Poll: Which race for a LIVE F1 Rejects call?

Post by Kuwashima »

Dear all,

As discussed in the Eurobritermangarian Edition of our podcast, we are planning another LIVE call of a Grand Prix, merely one year after our live call of last season's Indian GP.

However, this year we want to maximise LIVE viewership/listenership so we're putting out there the above poll to see which race is most convenient for most of the F1 Rejects audience (such as it is).

We'll keep this poll up till later in August before making a final decision. There will be other factors, but if there's an overwhelming majority one way or the other that will factor heavily. Thanks for your time!

OPTION ONE
Singapore GP
Sunday 23rd September
Pre-Race video show at 7:30pm Singapore, 9:30pm Sydney, 12:30pm London, 7:30am NYC, 4:30am Los Angeles.
Live audio race call 30 mins later.

OPTION TWO
Korean GP
Sunday 14th October
Pre-Race video show at 2:30pm Korea, 4:30pm Sydney, 5:30am London, 1:30am NYC, 10:30pm Sat 13th Los Angeles.
Live audio race call 30 mins later

Cheers,
Jamie and Enoch

Excellent news, I've been hoping to see another one of these! Personally, my preference would be for the Singapore GP, mostly because I feel it's a more interesting race than the Korean track. The time's also more convenient for me, but that's only secondary for me.

I don't know why,but I feel the Korean GP would be a good race to call on despite the slight trouble for British posters.

I cast my vote for Korea, simply so I can tune in live before going to church. It NEVER finishes in time for me to get back for 12.30 pm... :(

In addition to that, given that they have actually visited the track in the past I think that sense of greater familiarity with the venue would add something to the coverage.

I have no idea. Having not seen a Korean GP yet and having found the F1 races to be an ideal time slot for making available to spend additional time with my girlfriend, I cannot really vote on this one.

As far as the racetrack goes, Singapore is the more interesting one, though.

I refuse to get up early to watch F1. So I voted for Korea because it's one of the few races I can watch without having to PVR. This is what I get for being in the PST.

Ditto, I don't believe I'm going to wake up at 7:30 in Sunday morning for Korea, even if it is commentated by Jenoch.

And while we have our overlords' attention, I'd also like to raise the concern that currently our moderators are practically teethless against spammers due to not having enough rights (for example, banning). Also, it would help us tidy up the more community-driven sections (like the Perry McCarthy forum) if they'd be allowed to "sticky" some of the most important topics. And if you ever think there's more need for moderators, I offer my services - I have a few years' worth of experience from phpBB moderating and administrating.

While it seems I would be an unpopular choice for such a role, I at least have the necessary phpBB experience to work the forum properly.

Similar reason, different vote - I can't make it to church in time if I watch the Korean GP live - especially taking the 2010 race into consideration.

Singapore as it's a better time for me. I wouldn't mind Korea though - both those races are on BBC which is convenient as the computer is in my bedroom and the big TV with Sky is in the front room, my portable in my bedroom only has the main 5 channels. :)

I voted Korea because I can actually watch that race live. No such chance for Singapore though, because of work. :x

I miss the Singapore weekend because I'm starting uni, and I move into halls on the 22nd September. It's not a massive problem if the commentary's saved along with the podcasts, but personally, Korea works more for me.

Apologies for being late to this poll, but I have just got down to listening to the podcast.

Yes, Singapore for me please.
Being as it is, I am in Singapore right now.
I might be able to view the live casting from somewhere near the track in the city

Hi everyone,

Sorry this has dropped off the radar. Jamie and I have both been incredibly busy in the last few weeks (in fact I don't think we've even managed to sneak in a word with each other) and due to some work commitments for me I don't think a Singapore live call will be possible, despite the majority of the vote being in favour of that. We're still keeping Korea open as an opportunity, though. We'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
Enoch

Thanks for the update. Last year I was unaware of the Live Call at the Budh, strange considering I'm a long time (yet on the forum mostly silent) follower of the podcasts. So I'm really looking forward to this one. My vote was also on Singapore but Korea will certainly do, if your busy schedules permit it and it all comes together. Fingers crossed :!:

I'm afraid it's not looking likely. Very sorry guys. I've been working myself to a pulp recently, both at work and at home. Although I can do some writing here and there at odd hours, I haven't been able to even think about material for a podcast, let alone put in the preparation for a live call. So I think we might have to aim for a race early next year.

Pity, I was looking forward to making Kim Jong-Un and Gangnam Style references ad nauseam ...

Sorry again, everyone.

Are your issues also meant delays on Korean GP ROTR decision as well as Pizzonia profile, Enoch? :(

I suggest we do a live call for Austin instead, by the way. And I'm eagerly waiting for next podcast. :)

Without harping on about it, it's very tricky managing a demanding legal job, four children 4 or under (including 9-month-old twins who now demand a lot of attention), other family commitments, occasional church work and two separate hobbies! I get two hours of free time a night if I'm lucky - if I have the energy to do anything in that time - and weekends are non-existent.

I'm working on Pizzonia when I can. Trust me, it will be a very detailed profile, with more analysis than previous profiles.

Must go - my wife's calling me!
