F1 Driver, Dave McFaste has died at the age of 31, McFaste was involved with Dave Simpson in a seemingly minor accident but complained of a headache after leaving the medical centre and was found lying on the floor naked by a maid in his hotel room. A post mortem will be carried out later today, but a brain haemorrhage is likely to be the cause of death. A reply of the crash shows an object striking Dave McFaste when he hit the wall, but no signs of damage where on the helmet. The F1RWRS nor the race organisers have commented so far.
Autosport wrote:HRT and GRM to tribute Dave McFaste
After the shocking news of Dave McFaste's passing, Mark Skaife and Garry Rogers announced that for the next two races, their teams will tribute the driver by painting all of their cars black. "To see the first death in F1RWRS competition is quite a shock," said Skaife, HRT's team principal. "I give condolences to his family, and to his team members. HRT would like to pay their respects to Dave by running a completely black livery for the next two races." Garry Rogers said shortly afterwards that GRM would also do something similar, but they are in a slightly worse spot financially than HRT, so they will simply be recolouring their current livery, changing the white to black. Frank Zimmer also announced that he would have a special black helmet for the rest of the year, including the Indy 500.
Daniel Melrose wrote:First of all I would like to send my condolences to Dave's family and to the FAT Turbo team. This is a truly tragic day as Dave was one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. I had a similar experience last year after my race-ending shunt at Laguna Seca which meant the news of this incident was particularly chilling for me. MRT will run a sponsorless livery with a black nosecone for the rest of the season as a tribute to Dave in both the F1RWRS and F2RWRS while Horizon will run with black highlights instead of red highlights.

My sincere condolences to his family and other loved ones. It shows that the battle for safety is a neverending one. Now, let's get the press conference under way. There, the reporter to the very right?

As far as the Chinese law enforcement and myself are concerned, this case is closed once and for all. Next question, please?

Kay Lon wrote:Not really, since it's not their fault. I mean, success breeds jealousy. Now, since I don't feel there will be any questions regarding my outstanding performance in the Chinese Grand Prix, this was the final question. I'd like to thank you for having been here and to all my fans: there is still a small number of "Best In The World"-shirts available on the official Castrol Jones Racing homepage.
Dave Simpson wrote:Absolutely devastated about what happened to Dave McFaste today. RIP mate. My sincere condolences go to all of his family and friends, as well as everyone involved with FAT Turbo Racing. My view on the collision is that it was a racing incident - there just wasn't enough room for the two cars to pass by myself in the pit exit lane. The race organisers need to change the pit exit before the F1RWRS comes back here, as it was just too unsafe for such high powered cars.
Autosport wrote:F1R Council to launch inquiry into McFaste Accident
The F1 Rejects Council is to launch an inquiry into the fatal accident which befell FAT Turbo driver Dave McFaste. The accident, which occurred on lap 33 of the Chinese Grand Prix also involved Portuguese driver Daniel Martins and Australian Dave Simpson who was exiting the pitlane at the time. The accident was judged a racing incident by the stewards and the council is not expected to review that decision based on available evidence. The inquiry is expected to focus on the tight Shanghai pit exit, which numerous complaints have been made about in the past both by F1RWRS drivers and drivers in other motorsport categories that have raced at the track, as well as the driver protection provided by the monocoque as by design the cockpit sides on the F1RWRS cars are 50mm lower than on F1 cars to aid with visibility.
The inquiry is also expected to draw evidence from a similar accident at last year's United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca where Daniel Melrose got airbourne off the start, had his head clip the rear wing of another car and come to a rest a few hundred meters down the track. Like McFaste at Shanghai, the medical center there cleared Melrose with only a headache before he collapsed at the track several hours later and was airlifted to a hospital in San Francisco. The inquiry is to begin this Wednesday and is expected to be concluded the week after the Budweiser 500.

I could never imagined a win could taste so bitter. I feel so sorry for his team and family and the whole F1RWRS crowd are with them at the moment. I was just lapping Daniel Martins when it happened, but it seemed like a totally innocent tangle to me, and it happened at a ridicously low speed. Dave exited the pitlane normally and they both arrived side by side to the first corner and hit the brakes as usual. McFaste wanted to pass Simpson there and Simpson gave all the room he could and McFaste just went a little bit to far and they tangled, but I don´t think we race at more than 100 kph there... The doctors said it had to do with his illness but why let him race in the first place then? We have to take measures because we´re giving an awful exposure of our sport then.
Now, if you excuse me, I gotta go back to the hospital
The Fox wrote:Deeply saddened by Dave's death today. It seems to be that Mr. Martins seems to have caused the now-fatal collision, so we'll put on our cars for the remainder of the season "For Dave" on the sidepods of our cars. All our thoughts are on Dave McFaste's friends and family today.

A new team for next year?
Rumours have started circulating about a possible new entry for next year F1RWRS. British F3 team, Mitie Aviation Racing, have been secretly attending the last two races with several team members. There is strong talk in British F3 that the team are looking to buy out another outfit, but at the moment, this is just a rumour. One problem though, is the team are unfamilar with the rules for F1RWRS.

I saw the accident in front of me, having being overtaken by McFaste and it seemed Simpson didn't realized Dave was there so they hit each other in an otherwise usual race incident. There was nothing special about it and no one could've have guessed what would happen later. Nevertheless I must ask that, if Dave complained about headaches, why wasn't he taken to an hospital as a precaution? After all he had just crashed! Motosport is still dangerous and despite becoming safer over the years people cannot relax safety wise.

Saeed Al Faisal will drive for the team and I think Dave McFaste would have liked Hagane Shizuka to race for the rest of the season. I would request that Dave McFastes number be retired, and that we have a minutes silence before the race.

Having been arrested at Shanghai Airport by Chinese Authorities, F1RWRS driver Kay Lon has been sensationally sacked from the Castrol Jones Racing team with whom he has driven for the majority of this season.
Team owner Sammy Jones had this to say on the situation,
"It's bloody ridiculous, Kay is obviously a very talented driver but Christ he gets himself into far too much trouble. As I said following the race on Sunday, should things escalate with him and the authorities, it would leave me no option but to dismiss him from the team. The decision was a difficult one for me, as I said, there's no questioning his talent behind the wheel, but having just had a phone call from Embassy Tobacco telling me they were going to pull out of the deal which would have seen them sponsoring us next season because of all this disgraceful publicity, I've literally got no option but to get rid of him. I'm afraid I simply cannot have a driver who is so entangled with issues outside of racing that it jeopardises my own team.
"I'm immediately looking for a replacement for the final two rounds of the season, and should they impress, they'll be handed a contract to drive for next year. Sponsorship isn't necessary, but would be welcome. As for Kay Lon, I wish him well for the future, and thank him for the valuable contribution he's brought to the team this year."

After Autosport has reported that Kay Lon was arrested, many news sources willingy picked up the story and ran with it, culminating in Lon being released by his team.
However, Kay Lon was found by Fuji TV reporters in a cheap hotel in Kumamoto. Asked about being arrested, he was very confused. Being informed about the Autosport article, he was speechless for a minute before loudly swearing in multiple languages, including English, German and at least two Spanish insults.
The question is, how will the media reports affect Lon's future career and what will happen to Autosport for this hoax?

Saeed Al Faisal offers services to Castrol Jones Racing
Saeed Al Faisal has admitted to us that he has contacted Castrol Jones Racing once he knew of Kay Lon being sacked, he said to us, "FAT Turbo Racing has folded, even if that overexcited driver Barii Mori wants to continue the team, my friend Dave has gone and I fell that FAT should cease to be and I need to race for a top team.
