For that, you have just insured that James Hunt will not get injured for the entire season. I for one do not beleive that Hunt should have died (or anybody for that matter), and I was saddened to hear of his death when watching Murray's Magic Moments on video as a child (technically I am still a child). Just a quick word from me about this before we get back on to the championship, I don't mind pointy opinions but can you please, please not wish anybody dead in this thread. Thankyou.

That aside, some more news:

NEWSFLASH
Ferrari have been reported to be confident that their turbo engine will be ready in time for the upcoming (i.e. Tonight) South African Grand Prix. A source at the team have reported that the engine offers 10% more power.

McLaren have indicated that their M28 chassis could be sold on after it's retirement. The cars, which will race for the last time at Long Beach, might be auctioned off.

Merzario's mystery manufacturer might be Italian, a source has revealed.

RAM are reported to be making a customer chassis deal with Renault. The deal could see them race Renault RS01 chasis next year.

BRM have announced that they are in talks with a 'strong' midfield F1 team.

Ford have announced that they are willing to make Shadow their works partner. However, Shadow must show some signs of improvement before the end of the year.

Andrea de Cesaris has been confirmed to be replacing Riccardo Patrese at Arrows.

Arrows could enter Aministration soon if the team's owner does not clean up his act.

James Hunt's tormentors have been jailed today. Hunt, who has been receiving hate mail from a until-now mysterious source, has been "overjoyed" the offenders have been caught. The criminals cannot be named for legal reasons.

Jenkins, Ligier, RAM, ATS/JLD, Rebaque, Arrows, Renault, and Tyrrell will participate in the post-Kyalami test.

For those who are wondering about testing, during testing your engineers might be able to lose weight from the car, improve handling, or even boost the horsepower of the engine.

I think we might need a simple list as to which member owns which driver, just to avoid confusion.

For what it's worth, I don't own John Watson or Keke Rosberg, but would like to own Stefan Bellof.

And Shadow will test with everyone else, using Rosberg and Bellof.

Three cars to Kyalami

Saras Team Merzario has been able to secure funds to take three cars to testing at the upcoming Kyalami test. Along with the two A4Bs (formerly Arrows A1B) and an A4 chassis, five drivers will be with the team.

Vittorio Brambilla will join Merzario as a one-off for the test, driving the lead A4B on the first day of testing. Brambilla's years of experience in the sport will help the team understand the new chassis and get the most out of the new car for the season ahead. In the second A4B, Elio de Angelis and Simone Guidetti will share the car equally between themselves on both days alternately. Also on the opening day of the test, plus the following morning, Italian Formula Three hotshot Michele Alboreto will run in the A4 chassis, giving him valuable track time in an F1 spec machine. In the second afternoon, he will take Brambilla's place in the lead A4B, and will be given valuable coaching by his experienced countryman to improve his skill behind the wheel. Finally, team owner Arturo Merzario will take Alboreto's place in the A4 for the second afternoon.

Saras Team Merzario is looking forward to a productive two days of testing, and the valuable track time will hopefully push the team beyond the qualifying threshold and make them regular starters in the Formula One World Championship.

Pasta, where do I need to be looking for the Jenkins logo? Don't worry about the car skin as it's not worth it for just a few minor tweaks, but I'd still like the logo as I'm currently doing a side-on 2D livery for the wiki. You can just stick it up on here if you want. :)

Jenkins Industries F1 Team Press Release

We'd like to formally announce the signing of Rupert Keegan as our test driver for the 1979 season. Rupert brings with him valuable experience in F1 and will no doubt help the team in its early development. Coincidently and not entirely unrelated, we wish to announce a sponsorship agreement with Penthouse Magazine, joining our existing agreement with Parmalat. Penthouse is a market leader in gentlemen rhythm magazines and we feel it fits right in with our team's image and purpose. The funding secured through this deal will further the aims of the Jenkins Industries F1 Team and ensure we remain a competitive, respectable force in the F1 paddock. With that, we'd like to end this press release.

Remember folks, Marshal Jenkins says keep it clean and classy! ;)

I made a specific attempt to ensure it was clean, free of expletives and other sensitive information to avoid such issues. It's a humourous, light-hearted back-story that shouldn't be over-analysed. If people have a problem with a certain section/sentence/wording/whatever, then raise the issue and we can discuss it. Don't just give vague criticism, because that's not helpful at all.

Is it too late to attend the test? Fittipaldi would be willing to test a 3rd driver if he (or she) has the cash.
