The F1 Career of Pieter Kickert (1994-?)

That's right, another virtual career!

The game: GP4 (to see if it is really as easy as Wizzie says it is :lol: )
The year: 1994
The team: Tyrrell (Thanks to the GP2 championship, but what's wrong with a little driving for Tyrrell?)
The driver: Pieter Kickert, making his F1 debut after solid but not spetacular results in F3000.

And let's start off straight away!

1994 Brazilian Grand Prix

The teams arrived at Interlagos with several fresh faces amongst the drivers. One of the more low key ones was Pieter Kickert, born in Haarlem in 1966. Signed by Tyrrell to partner Mark Blundell, not much is expected of Kickert, as he tries to get to grips with his new car.

Benetton driver Michael Schumacher takes pole byjust under a tenth of a second from Ayrton Senna, now driving for Williams. Schumacher had set the time on his first lap, and it was only a final effort from Senna that got him within a second of him. Blundell was pipped from the second row at the death by Damon Hill, while his Tyrrell teammate could only manage 20th, his final lap only able to beat Panis and Alboreto. The only incident of the session was a spin by Kickert at turn 1, where he was a sitting duck as first Irvine and then Frentzen hit him.

If you know how to setup the car, the game's usually pretty easy. You're just shite :lol:

Look forward to see how this career progresses.
I've had GP4 for about a year, and have used god knows how many different controllers (Gamepad, Keyboard, Steering wheel, even a joystick for a laugh!). I'm still unbelievably crap. rfactor is alot more bearable, although I wouldnt recommend it for fictional careers, mainly because of the AI (for example, Tuero once made it to pole position).

That's because GP4 can only have 22 cars. However, what the mod does is let me choose who the 21st and 22nd cars are, from either Larrousse, Lotus, Pacific, Simtek, or the best two qualifiers in the race in real life. I'm going with the latter option, so at Brazil it was Comas for Larrousse and Herbert for Lotus who were the best, so they are the ones racing. Although it does mean that for most of the year it will be Comas/Herbert, apart from a few times when it's both Larousses, once maybe when it's both Lotuses, and no Simteks or Pacifics at any point (although I might run them for the fun of it every now and then).

I've done this method as well. Brabham makes the grid at Spa, so Simtek will make it. Once.

1994 Brazilian Grand Prix - Race
Starting 20th on his F1 debut, Kickert made a simply brilliant start to get to 11th, but he outbraked himself into turn 4 trying to pass Hakkinen, dropping back to 19th, behind Bernard. On lap 2, Alboreto was looking for a way past Panis, and as they approached turn 4, he managed to hit Herbert and retired from the race. Hakkinen spun at turn 8, and was unable to return to the track. Eric Bernard also spun, at Juncao, and was also unable to rejoin. On lap 5, Morbidelli's engine sprung a leak, making him the fourth DNF of the race, and Comas was having a shocker, sliding backwards. Meanwhile, Kickert was having difficulties in keeping Panis behind him. His car was brilliant through the first and final sectors, but he was struggling in the middle of the lap. As a result, he could challenge Irvine and Comas into turn 1, but had to defend from Panis and Herbert everywhere else. Up front, Schumacher was bolting, while the Williams were busy fighting between each other. Kickert's debut only lasted until lap 5, when he got into a tangle with Panis at turn 4. He spun off, somehow found the barrier and couldn't make it back to the pits. At the end of the race, Schumacher took an easy win, beating the Williams pair, who were the only other two on the lead lap.

1994 Pacific Grand Prix - Qualifying

F1 visits Aida for the first time, and Kickert has a much better qualifying than at Interlagos, qualifying 14th and within 3 tenths of Blundell. Schumacher took pole for the second time, beating the Williams pair by half a second.

In his second GP, Kickert lasted longer before eventually spinning into a wall. He did 23 laps and had a scheduled stop to show his talent. If he had any. He spent the entire race being well off the pace, his good start jumping him up to 10th and holding up virtually the entire field. He managed to keep everyone behind him until the stops, and after his he spun off a lap later. Both in front and behind though drivers were busy having huge smashes, Morbidelli and Frentzen colliding early and rolling several times each, Barrichello and Martini having a coming together and Comas doing several cartwheels after hitting Bernard. Up front, Schumacher once again dominated the race, leading most of the race, while Hill had pace but got unlucky when Kickert retired, losing a front wing when he hit a stray wheel.
