Round of Australia Race 2
At race start, once again drivers had problems with the chicane. Greenlaw and Piscine both spun as they cut it, while Davies and Reatherson managed to keep control. The chaos caused a traffic jam, with only Melrose, Harmsky, van der Maeyede and the two ZimSports getting through, although Davies wasn't far behind them.

Turn 4 saw a lot of action. First off was between Tyler Buckley and Peter Port. The West Cliff was well and truly ahead and Tyler must have misjudged it, as he turned in and made contact with Port's rear wheel. He launched into the barrier but managed to continue with no damage, while Port simply continued on his way. Buckley was still in the thick of it though, as Mondlane came around the slow Gulf car at turn 5, where they made contact. Mondlane had a violent smash, rolling a few times before coming to rest, and was sent to the medical centre for a check.

Back at turn 4, Nick Nurmester and Diego Mauricio Batistuta came together similar to the Port/Buckley contact, but Nurmester wasn't so lucky and retired from the hit. Further back there was more contact, as Eric Swerts turned in on Shane Walsh. But with Nurmester's car still there, Swerts had nowhere to go and joined him on the sidelines.

At turn 9, JLD's weekend came to an early end. Joel Melrose and Joe Harmsky were the major beneficiaries of Greenlaw's spin at the chicane. As they came to turn 9, Harmsky lauched a dive up the inside, and got it done until Melrose turned in. Melrose would hit the wall, retire and receive a penalty, while Harmsky spun and lost a few spots. At the same time, Davies made a simply brilliant move to pass van der Maeyede, Zimmer and Melville all at once into 9, taking the race lead in the process.

There were yet more collisions though, as Victoria Desai ran up the backside of Reatherson and took his spot. The investigation determined that it wasn't worthy of penalty points, but she did get a 5 second time penalty. Tetsuya Takagi and Bob Sampson in the other Kamaha also came together, with Takagi turning in and spinning Sampson.

Lap 2 saw Jantscher and McAllister come together at turn 4. McAllister launched a move and Jantscher didn't see him, moving across under braking and putting McAllister into a wall, as shame as he was very high in the field.

Jose Maria Cabral ended Porto Wine's race at turn 7 when a wheel fell off, while John Zimmer nearly tore his hair out when Melville and Ryan Zimmer came together at turn 9, fortunately without any consequences. The two were stuck behind van der Maeyede and struggling to pass the Kingfisher. Hendra Naufal ended his race early, running very wide at 9, completely on his own and hitting the barriers.

Roland Davidson had an embarrassing incident at the end of the lap. After he encountered a suspension problem and tried to pit, he did a David Coulthard and retired. Iulian Pitea also had his second electrical issue in two days.

Lap 3 saw Melville pass Zimmer at turn 4, then fail at passing van der Maeyede at turn 9. Greenlaw had caught the three of them and launched a surprise attack on Zimmer at turn 9, with slight contact. By turn 4 next lap, Greenlaw had got past Melville on the main straight and van der Maeyede at the exit of the chicane.

At turn 4, Lamberigts, Harmsky and the two Aeroracing cars were fighting between each other when Harmsky completely missed his braking point and hit the barrier at the exit, retiring. As he came around a bit later, Branko Ristic hit his stricken car before it could be craned away and very nearly hit a marshall.

Anita Horford made a mistake at turn 8, spinning as she ran wide and only saved from the inside wall by Peter Port who came by at the wrong time. Fortunately he managed to keep control and lost minimal time.

Lap 5 saw Jan Maylander, way out of position after the first lap chaos, desperately defending from Paul Travesen as he made his way through the field. Maylander went way to the right on the run to turn 4, giving Travesen no room whatsoever. He was so intent on holding his spot he missed his braking spot and went straight into the wall. Anita Horford's race went from bad to worse as she came into the corner too fast and hit his car.

The rest of lap saw more action. Yuri Sokolov had been right under Roberto Dinella's rear wing when Dinella ran very wide at turn 6. Unsighted, Sokolov also ran wide and spun around, losing some time. Tyler Buckley spun at turn 8, and ended up resting against the inside wall. Martin van der Maeyede ruined a brilliant race by hitting the outside wall at turn 11 and needing a front wing, finally releasing the ZimSport whoe were still stuck behind him and now had Souto Maior and Desai breathing down their necks.

The race started to quiet down after that as the field spread out. Fusion's race went sour when Moreira retired with an oil leak on lap 6, Bainomugisha had to pit with a loose wheel and Shane Walsh hit the turn 11 wall.

