I think I had a thousand, but due to my awfully bad luck (i.e. if I had stayed online for an extra few minutes, I would have seen Aerond's post with the list of chassis and engines... try to beat that ), I had to buy a crap chassis, on which I spent all the credits to make it reliable.
Well, I paid the price for that, so we'll see what can I do next year, I predict nothing more.

and whose fault is to have chosen that engine with plenty of credits to spend, and then blow much of your credits on reliability without knowing if the car would qualify first? That´s what I call Reject Management, just as good as Rial, Onyx, etc, had.

Melrose: "2nd's the goal"

Jones Racing's Daniel Melrose has come out and said that he's aiming for 2nd in the championship for the last four rounds. "While the championship may be all but mathematically out of the question, 2nd place is an easily obtainable target" said Melrose. "The car's clearly one of the most if not the most reliable on the grid plus it's got more than enough speed to capitalise on other people's misfortunes. Since the guys in front of us aren't guaranteed to score points week in-week out, we can, and have, use this to our fullest advantage."

When asked about his season as a whole so far, Melrose said that 2014 was his best year in a long time. "2014 has obviously been one of the best season's I've had in recent times. Hell, it can be argued that it's my best ever season in the F1RWRS and I'll like to thank Sammy for the opportunity at redemption after a difficult few seasons for myself. I've made many changes in the off-season and even during this year and as a result, I feel that I'm driving better than ever. With my new manager by my side, all I have to say to the rest of the field for next year is look out world, We're coming to get you!"

1. I suspect that Foxdale did not make it. I say continue with it anyway... I am curious and intrigued to know what happened now!
2. Fine by me. If there's nothing you can do about it...
3. The track was built to an exact imperial length and the total race distance is an exact multiple of that. 2.5 miles times 200 laps equals 804.65 kilometres! I demand every last two-thirds of a km! 200 laps!

But yes, they didn't make it. Pippa's transmission gave out from the lead, and then Douglas took it as a result - and lasted a good 25 laps more.

Mitie Aviation confirm two signings.

Mr.Alexander confirmed today the signing of a driver and a new sponsor for 2015. Speaking to a small gathering of journalists outside their Sevenoaks base, the rain began so he invited them into the workshop for coffee and a chat. This is what was said:

Q: You have confirmed David Neuberg will be driving next year. Are you pleased to have him?
A: Of course. David is a fantastic lad and we are all delighted he will remain with us for another year. There was speculation about his future when DGN confirmed they were interested. But the rumours stopped as quickly as they started.
Q: If a bigger team had come in for him, would you have let him go?
A: It's a difficult one to answer. But if David expressed his desire to move up the grid, we wouldn't have stopped him. But as soon as we spoke to him about staying for next year, he was more than happy to sign a new deal.
Q: How long is the new contract?
A: It's a one year deal with an option for a further two years. Full-time contract too as he's proved he's clearly good enough.
Q: How special was Mitie's first official start earlier in the year?
A: It was an amazing feeling to have as a boss (looking at a framed picture of the grid formation, with David in clear view towards the back). We spoke to David as he was going round to the grid and he was the calmest person in the team! I had goosebumps for the few laps he was racing. It was a shame it ended early.
Q: A new sponsor has joined up for next year (Kingfisher), how much will this help the financial side if things?
A: Oh very much so. Mitie are continuing to reduce their input into the team, so more if my own finances are going in to get us to the end of the year. We will make it, I'm certain of that. But I'm pleased we've managed to get Kingfisher on board. It secures our future for the short-term anyway.
Q: Will the team go through a 're-branding' for next year?
A: Yes. I can't confirm yet what that will be yet but the name and livery will change.
Q: You've made no secret about signing a top-line driver for next year, Hagane Shizuka, Mirko Bosevic and Ashley Watkinson being three drivers your intereted in, do you see this team moving up next year?
A: We have to improve. I'm happy with how this year has gone so far, but the second year is arguably the hardest for any team. I've made several public announcements about these drivers and none have come forward so I'm a bit frustrated. We are a professional team with plenty of potential so it only takes one quality driver to take us into the next phase.
Q: And what is the next phase?
A: Qualify on a regular basis and score a few points. Winning races and Championahips won't happen overnight, in fact it probably won't happen for 5 years, so it's all about taking gradual steps to achieve our ultimate goal.
Q: One driver who did answer your call was Kay Lon. How close was you to signing him?
A: Close. Very close. We offered him a choice of contracts, including one which ties him to the team for several years, effectively building the team around him. But he chose Pemberton instead. We spoke regularly through email and he was very polite and honest. A good guy. I wish him all the best.
Q: Matthias Valsattis has been involved with the team since your Formula 3 days, how important is he to the team and where will he be next year?
A: Matty is a good bloke. A personal friend. He's had a few personal problems throughout the year and he's suffered countless mechanical problems during pre-qualifying. He doesn't deserve some of the criticism he gets but he's taken it on the chin and continues to give his all. The team support him 100% and he knows this. As for next year, we have an option on his contract so he will remain with the team. What role that will be remains to be decided.
Q: You've had four different drivers in your cars throughout the year. How difficult was it to find a suitable pairing?
A: Stephen Mackintosh was only drafted in at the last minute to fill in for Alexey Pchelintsev, but when David jumped in for a few races, he surprised us all with his speed, and has remained in the car ever since! The first year is always a test year, so it's difficult to try and find a happy balance straightaway. I'm pleased at what Stephen has done at MechaGP though. He's still in touch with me every couple of weeks and he's enjoying his time there. Good luck to him.
Q: And finally, the FIRTA have been pretty vocal about rule changes for this year and next, have you got anything to say?
A: Well, I'm glad the pre-qualifying cup has been re-introduced (Mr.Alexander was the first to bring this up) and the turbo ban should even up the field a little. The prize money being in favour of those at the back helps us each year so the changes have mostly been for the benefit for the guys struggling. This is good for the sport.

