Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
Here is report saying that Button's salary demand is too much for Brawn and hence Button may move to a different team. Thus both seats at Brawn may be changed
http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5687767,00.html
With Barichello also gone (to Williams) to make place for Rosberg, most probably.
It looks like they will have both new drivers for next year- may be Rosberg and Davidson??
So looking retrospectively should Brawn have kept Barichello, because his experience would have been vital?? Plus there could have been atleast 1 driver from this year in the team. Now Button will demand more knowing that team needs his experience too.
And secondly what about Button??
Surely only top team with seats remaining are Mclaren and Renault.
If Force India or even Manor F1 gives him his demand will he go there, just because of money??
And is he in for money or good seat?? I fail to understand him.
For me, if you have best seat you dont look at money.....

Perhaps they will end up with Nick Heidfeld.
I have to agree with you about Button, there is virtually nowhere to go. McLaren looks his best option if he leaves Brawn but there he will be no 2 to Lewis Hamilton.

Re: Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
If you ask me, Button is in F1 for the lifestyle, but comes off as a poor mans (im more ways than one) Kimi Raikkonnen. Thats just my personal opinion though

It's amazing how quickly a driver will take a coveted seat for granted. You would think after the years of being at the rear of the field he'd have some perspective on how much more valuable a fast car is than money. Although he's going to look pretty smart if the BGP02 is a dog.

I'm calling BS. Anything that quotes The Daily Mail deserves to be burned.
Seriously, this is probably the by-product of some over-zealous reporter who didn't see Button at the parade for Brawn in Brackley and didn't stop to consider that he'd only just gotten back from Japan and would have been jetlagged as hell. I know that article doesn't actually quote it, but I just saw another one that has the selfsame quote, but comes from The Daily Mail. Ross Brawn has aid he's 99% certain that Button will stay, so it becomes a question of who you're willing to believe? Ross Brawn, or an internet website running stories on a slow news day?
And Anthony Davidson won't get a race seat. He might be a nice guy and provide intelligent commentary, but he was under-performing in Super Aguri and brings no sponsorship.

Have to say I agree with you there except for Davidson under-performing, I honestly thought he did a good job for Super Aguri. He still probably won't get a drive though because of a lack of sponsorship which you already mentionned.
Re: Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
Your right on the Daily Mail, its a hateful paper that attempts to breed contempt. Its soprt section is rubbish, it nicks most of its stuff from tabloids and often is plainly false. On Button I do think a switch to McLaren is possible, British sponsors would be falling over themselves to sponsor McLaren and Bernie might support it as BBC's ratings would also increase. But Button won't leave unless McLaren offer him bundles, and Brawn will offer him plenty. Davidson isn't an adequate replacement, and unless Renault pull out and Kubica's available there's unlikely to be any more top clas drivers.

Re: Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
My favourite incident of tabloidism came during the fliming of Quantum of Solace. You've probably heard this story before, but anyway:
When they were making the film in Panama, they were shooting in Colon, which is a secondary city that has bled into Panama City proper (kind of like Yokohama and Tokyo). At the time, there was a protest from union workers on the opposite side of the city. They anted better pay or working conditions or something; the point of the story is not what they were asking for, but tha they were protesting to begin with.
Now, The Daily Mail (and a few other rags) picked up on this story. It started out innocuously enough, reporting that the production of the film had hit trouble after a group of youths had stolen sound equipment from the shooting location. Then the tabloids claimed that EON Productions paid off another group of youths to watch their equipment. This was supposedly a mistake, becaue the two groups of youths apparenty had a relationship not unlike the Crips and the Bloods in Los Angeles: namely, that they were a air of street gangs that were so bitterly opposed to one another that they openly started firefights with one another.
This was, mind you, a peaceful protest by workers on the other side of the city. The tabloids turned it into a gang war, and even went so far as to report that Daniel Craig had fired actual shots when the turf war spilled over. This naturally caused a lot of distress among the families of the cast and crew back in England, and EON released a statement saying that everyone was safe and nothing was as reported by the tabloids. And people still lap it up!
Seriously, if you're willing to believe what The Daily Mail tells you, you deserve to be hung out to dry as an example of internet stupidity. A little harsh, maybe ... but true.

Re: Both Brawn GP Seats May Be Changed
I'm going to employ the usual "Bingo! Somebody give that man a beer!" approach to Captain Hammer's views on this. Let me add the economic focus, just to complement that.
Three manufacturers have left F1 in the last year or so. It is a well-known fact that news teams are coming in, but these are all independent outfits, arguably with little money to spend. So, the willingness to pay (demand curve) for drivers has dropped.
Simultaneously, after a season where there were pretty much no changes in the paddock (and no entrants, bar Buemi and the middle-of-the-season drivers), pressure of recent graduates from lower categories is piling up at F1's doors, most of which are talented, starry-eyed precious young things, packing serious heat in their pockets. This glut of drivers will drop the willingness to accept (supply curve) of drivers.
Money running away and new kids on the block spells trouble for the well-paid old timers. The average F1 driver's salary will drop fast for the 2010 season. The teams know that; they also know that a driver is pretty close to a commodity these days, that they could get another one, just as good, any minute.
So, they are playing hard to get - just like the one blue-eyed girl in an Engineering department. It's coming their way. Brawn does not need to pay for Jenson, because he may eventually land a Kubica, a Glock or whatever to sit alongside Mercedes-sponsored Rosberg. Button (and the remaining drivers...) knows this as well, and he also knows he won't get as many choices outside Brawn to stay on top.
Remember how everyone said that as soon as Alonso signed for Ferrari, the pieces would fall in place? It didn't happen. That makes me think that maybe the teams suspected Toyota was on its way, and that Renault could follow. All of a sudden, Raikkonen and Button don't look so interesting anymore. Expect things to keep uncertain until Renault finally announces what their plans for 2010 are.

I don't trust nothing. Button will stay with Brawn, clear as water. I think he's no more the darling playboy he used to be. As for the rest, Renault will continue with Kubica and probably Glock and Raikkonen will go to McLaren. Simple.

I'm a human, and I make mistakes, OK? I'm not English, so I can make some mistakes at times. So please don't be harsh with me; after all, I'm the absolute best of my class in English.
BTW thanks for the correction
Do you speak Spanish? If not, I have the upper hand on this discussion, because I know your language, but you don't know mine.

Oh, don't be offended, your English is certainly better than my whatever your native language is. I was just joking - double negatives sound weird.

Never mind, the correct form was "I trust nothing", right? You can continue joking about if you like, but I like to put things clear, it's a vice I have.

I'll keep us on topic
Renault will only be present next year as an engine manufacturer - the team will be bought out by someone (maybe Prodrive, maybe Flavio if his ban's overturned) and compete in 2010. During the limbo period, Kubica will be openly talk to Brawn and McLaren, leading Button to stop bluffing and sign his damn contract. Kubica ultimately signs for McLaren, as he's muuuuch cheaper and easier to work with than Raikkonen. Kimi takes a year off, eats lots of ice cream and goes rallying.
PS. I'm stunningly bad at predicting stuff.
I coined the term "Lewisteria". The irony is that I actually quite like Lewis Hamilton.
