The Sun wrote:THE ITALIAN JOB: $1 BILLION CONTRACT FOR DAGNALL?
The Sun has learned exclusively that likely 2015 F1RWRS entrant Scuderia Alitalia want to bring reigning champion Mark Dagnall to their team, but will have to tempt him away from his successful family team first.
Their plan? Offer him a ONE BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR contract. With backing from Italian car maker Lancia, big sponsorship bucks from Alitalia, and other top-line sponsors, they are a team not short on cash, but even this much is a jaw-dropping amount for an F1RWRS driver. It is expected Dagnall would become the figurehead of Lancia's new attempt to expand their profile across the world and increase the number of conventional car sales.
While father Chris was unable to win the F1RWRS title, Mark won the championship in his rookie season, and already has a pair of second places to his name this season, putting him at the top of the championship so far this season.
If the ambitious bid for Mark Dagnall fails, Alitalia are thought to be interested in Dave Simpson, who recently left the ailing Prospec Racing team.

STARTING GRID
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/Aerond/Gp2/F1RWRS2014/05_LongBeach/US_Grid-1.jpg)
RACE
After 5 races, and some 1500 kms. of racing, it has become clear that, unless mayhem, it will be Mark Dagnall against any of the MRT drivers (most likely Nathanael Spencer) for the title this year. The DGN driver has found a strong position within his own team, and seems to have no rival inside the box whoever seats at car number 2. It became clear when he passed Fleet at lap 2 that he´s the number one and that he´ll receive that treatment for the rest of the year. The DGN couldn´t match the MRT at Long Beach, and that´s why Mark Dagnall followed a non-usual 2 stops strategy. It almost paid off thanks to a braking fault in Spencer´s car, which put him behind the DGN a couple of laps into the race. Spencer had to do his best to stay ahead of the DGN at his last pitstop, and while he managed to do so, it left a sensation that his insecurity (remember the accident at Bathurst) could lead him to trouble when it comes to win the championship. Nicolas was way unluckier, he could have won if his car didn´t break once again.
Further back the field, and looking at those able to win races, the two we´re expecting most to deliver (that is Sunshine and Gillet) failed miserably in California. Kay Lon did a decent first half of the race, but a loose wheel (blame on Sunshine mechanics) robbed him a podium place. Moll and de Bock´s Gillet failed once again. Moll was unable to pass Ben Fleet to attack Kay Lon, meaning he lost a precious time he wouldn´t have been able to recover.
On its part, Jones had a good weekend after their dreadful round in Mexico. Melrose fought in the group behind the leaders, and only Steele´s amazing pace meant he was out of the podium. The Jones team played a beautiful strategy play when he passed Fleet at the stops, but he lacked the pace to content the Kamaha driver, who suffered problems early on and had to pit, only to comeback stronger and pass practically the whole field to score his second podium finish of the season. Kamaha is not a surprise anymore and now they´ve turned into serious contenders to step into the elite of F1RWRS.
Arrowtech also scored points at this race, this time in hands of Bosevic, whose car didn´t fail this time and allowed him to score points after trying hard in the first few races. The rest of the finishers weren´t really much of a surprise, special kudos to Andrea Acuri for making it in his first outing. And basically, there were retirements here and there in this race. Most of the mid and back of the field didn´t make it, reminding us of the first races in 2013. ARC had another really bad weekend, with Jesus Plaza suffering a stupid accident when he was trying not to get in the way of the leaders, for that he earns the ROTR award. The other contenders were HRT, if they keep like that, they could well earn it in Monaco. The other driver suffering an accident was Jean Luc Schiller. His debut was really short lived, and it´s a pity, as he had made a great start only to clash with Douglas Mann.

Think of it this way: If we didn't prequalify, we could have just buggered off to watch the F3RWRS at Laguna Seca for the rest of the weekend

As you didn´t specify, I just had to make that up. The truth is his passport says Jason Giovanni Van Dycke, and that his manager thought using just Jason would be better for marketing in F1RWRS.

Hm, i thought that his antics at Larousse and the Cillit-Bang Trabant, combined to his stalking of Pippa Mann would be enough to know him...
As his name is a made up combination of random people out of my 'friends list' (like all my drivers)but as he is fictional, i guess that if you want to call him Jason, then you gotta call him Jason...