Lap 9 saw Daniel Melville retire from a potential podium as his engine caught fire on the back straight, while Nathanael Cameron had to pit after his electrics started to fail. Martin van der Maeyede also retired, a transmission issue putting him out and he parked right in front of Melville's car, who didn't look too impressed.

Calvin Brooks had a scary moment at turn 8 on lap 12, when his tyre burst as he took the corner. He hit the outside wall, and was lucky he slowed beforehand otherwise it could have been much worse.

By this point, Jordan Davies had a huge lead over Greenlaw, who was catching but not nearly fast enough to challenge for the win. Desai had passed Zimmer as had Quentin Reatherson, Dorien Lamberigts and Dale Hamilton (who was having a brilliant race), while Zimmer was holding up Souto Maior big time until they came together at turn 12 (Souto Maior forced Zimmer way wide, who took offence and turned in). Zimmer's run came to an end the following lap when he hit the fence at turn 6.

There would be three more retirements in the last two laps, Takagi's engine going up in flames on lap 15, Takuma Taki, running in the top 10, picking up a puncture at the start of lap 16 and spinning at the chicane, and Roberto Zayas who locked his brakes at turn 9 and went straight into the fence. Marko Jatscher also stuffed up, running wide at turn 11 and losing a front wing.

Davies wound up taking the race win, 10 seconds ahead of Greenlaw who set the fastest lap on the last lap. Victoria Desai managed a podium despite her penalty, while Lamberigts and Hamilton battled around the final lap, Lamberigts coming out on top. Peter Port had real pace at the end, but it was too late to do much with it.

To finish just outside the points again is frustrating, to say the least, but I'm sure points will come with time.

Today, I could have score points, but again we go home with nothing. Admittedly, I put just a little too much power down and the car snapped round, I managed to keep it out of control but the wall was already there.

Race went well, pace good, but puncture ruin control and I crash.

If I handn't, errrrrrr, spun at chicane I could have scored, errrr, lots of points but errrrr, we'll have to wait for points it, er, seems/.

I am happy with West Cliff Racing today. Both drivers achieved the targets that I set for them - Jordan won from pole, and Peter Port not only managed to get into the top-10 from 30th on the grid, but also score his first point in 8th place (despite the attacks on his car by a few other drivers!).

Reject of the Weekend: Eric Swerts

You can say that again! I cannot seriously believe that my top driver in the F3RWRS has had such an abysmal start to the year. Eric's performance is a cause for concern, and I'll be monitoring his progress closely over the next race weekend. Whilst I don't want to see him fall foul of under-performing, if things continue to deteriorate then we'll have to re-evaluate our driver line-up.

16th is-a okay. I was-a 'oping for better but my-a first weekend 'as been-a good. I 'ope for-a some improvement at the next-a race, maybe points if we are-a lucky.

Victoria Desai looks like a real talent, and has got us off to a great start. Here penalty was a bit harsh as she was faster then Reatherson and he was driving like a rock ape but it did not effect the result, although she had bodywork damage and was losing about 0.8 second per lap so she could have challenged for 2nd place. Takagi shock Bob Sampson confidence but he still battled up to 12th, hopefully this shows some senile team owners **cough** Jones **cough** that Kamaha are a complete team. Tatsuya Kahama who was here this race as a guest thought it was nostalgic to see the top three as it was West Cliff, Prospec and Kamaha, all founder teams of the F1RWRS.

Overall, it was a satisfactory weekend for the F3 team. Raul has performed well and Diego has potential but needs time to settle in the team. As for the oil leak on one of the Fusions, Audi will investigate the damaged unit to see what was the cause of the failure and rectify it as soon as possible.

And I have one more thing to say: if Ryan Zimmer ever tries to deliberately turn into one of my drivers again, he'll have very serious problems with me. It's one thing to carelessly move across a driver trying to overtake, which, while disgraceful, is not intentional, and another one to try to take someone out of the race. I think his action was more than deserving of penalty points.

Who the hell is Jordan Davies?

The F3RWRS is meant to showcase the F1RWRS stars of the future - in this, I think they can say job well done, as they have allowed Jordan Davies to come from absolutely nowhere to finish second in his first race, and win his second from pole. Very little is known about Jordan, other than the fact that he is a cousin of F1RWRS journeyman James Davies, and his seemingly prodigious talent behind the wheel. I managed to get some details from his cousin James in an attempt at shedding some light on his early career - Jordan himself is still too busy celebrating his win, even now.

