It's natural that the helmets are more detailed now (technology is improving) and thus a well-designed helmet nowadays looks better than an old one. Although well-looking isn't the most objective property.
But the helmet is a symbol, and as you wouldn't want to see cars changing their livery race after race, Vettel's dynamic helmet-design is also quite irritating - at least for me.

Whatever happened to the supposedly "aerodynamic" helmet design first sported by Schumacher and later copied by most other people, anyway? They seem to have gone back to being round again these days.

As AndreaModa quite rightly said it was Nelson Piquet Snr. But I always thought to myself, you know what, I reckon my front room is one hell of a lot smaller than Mr Piquets is/was. I reckon hes got some sort of mansion somewhere and with that in mind Im sure his front room is mahoosive.
In which case riding a bicycle round your front room is a piece of piss, and so is driving round Monaco!

Well, he was on pole position, led for 53 laps and then crashed out of the lead in 1981 ... So he WAS doing well then, at least for a while ...
And he also got fastest lap of the race and finished 2nd in 1983, as well as a 2nd in 1987. Not ~too~ bad, though apart from those results, pretty much no other success ..

On a slight tangent to the race itself, there have been some discussions between Kimi and Boullier in the past few days after Kimi requested permission to compete in the WRC Rally of Finland, even though his contract is supposed to ban him from taking part in extreme sports outside of F1. The most hilarious part about that is that, regardless of whoever's fault it was (read: Vettel's), Vettel was STILL the one who lost out more. -25 points as opposed to -3.
People seem to cry foul about that incident to this very day, demanding justice, but it's already been dealt.

After Kubica, I was not sure what Kimi was thinking or what hopes did he had. It was quite obvious that Toleman would refuse Kimi's request so soon after last year's unfortunate incident...

That was pretty weird, wasn't it? I've never seen somebody knock their front wing off on the inside of that corner before. He's done quite a bit of damage to his car, though - that'll have put a lot of load through the gearbox too, so that'll be a fairly sizeable repair job.

Was that definitely Maldonado who did that? I thought that it might have been Bruno Senna actually (it was kind of hard to see who exactly was in the cockpit there, although the commentators initially thought it might have been Bruno rather than Maldonado).
Speaking of him, Perez was having some fairly sizeable bad luck towards the end of the session - he was lucky not to run into the back of Hulkenberg after Hulkenberg backed off on the turn in to the Noghes corner (I would not be surprised if Hulkenberg is given a warning for that, because it was a very dangerous place to suddenly slow down with another car following close behind).
