The return of Coloni?

Post by tristan1117 »

I think this has been mentioned before, but did anyone see the name a certain GP2 team? I'm talking about Coloni! It appears Coloni is making a return to feeder series'. Scuderia Coloni for 2010 grid slot. By the way, which team did they take over?

Fisichella Motorsport. And Coloni had been in partnership with FMS the whole time the team existed. Coloni has merely bought total control of the team now.

There are plenty of reject teams that could theortically make comebacks. Aside from the manufacturers Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and de Tomaso, there are (I've done a bit of research):

Eifelland - http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... %26hl%3Den

Fondmetal - http://www.fondmetal.com/index.php?lang=en

HWM - http://www.hwmastonmartin.co.uk/hwm-ast ... istory.asp

Lec - http://www.lec.co.uk/

Rial - http://rial.de/rial/index.php?option=co ... Itemid=129

Stebro - http://stebro.net/html/Default.aspx?PageMenuID=1272

Veritas - http://www.vermot-ag.com/

I think Osella still exist in some shape or form as well, so perhaps they should get together with Fondmetal again and bring back some good old 1980s/early 90s nostalgia.
My favourite teams: Minardi, Forti, Osella

Veritas used to race in F1? wow, never knew that.

And that link made my iPod crash!!! Damn you...

And I thought the automotive part of De Tomaso had folded, and they just made rubbish watches now?

Actually, Coloni was just Coloni before they merged with Fisichella's team at the end of the 2005 GP2 season. I followed their progress at the first GP2 season, they had Mathias Lauda and HWNSNBM's teammate, Gianmaria Bruni. Bruni actually won a race back then. They had a kick-ass website too.

No, they don't want to go back to F1. Seriously.

More or less. Veritas Meteors were privately entered by German drivers in the German grands prix in the early 50s. They were, of course, rather uncompetitive, and never scored a point.

Dunno about the watches. They're being liquidated, and they're selling the trademarks and the rights to produce the cars on an auction. Funnily, nobody seems to want to buy it (resurrecting a dead sports car marque amidst the global recession doesn't seem like an awesome idea).

All I really know is that Elvis Presley once owned a de Tomaso and shot it when it wouldn't start. Truly reject.

Yes, I've heard that as well. Elvis was reject all the way.

LOOOL Coloni has been an utter farce this weekend.
All their cars, transporters etc. have been impounded on behalf of Andy Soucek's lawyers and coz the team missed Quali, Zuber and Razia can't race even if they get the cars back!

Something tells me that Coloni won't be doing F1 any time soon. They picked a really bad time to buy FMS' half of the team back...

And here I was thinking Fisichella would enter his own team "à la Fittipaldi/Merzario" in a couple years...

I suppose, given that FMS still has a team in Euro 3000 (which is currently leading that championship), it's still theoretically possible. Probably unlikely given events of the last week though.

The Belgian courts have no lifted their injunction; Coloni are free to race. Because of his lisstle stunt, it's unlikely Andy Soucek will get a drive in GP2 or Formula One any time soon, if ever.