Born February 19th, 1995, Jordan did not begin racing karts until he was 11 years old. He won his first four races, however, but generally did not shine too much - his karting career is peppered with distant seconds to various other competitors, and all signs seemed to point to him as only above-average at best. At the age of 18, Jordan moved to British Formula Ford, where he finished a distant 6th in his debut season, mostly finishing 4th or 5th, with only a couple of 3rds. Last year's effort was a bit better though, with 10 podium finishes and a not-so-distant 3rd place finish in the championship, though he still did not win a race, meaning that his victory in race 2 is his first in single seaters, and his first in over 2 years.

Admittedly, this still does little to explain where Jordan's turn of pace came from - though James does note that, 'generally he had to deal with underfunded ramshackle operations of the sort that make Mecha GP look professional'. So, it seems that his talent was obscured by terrible machinery, but he managed to rise into the official RWRS series' regardless.

This car, it's no good, terrible terrible driving by idiots Lucarelli and Crescenzi...I knew we should have quit this program for WRC but they don't listen. OK, we still try to improve, but, this does not look so good for the rest of the season. For sure, Alessandro is on thin ice now.

I split the field in two, run one qualifying and race, run the second qualifying and race, merge the results. I take notes on who the lap leader was in each individual race (and what times they set so I can figure who was leading overall), take screenshots of big incidents, take notes on major incidents, and use these to write a review.

Round of Turkey Race 1

The second row of the grid made a brilliant start, with Jordan Davies leading Daniel Melville into turn 1. The race stayed clean until turn 7, where Lorenzo Crescenzi had a massive brain fade and tried to pass his teammate from way too far back. The result: both Parma Corse cars went to the back of the field and Alasdair Lindsay hit the bottle early. That wasn't the end of it either as Lucarelli got some revenge at turn 12, but this time neither managed to spin.

Eric Swerts got unlucky at turn 9. As he came down the hill, he went to pass Dorien Lamberigts but misjudged his line and made contact. The good news was neither spun. The bad news was their slow speed at the apex caught the close following Nathanael Cameron unawares, who couldn't avoid Swerts and sent the Belgian spinning.

A bit further back there was more action, as Iulian Pitea defended from Jose Maria Cabral. Cabral locked up and had nowhere to go but to hit the Dofasco, dropping both back. The stewards handed Cabral penalty points, but obviously someone forgot to tell Pitea, because the next lap he didn't even bother stepping on the brakes and simply ran up Cabral's backside. Pitea got a 65 point penalty, and as the stewards were deciding whether to disqualify him his car failed and he was out of the race anyway.

Turn 8's first victim was Roland Davidson, who missed the first apex and spun trying to go too fast. Shortly afterwards the second round of intra-team madness struck, this time down at Octan as Bainomugisha got a poor run out of 8 and decided to aggressively chop in front of his teammate, just avoiding contact. Not that he held the spot anyway, locking up into turn 9 and watching Dorien sail up the inside.

Turn 1 also saw Hendra Naufal rack up some penalty points as he moved across on Leandro Moreira in the braking zone, causing the Fusion to spin. A lap later, Bainomugisha was in even more trouble as he did the same thing to the luckless Nathanael Cameron, although Cameron managed to keep control.

Joe Harmsky nerly ruined a good race at turn 8, running way out wide over the kerbs at turn 8 on lap 4, keeping control by the skin of his teeth. Dale Hamilton and Judd McAllister came together at turn 9, with McAllister spinning and nearly collecting Horford, while Lorenzo Crescenzi almost spun at turn 11 as he ran way too wide.

Kevin Bainomugisha's day came to an end when an oil leak ended his race on lap 5, while Roberto Dinella, struggling to match the pace of those around him, also retired when he spun at turn 8, and in the heavy traffic it was predictably Nathanael Cameron who hit him, the Prospec needing a front wing. Just behind them Dale Hamilton also spun.

Turn 8 claimed yet another victim on lap 6, this time a front runner in Ryan Zimmer, who didn't trouble the first apex but managed to keep his spin completely off track. Lamberigts also had more contact at turn 9, this time with Carsten Jancker, but only the Octan spun. Samora Mondlane repeated Cabral's incident from earlier at turn 9 but on Tetsuya Takagi rather than a Dofasco, spinning the Japanese and racking up some penalty points.

