Kind of, yeah. Here's the Nordic Racing 2002 car driven by no other than HWNSNBM himself:

with all these great liveries, i think it would be wiser to revert back to the second version, i'm starting to really like it, somehow
if you still have that file of course, if you don't, no problem, it's not me who got to watch these races

and oh, if some driver is looking for a seat, he can drive for GTI!

Why yes, I still had the old livery stored. I've reverted back to that, and added your racing numbers on it. The finished livery looks like this.

Stefan Kuntz is yours, then. That completes the 20-car grid, so any new drivers hoping for a drive must have a new team behind them!

Round 1 - Blackwood GP - Free Practice

Image

I'm slightly worried at how few teams have upgraded their cars. As you can see from the practice times, the teams that have upgraded their cars are far superior to the others. So, in an effort to increase the teams' interest in upgrading their cars, I'll remove the secrecy clause from the upgrade rules, applicable from the next race onwards. In other words, after this race is finished, you're no longer going to send me e-mails about your car upgrades. Instead, you will post them publicly right here in this topic. Sabotage will of course stay secret (i.e. you'll still send me an e-mail when you want to sabotage), otherwise it would be quite pointless.

Anyway, you now have exactly 17 hours left to upgrade your cars, as the qualifying will start on March 1, 17:00 UTC, after which any further upgrades must be carried after the both races (feature and sprint) have been finished.

How much, then? At the moment the maximum upgrades per one weekend are three points in both engine and chassis.

Yes.

To clear up my last post, what I meant is that it is allowed to upgrade both the engine and chassis with three points, resulting in a grand total of six (and which would cost 75 credits, mind you).

All car upgrades have been applied, thank you for your input. Hydook (Pointrox) and Ural Racing (The Lukas) are now the only teams with the default car.

I haven't decided anything yet, really. Suggestions are welcome!

Tojo is improving steadily... but why Yui* is still slow? :? *(I meant Yui Megumi - to avoid confusion with her older sister, Reiko, which is/was a F1RGP2C driver)

For trophy names, maybe the Shinobu Katayama Trophy (after the only champion of ROLFS in it's old guise) for drivers? I still don't have an(y) idea for constructors/teams. :)

Qualifying results are now in. Note that I'm using the same three-stage qualifying used in current F1; the idea behind this is to prevent slower cars from blocking others (the AI is absolutely HORRIBLE at overtaking), although it's quite impossible in the first session.

Blackwood GP - Qualifying - Round 1
Image
Garfünkel's awful time was caused by being stuck behind Kustova throughout the session. Other drivers were blocked by the slowest cars (Hydook and Ural) as well, but Garfünkel was the only one to seriously suffer from it, as it denied him the possibility to continue into Q2.

Blackwood GP - Qualifying - Round 2
Image
Round two was far better, with Battani posting the best time of the weekend and the Parmas closing in.

Blackwood GP - Qualifying - Round 3
Image
No surprises in round three, Battani clinches the pole by being the fastest in all three sessions, while Van de Schoot completes the CaM front row. Places 6-10 are within five hundreds of a second, making for a very tight competition.

Feature race is about to start soon.

I call shenanigans!

My team went from a graceful 1-2 in practice to being slowed 0.3 seconds, so naturally I believe I have been sabotaged.

I have 3 suspects, but I think I will accuse (no offence intended) Coke and Magnum racing!

Unfortunately, you were wrong. No-one sabotaged your team.

As a result, your team will receive a penalty based on this rule:
And lastly, if the team is wrong in their belief that they've been sabotaged, both of the cars of the accusing team will receive a 5-second penalty in the next race.

The next race is Blackwood Sprint, so where ever your cars finish there, 5 seconds will be added to their final time.

Blackwood Feature results coming soon.

Well to be honest, Garfünkel would've been lot faster if he hadn't been stuck behind Kustova all the time.

