Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
In the fashion of East Londoner's ROTR, let's nominate the best drive of this Grand Prix
Vettel takes the cake for me. In all my hatred for Goldfinger, I must admit he nailed it.
Also Kimi, for winning this Grand Prix and being awesome.

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
Vettel was incredibly lucky, there's no way I can give it to him.
1) Raikkonen
2) Kobayashi - very quiet race, but that's what you needed in this one!

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
Sebastian Vettel - How the hell can you take anything away from him? Started last because of the same problem that ruined Hamilton in Spain, was nearly taken out by Ricciardo in the first safety car period, forced to pit yet again just afterwards, was nearly screwed over by Senna and Grosjean on multiple occasions. You really have to be a reject to give him anything less than an IIDotR.
Kimi Raikkonen - Finally.
Kimi Raikkonen - Finally.
Sticking his neck on the line, one post at a time. Oh, and Singapore is still better than Monaco.

Then I'm happy to be a reject, thanks!

2) Raikonnen - Awesome drive to control it through all that ardour

My nomination goes to...
Yas Marina International Circuit - that was a fantastic race, every bit as good as India was bad.
Seriously:
1. Raikkonen
2. Kobayashi

I'll have to agree with you there, and ignore Pamphlet. It's opinion, after all.
But yeah, pitting early before the first safety car did help him quite a lot. I did expect a drive like that from Vettel as well - he's a championship contender, so he's hardly gonna dawdle in amongst the Toro Rossos, is he?

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
A few candidates here!
Vettel for finishing on the podium from the pitlane is amazing, whatever happened with the safety cars etc. And he was going to finish comfortably ahead of Webber- who started 2nd!
Kimi for winning in a Lotus
Maldonado for a very good weekend in a Williams: maxed out the car's potential.
My IIDOTR is
1) Kimi
2) Vettel

1. Kimi - Duh.
2. Vettel - I was actually thinking, with his pace, that he would win from the pitlane. I would have been happy with that but I am still happy with Kimi winning. (Duh.) Drives like these confirm why Vettel is a worthy champion in 2012.
Honourable Mentions:
Hamilton- Actually did well until McLaren let him down.... again!!!

Kimi- for the win, and for his reaction of the win
Vettel- I think he was incredibly lucky today, but I still think his podium was pretty impressive. As much as I was hoping he wouldn't get it.

1. Kimi Raikkonen - really did not expect him to take control of the race like he did.
2. Pastor Maldonado - a very strong race despite having no pace at the end of his first stint. He's getting there.

Raikkonen
Vettel.
Both proved their point today.
In another note the top drivers have really proved themselves as that over the last few races in terms of clean racing. The midfield runners on the other hand have not covered themselves in much glory lately.

1) Kimi Raikkonen: obviously
2) This is a tough one, but I am going to give it to Pastor Maldonado. Very strong race, even after that rather poor first stint as mentioned.
Honorable mentions go to:
- Vettel; let's face it, there was some luck involved though his drive was indeed good.
- Kobayashi; a sorely needed result after the two awful races at Korea and India; this will improve his chances for a seat.
- Hamilton; he would have been the runaway winner if his car didn't pack up.
- Grosjean; was having a good race until Perez channeled his inner Andy Neate and ruined his race.

1. Sebastian Vettel: Proved the doubters wrong. Very impressive overtakes and a great recovery from his messy start.
2. Kimi Räikkönen: Who expected him to win here? Even though some could say he was lucky with Hamilton's retirement, it's about time Kimi benefits from other drivers' bad luck instead of vice versa.

Re: Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Aby Dabby
Plenty of greateness here, but the best of all were...
Sebastien Vettel: Der Wunderkind showed why he's a champion with a massive recovery race. Showing agression, hunger for more and that level of insanity antics that some wsanted from him. What and enf of season this is gonna be.
Kimi Räikkönen: The Iceman is back. Cool as no one else, even than his own team.
Honorable mentions for Bruno Senna (simmilar recovery race a-la Vettel, but with less equipment), Pastor Maldonado (The Reverend stayed with the big boys) and Kamui Kobayashi (stayed out of trouble and gained more points for Sauber)
The Clash of the Titans Award goes to Fernando Alonso for that ballsy overtake over Mark Webber. DRS? Who need that?

Tomorrow should be declared Kimi Räikkönen day and be a public holiday!
Great qual, driving, and pit radio broadcast. Much happiness for the iceman and well deserved win.

Kimi Raikkonen - Finally.
It was a good drive from Vettel, granted, but anyone cannot deny that at least half of it was down to luck, sheer, sheer luck. The timing of the safety cars helped him a lot because it wiped out everyon'e advantage, accidents cleared a lot of compitors out of his path who may have held him up later, and Ricciardo's dumb slam on the brakes antics actually lucked Vettel into a great strategy. And the luckiest thing of all? Starting from the pitlane MADE his race. If he had stopped a couple of metres earlier, he would have enough fuel for the sampel, would start 3rd, and probably would have dropped back to his lack of pace in quali and Red Bulls arrogant 'we don't need top speed snarf snarf' attitude. I won't deny it's a great drive, but I don't think it was all down to him
Anyway, nominations....
1- IceMan. Magnums on Lotus, me thinks?
2- Pastor Maldonado Great quali lap AGAIN, dropped back a little today but 5th with no accidents is very respectable.
Honourable Mention to Vettel.

1. Vettel - I thought he was brilliant today. After Ricciardo pushed him into te styrofoam I thought his day was done. It is one things to be lucky, but it takes a considerable amount of skill to capitalize on it. Vettel made his own luck today.
2. Raikkonen - Vintage drive from Raikkonen.

I agree with 1. Vettel and 2. Räikkönen. Honorable mentions go to Kobayashi, Maldonado, Senna and Alonso, he did improbably well to get so close to Kimi near the end, I think.

While Kimi is the one that gets the honourable mention, I'm giving the real Infinite Improbability Award to: Nico Hülkenberg, Mark Webber, Sergio Pérez, Rrrrrrrmmmmmnnnn Grrrrrrrrjjjjjjjnnnn, Jean-Éric Vergne, The Dull Scotsman, Britney Spears, Cucumber, The Finger's mechanics, Lewis Hamilton's engine, and anyone or anything else who conspired to make the impossible possible. Most of those are also candidates for Reject Of The Race, but throw them all into this one maelstrom of incident, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was actually interesting to watch, and who would have said that on Thursday morning? Next thing you know, there'll be a pig flying past Bernie's office window. Or it'll rain in the desert next year.

Raikkonen and Vettel. I've never bought into all the Vettel hate - what more does he have to do to prove that he is a great driver? Bad luck had as much of a say in has race as good luck did so I'd argue that his result was generated by ability, not luck.
Maria De Villotta will forever be badass. Rest in Peace.