At just after half distance, Jordan Davies held a 3 second lead over Melville, with Greenlaw and Paul Travesen fighting over the final podium spot another 2 behind. Jantscher was fifth, Desai up to sixth and Joel Melrose in seventh, the JLD with no pace at all, but at least faster than Nurmester who had already dropped out of the points.

On lap 7 the situation changed, as at turn 9 Davies ran over some debris and cut his tyre to shreds. He had to park at the exit of turn 10 and watch the ZimSport go by to take the race lead.

Leandro Moreira and Bob Sampson came together at turn 1 on lap 8, Carsten Jancker came very close to throwing a top 10 out the window at turn 8 as he clattered over the kerbs, and Takagi got unlucky at turn 10 again, this time with Jan Maylander getting stupid.

Martin van der Maeyede was 8th, defending from Ryan Zimmer who had dropped out of the points after his spin, when at turn 1 on lap 9 Zimmer went down the inside only for van der Maeyede to come across on him and make contact. Both spun, with Zimmer making a fairly quick recovery. Van der Maeyede, for some reason, couldn't get his car moving again, and eventually switched it off and walked away.

At turn 7, Swerts suffered severe brain fade, as he simply failed at braking and ran right into Jancker, spinning the Hydook around. Not only did it cost Jancker, it cost his teammate as well, Branko Ristic thundering onto the scene and driving straight into Jancker's stranded car, costing both their front wings. Before they could get going the scene was covered in smoke from Takagi's engine grenading itself. When they did get going, Ristic picked up a point penalty when he held Lamberigts out to dry at turn 8.

The problem for Hydook was that both drivers needed to pit, but were about a second apart when they got to turn 12. What was the decision? To leave both cars out to do the final lap. After Ristic's work on Lamberigts, the stewards were already in action, and an investigation has been launched into Hydook's actions to see if a penalty is necessary.

The final lap saw Quentin Reatherson retire from 8th with a puncture, and Calvin Brooks park near the back straight with a gearbox failure. And a lot of drivers waving fists at the Hydooks. But after all that, Daniel Melville won his first race of the season, leading home Dan Greenlaw and Paul Travesen by about 2 seconds. Marko Jantscher took fourth, Victoria Desai fifth, and Joel Melrose, Peter Port and Franc Piscine the final points positions.

For sure, the qualifying wasn't good and this made my race more difficult. Well done to Marko for another good result, and we need to get my car up to that level.

Jordan Davies qualified and raced well today, doing well to get fastest lap. That puncture was just unfortunate. I hope he doesn't blame himself for it and can start focusing on the next race.

Jones: "Melrose is a disgrace to the sport"

Following reports that Daniel Melrose, the boss of the MRT team has been in talks with Scuderia Alitalia to offload Dan Greenlaw from his development programme, Sammy Jones has emerged, labelling the revelation as "shameful". The Brit, who operates his own Jones Racing team and has a number of young drivers under his wing also, had this to say to the media following the publication of Melrose's comments,

"I had previously held Daniel in high regard. We had an excellent year together when he drove for Castrol Jones Racing in the F1RWRS, but this for me changes everything. He's clearly going behind his own young drivers' backs and negotiating their careers for them, it's a total disgrace, and he should be ashamed for trying to manipulate the futures of young, inexperienced drivers. They haven't a hope in hell if they sign up to a development programme that just dumps them after less than half a season."

Jones went on to add that he was unsurprised to hear that the notorious Scuderia Alitalia team were involved, negotiating a deal to pick up Greenlaw from MRT,

"Well that's no surprise is it really. They practically fell over themselves to sign up Kremnicky last year, and these discussions just underline how desperate they are to try and achieve success. For me it can only be a hollow victory, they have no consideration for the drivers they hire, only that they bring success for the team. It's selfish, manipulative and exploitative. If I were Greenlaw I'd just walk away from it all, you only have to see how Alitalia are treating Ben Fleet in the F1RWRS to see what their management is like once a driver has a bit of a rough patch."

On a serious note here, I'm assuming this exchange took place during the F2RWRS race commentary, which I was unfortunate to miss, but I think it's incredibly rude to Tristan1117 to go behind his back and manipulate where his drivers are going. I would hope common sense would prevail and that he'd be allowed a final say in anything and that his driver wouldn't just be traded about. It's okay when its your own drivers under your control, but you have to have a certain amount of respect for drivers of other members that you happen to employ on a team/development programme/whatever.