Blackwood GP - Feature Race

Standings after 31 laps:
Image

Report:
As often is the case, the first corner was where most of the action took place. Alexandra Kustova overtook Brucie Kibbutz, who had to brake hard when Tristan Jung also braked hard after he failed to overtake Akira Yamamura. Yui Megumi attempted to overtake Ólafur Ragnar Hannesson, but was instead hit from the behind by Stefan Kuntz. This made Megumi brake hard, resulting in Kuntz, Yamamura, Jung and Kustova overtaking her. Meanwhile at the front, Carsten Jancker managed to take the inner line in the first corner an keep it until the chicane, forcing his way past Markus Van de Schoot. At the same time Kibbutz forced Alexey Buyvalov to go wide and brake hard when the latter tried to overtake the former. Simon Garfünkel, who was struggling to keep Alexandre Dorval behind him, was now on the same line as the slow-moving Buyvalov, and couldn't avoid crashing into the back of him. As a result, the Hydook cars of Anton Bosevic and Dorval overtake both. And if it wasn't already miserable enough for our fellow Liechtensteiner, when he tries to overtake Buyvalov in the chicane that is immediately after the first corner, the Russian makes a sharp turn from the outside, resulting in a knock between the two cars and Garfünkel having to brake hard.

The next event took place in the mid-speed corner that is after the back straight. Kuntz, now in 11th, runs wide and while trying to recover he slightly scrapes with Yamamura, who is overtaking him. The German has to brake to avoid further contact, and when he tries to get back on the racing line, he instead has to avoid Jung, who had also caught up with him. This further slows him down, resulting in Kustova scraping his rear tyre. This throws him completely off balance, and he is forced to avoid the overtaking cars of Megumi, Kibbutz, Bosevic and Dorval, with even Buyvolov and Garfünkel following suit. This incident, which took no more than a few seconds, dropped Kuntz to 20th and last.

On the second lap, Kibbutz almost loses control when attempting to overtake Megumi in the same corner where Kuntz went wide. This allows Bosevic to overtake him.

After that, the race started to take shape. Polesitter Andrea Battani and Jancker were within a second from each other, and two seconds behind them was the tight pack of Van de Schoot, Larsen and Cave Johnson. They were followed by John Carlisle, Hiroto Tojo, Sebastian Prost, Mike Stern, Hannesson, Yamamura and Jung. Megumi was stuck behind Kustova, while Kibbutz had the same problem with Bosevic. Buyvolov was blocking the Grands Travaux cars from trying to retake lost positions. On lap three, Tojo makes an error much similar to what Kuntz did on the first lap. He is overtaken by Prost and both ZimSports. However, when Yamamura attempts the same, Tojo steers hard to the right, making the former to step on the brakes. Jung doesn't hesitate to use this chance and easily gets past Yamamura. On lap four, Garfünkel tries to overtake Buyvolov on the back straight, but is blocked, making him jump on the brakes and at the same time letting Kuntz past him.

Kibbutz finally manages to get past Bosevic in the first turn on lap six, by making Bosevic go wide by hitting him in the behind. Shortly thereafter there's havoc at the back when Dorval has a gear change problem at the exit of the chicane. Buyvolov catches up with him, with the Grands Travaux cars in tow. The Russian gets ahead of Dorval, his team mate Bosevic is not far up front, Kuntz is right on his left side and Garfünkel is not long behind either. The four cars come down the straight neck-to-neck, until Kuntz hesitates and gives up. At the same time Dorval attempts to take back his position and takes the inner line into the corner. This forces Buyvolov to brake, allowing Dorval and Garfünkel get past him. Kuntz comes from the behind and scrapes the Russian, but gets easily past him as well. In the last corner Dorval makes a slight error and Garfünkel attempts to overtake him, but hesitates and eventually lets Kuntz get past him again.

For many laps after this the order stayed the same, with no overtakes and only a few near-collisions between the two GTI cars. Megumi and Kibbutz were still stuck behind Kustova, while the GTIs had the same with Dorval. On lap 13 Prost finally catched up with Carlisle, and easily drafted past him on the back straight. Two laps later it was his team mates turn to shine, as Johnson got past Larsen in the same place. Kibbutz & Megumi, as well as Garfünkel & Kuntz exchange places a few times, but still don't get past their blockers.

Lap 22, and most of the cars complete their mandatory pit stops, with only Yui Megumi and the Hydook and Ural cars staying out. While most get their stops done without problems, GTI continues their rejectful efforts. Garfünkel pits after Kuntz, but is ready much earlier, but instead of properly swerving around him, our fellow Liechtensteiner instead rams his team mate in the back and almost burns up his clutch when trying to force his way through. Eventually he manages to change into reverse, but by that time Kuntz has also finished and both of them continue their race. Kibbutz's pitstop takes too long and he permanently drops behind the Hydooks, who pit along with the Urals on lap 23.

