast sucks.
For the big fans, coverage is much better. For the normal Average Joe, F1 is long gone, or on illegal streams. That doesn't really help the quality of the Norwegian coverage. Not to mention the fact that a large part of the population (me included) have no chance to get that channel!
And that might happen in UK as well... So let them complain, and, well, put a "bapple" in you mouth while reading threads you know you don't like (or unplug the keyboard if you want).
Oh and, I will really not do it for the love of 'God'.
Re: BBC/Sky Suggestions
Cut salaries at the top (I.e those earning over £200,000, or less if your feeling heartless) Dont make ersatz X-factor shows (why watch an x-factor knock of when you can watch the actual x-factor?), cut spending on the Olympics coverage (we dont need anything till much nearer the time), not move to a new TV studio. Maybe also axe BBC 3 as well.
I know its brief and lacking detail but thats off the top of my head.

Re: BBC/Sky Suggestions
I actually like Pointless.
BBC3 ok, its for single mums , with the occasional Seth McFarlane fan thrown in (I am one of these , no, not a single mum you numpty!)
Nothing will come of telling the BBC what to do, its already been done, and suggesting that they ditch other things that the general public (not all of them die-hard f1 fans who want f1 on the hour every hour) is even sillier.
The world is bathplugged, somethings got to give, even all these unions up in arms about job losses, some of them are going to lose theirs.
Its also worth noting that not ALL the BBC's output is from "the concrete doughnut", its been that way for nearly 20 years now, if they were to keep hold of the coverage properly someone like "Endemol" could have handled it, but its obvious that this wasn't the outcome.
Of course we're up in arms about those bathpluggers at sky taking the majority of what our eyes want, some will be stupid enough to pay for it, they say its going to be "groundbreaking" and it wont be, just look at their A1GP coverage, especially from Brands Hatch, especially the first EVER race at Brands Hatch.
Groundbreaking means a studio at the racetrack, and that was in 1997.

Re: BBC/Sky Suggestions
How much does Pointless cost to air, and what significantly more profitable thing would you put in its place? It's 4.30 in the afternoon. That's peak quiz time viewing. And for a quiz, it's not half bad.
There are ways to cut costs at the BBC. People know what they are. The management by and large aren't interested. Not hiring someone who commutes from Kentucky to oversee the move to Salford for example. Leave Pointless alone.

I'm assuming you don't get ONE HD in your area, as they (usually - MotoGP takes preference when the two clash) show qualifying and the race live. There's also a pre-race show and post-race analysis, however I don't recommend watching these, as it seems like they are just reading directly from the F1 news section of Autosport with the occasional phone call to James Allen.
This is a cool spot.

No, I don't get OneHD. I don't have a (working) set-top box.
