I guess it makes sence considering MVR have gone that way too.
Miserable Thierry (Boutsen) staggers round mostly on ten cylinders (out of 12) with no clutch, low oil pressure, bad brakes and no grip to finish tenth, 3 laps down...
(Murray Walkers review of Boutsen's Brazil 1991 race).
It looks like the KH-7 decals have also appeared on the front wing end plate, while still being at the rear wing. They also got the low-drag rear wing here for obvious reasons.

Wouldn't high downforce make it easier?

Yes, but they have that ultra low downforce rear wing, which is going to compromise their cornering speed. I don't get why the team whose car already has the least downforce at a normal medium downforce racetrack, but also has the highest straightline speed, doesn't try to run a higher downforce package at these high speed tracks, to bridge the downforce gap, at a cost of straightline speed, of course, which they can probably afford to do a little. Minardi used to come to Spa and Monza with ultra thin wings, as well.

I also expect them to announce KERS as well.
Good news. Sorry for being selfish, but I really wanted Cosworth to stay. They are somewhat linked to the whole spirit for me, both F1 spirit and reject spirit. Nice for HRT to have KERS. Hope now that they're settled they'll finally do a Caterham-level capable car or above.

Not too much of a surprise, but he'll make Karthikeyan, Maldonado and Grosjean look like Senna, Prost and Piquet.
I doubt he'd be that shite...

He's not turned a wheel in anger in 2012. His career high is a championship in Chinese TCC's secondary class. Probably the most F1-relevant racing he has ever done is British F3 National Class or Superleague Formula. At least Karthikeyan, Maldonado and Grosjean all raced in GP2 or World Series by Nissan before getting in an F1 car. It's not even that there aren't better Chinese drivers - Ho-Pin Tung and David Zhu would be better, but it seems Qing Hua has deeper pockets.

I do believe that he did enough mileage at the Young Driver Test at Silverstone to qualify for one. As to whether it has yet been issued or not is another matter.

What I have heard is that part of Ma development programme is to do 12 FP1's, YDT and 4 days Testing next year and he can get €6m for that, so all in all a BOTTAS deal

That's something like 15% of their money next year isn't it? Not bad for HRT.

Yep but Ma has some goods sponsors and plus HRT want 2 "pay drivers" for Narain seat. € 4 - 6m from Ma and €10 - 12m for who ever replaces Narain.

Giedo van der Garde could bring that sort of sponsorship, and has done some testing, assuming that he's realistic that he's not going to secure a Caterham drive for next season... Him or probably Charles Pic, if Marussia decide to keep changing second drivers. Other than them it's mainly Yamamotos and the like who have enough money.

Does anyone know how much approx does Narain bring? 10-12m sounds a lot, but could be more for India race I would think.
Thats loose change compared to the cash Pastor brings (apparently like 25-30mill!)
Id say Clos would bring some cash too. Is Pedro 100% confirmed as a driver next year. I know he signed a 2 year deal or so, but it that 2 years as a driver?

I heard €8million banded about as the amount that Karthikeyan's Tata sponsorship is worth. If that figure is true (I very much suspect that people pluck these numbers out of thin air), then he's probably able to make it up to €10-12million with smaller sponsors and one-off Indian GP sponsors. Just for a dubious comparison, Charles Pic's rumoured sponsorship is somewhere in the region of €6million, Giedo van der Garde also has about €6million, Bruno Senna brings a rumoured €14 million.
Again, going on rumours etc., Dani Clos has some sponsorship to bring (and he's been saving), but I doubt he could spend much more than €3million.

HRT will run its young driver Ma Qing Hua during first free practice for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Friday.
It will be Qing Hua's debut appearance at a world championship event having only previously driven for HRT at the Silverstone Young Driver Test earlier this year. It will also be the first time a Chinese driver has participated in a grand prix weekend. Qing Hua will replace Narain Karthikeyan during FP1 and said it was a key time in his progression.

Narain brings €7m from TATA for 17 races and €1.75m alone for India.
Dani accordingly has €3m for the last 3 races to replace Narain.
One thing Pic brings upto €15m that's why HRT needs to nearly double it's income from the 2nd driver.
MA QING HUA O Dani Clos ... WHO will own in 2013 in HRT?
Ma and Dani, Dani and Ma, both test drivers HRT and both with the dream of being something more in 2013, when the team will have to have a partner to play the GP's next to Pedro de la Rosa.'re The quarry team , and as such are lovingly cared knowing what each can represent in the future for the team. Ma is a young Chinese pilot, faster than his record marked start, and with a mission to pave the way for the Chinese investments in the Spanish team. Dani, by contrast, represents the natural replacement of Spanish driver Pedro as team. That is why the team needs both and each provides a necessary and essential part of the home team that can not give up. But which one will start in 2013? Only one seat available and two drivers fighting for her, so long as Pedro is a mainstay within the framework of the team led by Luis under the supervision of Saul. So who will own the seat in 2013?. Veamos. Let's see.
(Interesting article in a spanish web site, via google translate into the english version. Full article in the link below)
Whoever gets the drive depends entirely on where investment comes from. If the money comes from Spain, Clos will get the drive. If it comes from China, the seat will be Ma's.
I'm banking on China, myself. For one, Spanish companies have shown no interest in sponsoring or investing in HRT after three years of competition. Like Alain Prost before him, Adrian Campos fundamentally overestimated the public and corporate demand for a Spanish "national" team, and they have been struggling ever since. Even when they have a Spanish driver now in Pedro de la Rosa - the team's biggest sponsor is from India. Secondly, the Chinese economy is much stronger than the Spanish. The Chinese can afford to invest in Formula 1; at last check, Spain's unemployment rate was 25% and showed no signs of coming down.
Of course, there is always the possibility that de la Rosa will lose his seat and be repalced by Clos, who will subsequently race alongside Ma, but that sounds like a risky and ill-adivsed move to me.

I need help. About those cards from HRT you all seem to be offering. How do I? I've seen no info on the official site. Still available? Free or for fee?