After this, very little of interest happened, and eventually Andrea Battani won the race from pole position and leading every lap, but is denied of the fastest lap by his team mate Van de Schoot, who places third. Jancker gets betweeen the CaMs, while Johnson, Larsen and Prost round up the remaining points-scoring positions.

I think I use much less detail in my next race descriptions, this took way too long to write (mostly because the LFS replay system is awful)...

Championship standings:
1. Andrea Battani 11 (+1 from pole position)
2. Carsten Jancker 6
3. Markus Van de Schoot 5 (+1 from fastest lap)
4. Cave Johnson 3
5. Ragnar Larsen 2
6. Sebastian Prost 1

1. Coke and Magnum Racing 16
2. Parma Corse 8
3. Ultimate Racing 4

Because the starting grid for the Sprint race is a reversed list of finishers from the Feature race, it's looking good for Grands Travaux in that sense...

Blackwood GP - Sprint Race

Standings after 16 laps:
Image

Once again the first lap was eventful. Ragnar Larsen is forced to brake hard to avoid colliding with Cave Johnson, and is hit from the behind by Van de Schoot. Ólafur Ragnar Hannesson is forced to brake to avoid colliding with his team mate Mike Stern. Tristan Jung has to give way for Josh Carlisle in a similar fashion. Carlisle himself is harassed and slightly hit by Prost. Anton Bosevic is overtaken by both Yui Megumi and Akira Yamamura right after the start. This forces him to brake, which leads to Bosevic, Alexandra Kustova, Josh Carlisle, Sebastian Prost and Tristan Jung scrape with each other on the main straight. Meanwhile, Johnson attempts to overtake Kustova, but hits her in the behind. As a result, Johnson himself is rammed by Carsten Jancker. All of this calamity plays well for Andrea Battani, who manages to avoid all the trouble and rise up to 12th before the first corner. On the main straight Brucie Kibbutz easily overtakes Alexey Buyvolov, while Jancker does the same with Bosevic. Jung attempts the same with Kustova, but is blocked and forced to drop all the way back to 19th. Stern goes wide at the end of the main straight, and is forced to let Carlisle, Prost and Battani past him. And just when he's picking up speed, he gets hit by Jancker, throwing him off the balance and dropping him behind his team mate Hannesson, in the 18th place. Jancker himself is re-overtaken by Bosevic as a result. At the same time, it becomes clear that Johnson received much more serious damage than first thought. His suspension seems to be badly damaged, which leads to him going wide at the end of the main straight. This problem persists throughout the race, although it is unknown why he didn't pit to try and repair the damage or retire altogether.

On lap 2, Battani gets past Prost in the first corner. Larsen overtakes Kustova on the back straight. Hannesson goes wide at the end of the back straight and drops to 19th. Megumi attempts to overtake Dorval at the short straight between turns 3 and 4, but has to brake hard to avoid collision. Well, that was bound to happen since I didn't upgrade our car...
...and that's what I'll do now - all money on engine development, please! :D

Maximum per race weekend is three points, so that's what you'll get in South City. Unless you can persuade other teams to allow you to upgrade twice as much, as you missed upgrading for the first race. ;)

If other teams will allow me to do so (for the sake of equal chances and sportsmanship), then sure.
If not - I'll upgrade anyway, just to rebound.

Scandal arouses as RoLFS organizers are drunk during the race

Spectators of the second round in the Rejects of LFS series, held at the Blackwood track in England, were surprised when the cars actually drove through the GP in the wrong direction. The sprint race was originally supposed to be raced on a reversed layout of the track, but instead they drove in the same direction as in yesterday's feature race.

However, it was not the teams' or drivers' fault that they drove in the wrong direction. No, in fact the race organizers themselves were too drunk to tell the participants the correct direction to drive in. RoLFS spokesman Jarno Toivonen: "Yes, I admit that we had a small party last night, celebrating the first ever RoLFS GP being succesfully finished. And in the morning, the guy responsible for telling the race participants was too dr... err, in some odd mindset that he actually told the wrong driving direction."

When asked whether the race will be driven again, Toivonen replied: "We don't have time for that. And at least everyone had fun and we still got an excellent sprint race. We'll make sure to drive in the correct direction next year... say, you got any Aspirin with you?"

Yep, I rejectfully forgot to check that I had put the reversed circuit on, and only noticed it after the race was finished. So we got two races on the same layout. :|