RACE

3 races to go and we´re almost back to square one, basically because although there´s one dominating team around (MRT), the unreliability they and their main rivals DGN have suffered all along the year makes it really unpredictable who´ll win the championship, becuase we thought after Cyprus, with just another Dagnall win, that the championship was settled, but another race on and conditions went all to favour Phillippe Nicolas and here we are again. It´s going to be three very tense races, next one being at Macau. Anything can happen.
The race for the win, with Spencer and Dagnall retiring within seconds, was already decided at Lap 6, not even when Nicolas destroyed his front wing in an off-track excursion his win was in danger, even if he slipped back to 3rd, but, behind him, we witnessed great battles all along the grid, with loads of overtaking, drivers coming from or slipping to the back. Specially good was to see Barii Mori have one of those rare weekends everything worked in his favour to battle Thomas de Bock, in the end the Gillet driver retired in a dreadful race for the Belgian team, but it was entertaining watching both drivers interchange positions with Douglas Mann. Kudos as well to Kay Lon, who seems definitely back on track with another podium finish which will help him save his dented reputation. Good race for Jones as well and both Arrowtech drivers, although they were definitely favoured by Jesus Plaza and Dean O´Lauchlan retirements near the end. The case of the mexican is specially sad as he seems to be fond of this track and points would have been important to ARC regarding entering the Top 10 in constructors. Last year he retired in last lap while leading and this year was in the quest for points.

On the negative side there´s loads of drivers who seemed to compete for being the slowest teammate, Ben Fleet, Aurelien Moll, Shinobu Katayama, Daniel Melrose, Nicolas Steele and Pippa Mann did everything to go completely unnoticed. Ben Fleet squeezed from 5th on grid, to a distant 7th in the end after having been passed by both Phoenix. Moll fought in the middle of the pack until his Gillet gave up. Shinobu Katayama did a fantastic start only to drop positions as fast as she gained them. Daniel Melrose´s weekend was specially bad as seen by Jone´s pace and couldn´t get on grip with his car all weekend, only finishing in front of Frank Zimmer as the GRM driver had to pit with a problem early in the race and for that he earns the ROTR award. Our wonderful 6 is completed by Nicolas Steele, who seemed to drive a completely different car to that of Barii Mori, and Pippa Mann, who did the most anonymous race of the weekend.

And, at the risk of pissing off Mr McClean even more than he already is over this debacle, I suggest that if he were to sell off Acuri to someone that he'd keep Ron Migolet at all costs and put him alongside Bosevic. And yes, that is a massive vote of no confidence towards Mr Martins

Or, even better, he can negotiate a merger deal with Aerond ala MRT, nick the best engine in the field for next year and take Bosevic to a world title that he so thoroughly deserves

Valsattis will get at least one race for MRT depending on how long it takes for Spencer to fall out of mathematical title contention. As you can all probably tell, any patience I had left for Spencer ran out ages ago as one simply doesn't have several race-ending accidents in one season and get away with it, especially with a trigger-happy Melrose running the asylum.
