Nelson Piquet in Manor F1?

Post by Eduardo Oliveira »

Since Bernie and Max are searching sponsors for the Manor F1 tilt, could they be looking for drivers as well?

"- Listen Nelson, give us Flavio Briatore head in a silver tray, and we will give you a F1 seat for 2010!"

Could this be the way that the brasilian Zorro gets revenge of the evil Briatore?

Piquet's finnished - he's slow, and whichever way you look at it he cheated.
"will you stop him playing tennis then?", referring to Montoya's famous shoulder injury, to which Whitmarsh replied "well, it's very difficult to play tennis on a motorbike"

If they're really out to help Manor, why tie an anchor around the team's waist?

Not to mention the fact that he then blew the whistle on the team.

...out of spite, only after he was fired. That tells quite a lot about the ethic principles of the young fellow.

Piquet's done, even if he throws a billion dollars at the team.

Piquet and Soucek to be teammates at Manor. They'd spend the whole season trying to force each other out.

Also, a second thought, but why not Alguersuari to Campos? He's got the Spanish appeal, is young, and couldn't do much worse than driving around in a second-hand Red Bull.

+1. This would free up a seat at STR for Taku!

No one will touch Piquet now he's being sued and has revealed himself to be a scumbag, he could give a team enough money to bail out the US economy and they'd turn him down.

What Piquet does in his private life should be no one's business. But he is a mediocre driver who thinks too high of himself and embarassed himself in Singapore, so these facts should be the reason he is in disgrace not that.

Wasn't there a pilot who tried to come up with similar allegations about Ayrton Senna? A Brazilian one? I seem to remember it. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it might have been Nelson Piquet himself.

Well remember what Piquet's father used to do to Mansell? Obviously Junior's been taking more than just driving lessons from Daddy.

well to be fair, ol 'stache himself claimed that Prost did it to him too, and that it was McLarens fault he sucked in 95 etc.

If he was beaten by a teamie, he blame everyone but himself.

Speaking of Manor, they might go for a strong 2010 ROTY contender: Antionio Pizzonia. He just made a statement that he is negotiating his way back into F-1.

There is more chance that Manor would give the seats to Jan Lammers and Al Pease.

The ultimate proof that Piquet's career is over, maybe even outside F1.

I can't imagine what team would pass up the chance to take on a slow accident-prone whiny little bitch of a driver that gives up all your nasty little secrets when he gets fired for being crap. Yeah he's a real goddamn catch!

I'd rate my own chances of getting a race seat at Manor GP higher than Piquet Jr.'s - I have never crashed a car in my life*, have probably spun fewer times, have enough sense not to follow an instruction simply because it's been given to me by someone rather scary and give employers fair warning before complaining about their behaviour to the outside world. Plus I live three train stations from their base of operations, which Nelson doesn't.

The fact that I can't drive for toffee doesn't seem that much of a disadvantage under the circumstances...

* - I've never driven a car in my life (unless you count an arrive-and-drive kart, in which case I've crashed one about seven times...)

I don't know why a driver as good as Adam Carroll wants to drive a Manor. I think he should be in a Williams.

My pairing for Manor would be Trulli and Kovalainen. Experience and youth - and both race winners at that. But that might not happen, since Manor are reportedly looking for a pay driver, since John Booth had come out and said he would be considering Nelsinho if he brought sponsorship. Of course afterwards, a spokesperson from Virgin came out and said they would not hire him.

I hope the team keeps their name Manor and Virgin are just title sponsor. Virgin Manor Cosworth sounds so much better than just Virgin GP because it sounds more like something silly like Playboy Mansion ;-)
"I don't think we should be used to finance (the manufacturers') R&D because they will produce that engine anyway" said Monisha Kaltenborn.
"You will never see a Mercedes using a Ferrari engine or the other way round."
