It was a solid strategy. You can't blame the strategists for a mechanical failure - who plans for that?

Quite - nobody within the team could have anticipated that Alonso would have picked up damage to his rear anti roll bar, so getting Alonso to give Massa a tow was probably a damage limitation move by the team to at least get Massa up as high as he could and stick a better chance of denying Vettel points.

Di Resta was excellent on his qualifying run but that five-spot penalty sill hurt him considerably. I'm hoping that Force India somehow gets another good result tomorrow.

Force India do have a chance of another decent haul of points today, which might help them open up a bit of a gap between themselves and Williams in the WCC. Hulkenberg was very unlucky in qualifying, but he has excellent straight line speed and put in some decent times during the longer runs on Friday, whilst Di Resta seems to have found a bit of form with those excellent qualifying laps - I only hope that both drivers make it through the usual first corner carnage intact.

Di Resta was that close to taking Senna out.

EDIT:Vergne sort of....messed up.

That had to be a mechanical problem. His wing slot was open so maybe it was the DRS.

Suspension failure, nothing Vergne could have done.

Though Di Resta seemed to try and kill Bruno Senna. Such a nice lad.

The left rear suspension failed, that sent him spinning onto the grass

Given how hard those guys race, I have a gut feeling that we'll see Vettel and Alonso collide. I mean, Ricciardo almost did an Inoue at the almost same corner.

Ferrari International Aid is working at Monza. Especially interesting if you look at the Di Resta/Bruno situation and the non-existant consequences...

This reminds me of the 1988 Italian Grand Prix. First, one Mclaren retires due to technical problems. Does that mean that the guest starter will take out Hamilton?

Felipe; you have two options. Either yield and be remembered as a pathetic loser, or hold position and be remembered as a racer.

Oh, it's pathetic loser.

In the grand scheme of things they had no real choice. It was either leave Massa ahead and have both their guys eaten up by Perez or let Alonso by and Massa play rear-gunner. Whether it's ethical or not however is an entirely different matter
