Sadly it is true.

Kid, you have to shake up your life. Like going to parties and enjoying it. You already did it this year, yes, but you should start doing it a bit more often. Let's start with one every 3 months, for instance.

I tried having a life. Went down the crapper after about 4 weeks though

I'm not worried about being single, most of the girls at my school are stupid and will only go out with people who are total arseholes.

I just realised how close to 2000 posts I am.

All of you guys in your mid-teens need to bear in mind that in 5-10 years time you'll look back at this period of your life with a great deal of fondness. Make sure you do with it what you feel is best, because if you don't I can guarantee you'll regret it. You may not realise it but during your years in education you have far more free time that you'll never have again in your life until retirement.

Get out there, have fun with your mates, do the things that make you happy and you can't go far wrong. :)

There's little chance of me having a life at the moment. The woes of bloody A-level exams, including THREE exams in one day on the 18th of this month :(

Though it must be said, I have much more of a life than I had a year ago. And I'm far more sociable than I once was...

I concur. The most free time you can have is when kids or teens. After that only when you are old. :(

Of course, and at all times things like that must take a precedent, and you will have your own way of preparing and dealing with exams. My finals for university start on Tuesday, and I have my own preparation worked out for them. When they're done, just get out there and enjoy life, do what you want to do. If that's mostly sitting inside playing computer games, or whatever then that's fine. It should be what you want to do on your terms. I used to paint shit-tons of Warhammer models, I still have some at home, I didn't socialise much until I hit 17-18, and only now aged 21 do I have a stable relationship with a girl I like. Kids these days think they need to grow up as soon as possible and do all this stuff before they've even left school when the reality is the entire opposite. The sooner you get tied down with a girlfriend and have more responsibilities in your life, the less time you'll spend making it the best time of your life.

I'm also working on a radio documentary which is sapping all of my time. The production combined with stupid amounts of paperwork is hell. But once that is all done and summer comes? Working 9 till 5 and non-stop Football Manager the rest of the time! Image

I think being a sociable person as soon as you can is very important. I can assure you the fonder mementos of your childhood and teens come from the time you spent with people you liked, not from the things you used to do all alone.

Oh absolutely, but my point is some people don't like that and prefer often to do things alone. I grew up in a small village, all my friends at school lived elsewhere and so it meant most of my time was spent doing things alone. If people get their kicks out of doing things alone, then I figure that's what they should be doing. They certainly shouldn't be pressured into doing something they don't want to do, in the way that socialising is often forced upon kids.

Don't waste your time doing nothing at all, kids! You don't want to end up like uncle This!

Well it's all easy said and done to be sociable, but if you don't know any likeminded people it's very hard. Thankfully this is not the case anymore, but i know better than most people that you need a little bit of luck in your life. My best advice is: open yourself to randomness! And of course: drink lot's of Belgian 'special beers' ;)

I'm 25 now and would love to be 16, 17 or 18 again. Every week I'd work my nuts off earning money and every weekend I'd be out either on a pub crawl, house parties or just down the local clubs. You was out of school but still living at home so outgoings were minimal (so more to spend on girls, junk food and booze). Every weekend was a party and every Monday felt like death :)

I look back at my mid-teens with about as much fondness as Messrs. Button and Barrichello will have for 2007. Life properly took off around 25, peaked at 30 and as long as I can keep the slope downwards as shallow as possible, won't drop off the cliff until 45-50 or so. I assure those of you in the 14-19 age bracket that there is far, far better still to come.