Just make sure that if you ever link to a wiki, you can give stats and stories whatever you want, just make sure it is mentioned that he is 'probably the same person as Gio Van Dycke' (his wiki will be made after the 2014 season, as planned)
I don't know what i want and i want it now!
Re: F1RWRS -- 2014 - Onwards
Interesting PreQ session after the RGR adjustment.
Acuri continued showing that they aren´t a piece of cake. This time Prospec didn´t fail to pass but they´ll keep on PreQ for Monaco and the other cars aren´t very far behind. Now Mitie, Mecha and Trueba seem to be able to qualify along with Dofasco. Trueba has a lot of money to spend, so they could well jump to the head of PreQ if they receive the needed updates. It seems Shonan is still behind, but with Pay-Driver money coming in they should be able to try something in the future. Tropico is still hopeless, but we have to have in count that they´re receiving Pay-Driver money at a double rate than the rest and could well make a step forward or two in the future.

You still did the best, Francois, and for the press: Van Dyke's name is Gio, not Jason. He might have a Jason mask-ish helmet design, but that doesn't mean his name is Jason too.

EDIT: I'd like the credits to be spent on chassis speed, thank you. And no thanks, after some deliberation I'll keep The Stig onboard. But beware, because James May has expressed his desire to drive at a non-championship race!

You can´t spend credits on chassis speed. If you want speed you can either spend money on Engine Power or improving your drivers performance (right now only on Phoenix McAllister as The Stig is a Pay Driver)

Oh, sorry, my bad, but I thought you could spend credits on making the chassis be faster. Or how does it go? I'm getting slightly confused ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

You spend the money on engine power to make the car faster.
And you know, there's something epic about that new grid picture when you have the old BBC grid theme playing in the background

I was rather thinking of "Lift Me Up", you know, the ITV grid. You can say what you want about the ITV coverage, but their grid animations were awesome.

FINANZIARIO: Parti Trueba aumento del 37% tra le voci di acquisizione di Alitalia ostili.
[Translated by Andrea Dellafiore]
Shares in the Trueba Racing Team increased by a whopping 37% today despite failing to pre-qualify for the day's race at Long Beach. The rise comes as shareholders resist a rumoured hostile takeover being planned by fellow Italian racing team Scuderia Alitalia, who are currently without an F1RWRS entry.
"We are not completely closed off to a merger with another business," said one Trueba Racing S.p.A. shareholder. "However, we know the history of the people in charge of Scuderia Alitalia and their acquisition strategy would not show any benefit for Trueba if they bought a majority shareholding. We are going through a transitionary phase at the moment, and I expect us to improve soon with the accounts looking more positive than before. For this reason, it is our preferred option that Alitalia stays away."
Only hours after the rumours of the takeover surfaced, and just after the MIBTel closed for trading, Scuderia Alitalia released the following statement;
Fabrizio Barzagli, Scuderia Alitalia Press Officer wrote:Scuderia Alitalia is a financially stable and ethical business. It is not in our best interests to forcibly acquire and asset-strip any other company. We will pursue an entry to F1RWRS through a sporting route with the F1RWRS commission. Our current friendly co-operation with many other racing teams, such as Dagnall Engineering and Christopherson Racing, shows we have no intention to interfere with other teams at the business level. We will continue our efforts for a 2015 entry to F1RWRS.
Trueba Racing Team lead driver & team principal Giovanni Roda was not available for comment.
Re: F1RWRS -- 2014 - Onwards
During the US race at Long Beach (as originally posted by Scuderia Alitalia):
Ted Kravitz: "Yes, I'm down here in pit-lane now, watching a drunken Alasdair Lindsay stagger up to the Foxdale pits. Lindsay is of course the owner of Scuderia Alitalia who have been trying so desperately hard to enter F1RWRS. Oh dear, he's trying a cheesy chat-up line on Pippa Mann...and she's landed it! A huge slap in the face for Alasdair Lindsay, his left cheek is going to be red for weeks after that."

But Pippa Mann is just happy to see both her boyfriend and her brother have points now. Just a shame about Foxdale's number 2 driver not contributing to their points total yet...

Sammy Jones wrote:Well 4th and 7th isn't too bad at all really, considering we're fighting it out with a number of teams to be best of the rest right now. It's a massive improvement over Mexico, and that's all we needed to be quite honest. There's no question in my mind about our performance this year compared to 2013. The car simply doesn't have the pace to contend with the front runners, but we're happy to sit tight and wait for the turbo ban to kick in, at which point we expect to be far more competitive. Daniel's driven another good race, and collected some valuable points, and although we've slipped to 5th, it's clear Gillet are vulnerable, and whilst Kamaha have made big improvements this season, I think over the year we should give them a run for their money. At this point in the season, virtually one-third distance into the championship, I think it's safe to say that we should aim for a top 5 finish in the constructors' battle.
