Favourite Reject Driver and Team

Favourite constructor: For me it's Simtek because the S941 and S951 were quite attractive in their design, overall if they hadn't folded so early in 1995, they would have fared better than Pacific despite also having to resort to hiring pay drivers and suffering more setbacks than Alain Prost (as a team owner) could care to dream about. They proved that they were trending in the right direction, but never made it. Plus there's also the fact that the S941 and S951 are of the same lineage as the Andrea Moda S921.

Favourite driver: Perry McCarthy, because throughout his entire career he showed tremendous resilience through events that would have demoralized lesser men, except maybe HWNSNBM. And for sure Alex Zanardi.

The S921 had so much potential in it's day. Anyone with half an F1 brain wouldve got that team fighting midtable easily. I've seen pictures of Sassetti, and you can just TELL he doesn't care about the racing side of F1.

Indeed. He leaves the impression that F1 was nothing more than a splurge that had the added benefit of being an advertising campaign. Even Tom Walkinshaw could've probably made that team amount to more than it did :lol:

Favourite Reject Team: Onyx; Great livery, cool name, Johanssen in Budapest, Shock results in '89, plucky little team. Again, what's not to like?

Driver: Yuji Ide. Watching him drive was quite simply comedy gold, better than any episode of Friends (although no one is better than Taki Inoue. I have a knife).
Team: Simtek. Had one of the best looking cars on the grid in 94 and 95. Always a sign for disaster...

Not at all...at most the Hungary 1995 incident was only half his fault because he maybe should been a little more patient and attentive. And as far a Monaco 1995 went I always wondered who was the idiot at race control who cleared the safety car to go out on the circuit without at least warning the driver about Inoue's car being cleaned up off the circuit.

And what I said above came from the mindset of "true accidents only happen once". So if Inoue continually got hit by course cars as you suggested, I thought that could be a possible(and quite rejectful) outcome.

In sum all I'm trying to say is that an Inoue/Ide driver pairing would lead to great levels of rejectfulness and great entertainment to boot

I think you're getting Burti and Bernoldi mixed up. It was Bernoldi who held DC up at Monaco. Burti meanwhile was too busy having enormous accidents every second week :lol:

I wouldn't go that far, but I had the misfortune of meeting the guy and trying to talk to him for 10 minutes and he was just an arsehole. Seems to be the industry's general opinion of him, except in Portugal.

Well, a friend of mine knows Lamy due to having grow up in the same town and although he didn't went as far, he said that Lamy wasn't very kind or nice to people who meet him. That the guy was shy, closed on himself and not really interesting. This might turn people into arseholes indeed. Thing is, in Portugal we have so few drivers that, when supporting them, we tend not to be picky about their personality (speaking for myself and close ones). So, we just ignore that part and get on with it. Favourite reject team is probably Life. Just a ridiculous attempt at F1. An engine which was about as useful as a fart against a hurricane.

Favourite driver could well be Hans Heyer, for his sheer audacity in sticking two fingers up at authority and sneaking onto the grid for his home race anyway.

Though a very common task to see in F1, it would be quite embarrassing to feel it almost and realize that you are not going to be able to proceed anything serious and ambitious about it. A very sad route but one that people should realize and experience just to get things going on either side. I would not be surprised to see a lot of the newer bloods just go right through them.
