Anyway, happy to have Tõnu on the podium, looks like he isn't that useless after all.

Yeah, she got a little swamped at the start and got caught up when Nakaya and Reith locked up before the first corner.

Fix'd, good to know it wasn't entirely her fault. The team scored points in every race, I guess that's something of an achievement!

Oops, again I got that wrong. Note to self, Võsu is female.

If you want to make a driver change, the deadline will be Saturday for that.

Then I'll crack on with Adelaide.

Urm, I'm afraid to say everybody ran out of fuel 22 laps in. I've tried a ton of different distance settings, and everyone's running out with 2 laps to go...

Qualifying may need a re-run, I'm massively sorry about that...

Fixed it, had to decrease the fuel consumption so should be fine now.

Kostas, it was kinda out of my control...probably. I'm moderately new to GP2 so I'm still learning the setup and editors.

I still need to rerun qualifying though...I'll be in the sin bin.

F1RDS Round 1 - Australia

After it emerged that all of the cars were supplied with illegal fuel (with a higher octane number than the regulations allow), the qualifying and race had to be run later than expected.

I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the race length that happened, but now I can reduce fuel consumption so we don't have the mass retirements...if it happens again you can have my address and murder me in a creative way. And there's still 14 races to go...

Kingfisher add to Adelaide Atrocities
Mr.Alexander was not at all happy that the qualifying session was done again, following accusations that faster-burning illegal fuel was used to set the times. "It's proven to be a massive headache for the team. Thomas qualified a superb 2nd but was dumped down to 13th after the session was re-started. I'm not alone here, but the authorities really bathplug this weekend up for nearly every team. Still, that's racing. We remain quick in qualifying yet slow in the race, but we knew this when taking the VW engine on. Still, it gives both Tom and Stan valuable experience when fighting for track position. Even if they have poor seasons for us, we know both drivers have plenty of skill."

It's a good point, it might be due to the nature of the Adelaide circuit. In the Winter Cup, three Toyota users ended up in the top 3 of the Championship so I am more inclined to think it's the circuit.

But yes, it's a system I'd like to discuss with everyone in preparation for 2016.

For everyone that was disadvantaged by the re-running of the qualifying session, I will add half of the qualification points that would have been gained in Round 1 onto the perfs of drivers who dropped out of the top 10, i.e. Butler, de Boer and Silva.

Two races at Imola next, I'll use them to ensure this series becomes a little more professional...

EDIT: I should probably nominate myself for ROTR as well.

I also have a problem with this. How likely is it that a Toyota will qualify in the top 10 anytime soon? Awarding points for qualifying is basically saying "Oh, you have a VW engine? Here, have a bigger advantage," and the Toyota cars will fall further behind in quali and struggle to even make the top 10 in the races.

In what universe is an Opel a Toyota?

Sorry, I mean top 6...

I also have a problem with this. How likely is it that a Toyota will qualify in the top 10 anytime soon? Awarding points for qualifying is basically saying "Oh, you have a VW engine? Here, have a bigger advantage," and the Toyota cars will fall further behind in quali and struggle to even make the top 10 in the races.[/quote]

You break my bawrs Hans, you break my bawrs...

No, you do raise a good point. I will admit I should have thought about that before, and perhaps I felt I could rush the regulations and proceedings by basing it on something I already knew. I think the best course of action would be to scrap qualifying points for now. EVERYTHING will be revisited in time for next season, so that we have a series that's not as flawed as it currently is. I thought that the VW cars would slide down the field like butter, but it's not completely been proven to be the case. The plan was to give them more of a fighting chance by helping them in qualifying, but due to having more power anyway it turns out it's a bit pointless.

This has been something of an inauspicious start to the series, I guess.

It's a good job you and Wizzie advise me on things, otherwise this series would be anarchy. Probably.

I was also going to raise a point about the balance problems of awarding performance points in the qualifying and race. TMLW sums it up perfectly, but I'd say it's just as reasonable to argue that the same situation will occur in races. Take the underpowered cars in the race, they finish badly because they're down on power, so how are they supposed to get to the front and improve over the year? They're just going to get left behind by the drivers who'll just keep collecting more and more performance each race.

I'm sorry to bash your idea, I think in theory it's excellent and a great way of rewarding success, but I think for it to work properly you need a spec series with just one chassis and engine.

Yeah, that is true. I think the results in Adelaide have proved that sometimes the lesser-powered cars in the race can get some good results though, so we should be able to finish the season as we are. Shukinen got a rather good result in the last race, and hence he's got some points to his name to ensure that he's got a chance of going away with more. In theory, Monaco might play into their hands more too so it's not going to be a complete whitewash.

A spec-series would probably be looked at for 2016, because as you said the performance system would be more effective then. I'll draft an upgrade system for then as well. I don't want to write off this season though, because on the basis of the last race we could have quite an interesting season.

Or, alternatively, you can do the performance files based solely on experience rather than results like in the F2RWRS.

But that's a lottery isn't it Wizzie? I never made any requests for Hawkin to be a great driver, nor did The Lukas say anything about Kremnicky. Then you have the members who are so obsessed with success in a fictional championship that they brand their drivers' experience as if they've been driving for 20 years. That sort of system is fine, but is not only random, but also clearly open to abuse.

Actually, the Lukas wanted Kremnicky to be a good driver but that plan was shot in the water about 12 laps into the first race of last year. After the first round of drivers however, most of the new guys came in with either F3RWRS experience like Hawkin (and considering he nearly won the F3RWRS title despite missing a race, my estimation for the performance file was pretty much spot-on anyway  ) and most of the 2015 rookies, or ROLFS experience like Buyvolov and Pascal which meant I could calculate stats based on those results. Incidentally, with the singular exception of Cieslar, that closed the gap between the top drivers and worst drivers from 1000 to 800 points which meant that the field closed up even further, particularly during qualifying and in spite of the new engine regulations.
