Re: F1RWRS -- 2015 Season (Monaco GP, page 27)
In other news, the Mad Uncle will be on holidays for three weeks in December and January which means, heaven forbid, he won't be around to make you guys' lives a living hell on and off the track. Depending on how quickly Aerond does the North American races, that'll mean at least one of the F2RWRS races will be delayed until a few weeks until after the corresponding F1RWRS race.

Whilst helping out with transferring all the wiki stuff yesterday, I stumbled across something even the mad Uncle himself doesn't know about. So I ask you all, just who in the hell was Andrea Massini?

Quite possibly the most anonymous driver in F1RWRS history. I think I have a story relating to him.

It was one of those drivers (like Jesus Plaza or Yu Hiang-Hao) I had to include when TMLW and other team owners forgot to enter two drivers at the beggining of the 2013 season.
About the Mexico GP, I'll resume with the series this evening with PreQ and Qualifying for the Mexico race. How about having the race tomorrow or on Friday?

I'm all for it! Even better now that the Wiki is back on.

That would imply aerond does helmets. He pretty much doesn't.

With the servers crapping themselves at precisely the same time the Mexican GP was supposed to be, when will the race be held instead?

RACE
Another race and another win by Mark Dagnall, his 3rd in a row and a one which seems important as it allows him to open a gap over Rhys Davies, in a weekend where the MRT driver looked rather apathetic, maybe overwhelmed by the massive pole position achieved by David Neuberg in his first outing for the Bmw partenered team. Not only Davies suffered to achieve the 3rd place by trying really hard to get past Mori and Vantini (incredibly his MRT didn't seem to have the needed top speed to do this) but he suffered a terminal brakes problem on lap 72 and only got the 5th place in the end. Neuberg, on the other hand, did a good job, and seemed capable to fight with Dagnall for the win until it showed the 3 stop strategy used by the current champion was the good one, then, trying to defend the lead (or at least to postpone losing it) he tried in vain to intimidate Dagnall when they were running in parallel at the entrance of the Peraltada and lost grip, even touching the wall before spinning. That move nearly cost him what had been a brilliant race up to that point, but then he just calmed down, realised he had a enormous gap over Davies and enjoyed the rest of the run to his first podium finish in the series.
Jones and Gillet also had good weekends with the 4 cars fighting for the restant points positions after the Kamahas inevitably expired mid race (and almost at the same time), with Vantini setting himself solidly in the 3rd place of the championship and Jones only missing the points by a few seconds, in a race where Moll, for once, looked above average. Also remarkable run by Jari Kekkonen, who came back on form with no trouble setting the fastest time in Pre-Q and finishing in 8th place.
On the downside we first must talk about Aeroracing, The Stig simply didn't have his weekend, but Pippa Mann was doing again an excellent job when the car let her down. Aeroracing must up their game if they want to finish any high in the constructors championship to get a good budget for next season. We also didn't see good signs coming from Arrowtech; Saeed Al Faisal was for once doing a respectable race when the car failed, and Mirko Bosevic move was truly rejectful. When he was going to be laped by Mark Dagnall he waved across the second straight only to get accidentally hit by the Dgn (which miracously didn't break its Fw) only to lose control and stamp the green painting into the wall, a move well worth our ROTR award. Honourable mention goes to Andrea Battani, who was a moving chicane until his car expired. Also more negative signs from Sunshine (Martins couldn't qualify) and Kingfisher in a track which apparently didn't suit the car. Nicolas also felt the lack of knowledge on his new machinery and scored a surprising DNQ. An extra mention goes to Foxdale which only went noticed as it is the team falling into Pre-Qualifying for the round at Long Beach.
And that was it, basically Dagnall destroyed everyone with a three stop strategy against two stops by most of the people, with a light car he scored fastest lap after fastest lap and went agressively for the win when the moment came instead of waiting for strategy to work his way.

DOTR -- David Neuberg; Despite his spin, he managed the pressure well and scored a fantastic pole position and a podium, being also miles ahead of his teammate all weekend.
ROTR -- Mirko Bosevic; Needs to learn what the blue flags mean.

I had a dream this morning that the two MRTs were 12th and 14th on the grid, Dagger's boy was on the front row and Nicolas had somehow plonked the Kingfisher on pole. Let's see how much of that dream actually transpires...

Daniel Melrose wrote:Man, it feels good to be back on the grid for a race. Mexico City's a track which I enjoy driving on so hopefully I'll be able to sneak in a point or two. However, in order to do that, we'll have to actually have a race pace advantage this year over our immediate rivals as reliability has been much better over the entire field this season than in recent years.
Wait, Neuberg on pole? Not bad. I always knew the kid could string a lap together. We'll see if he can carry that form into the race tomorrow but if he keeps this good form up over the next three races, he could find his way straight into a MRT seat next year. And what on earth was that Phillippe?

Mark Dagnall said:
Well, I'm obviously not too happy about our qualifying result. Today, there was a driver clearly ahead of the rest and it'll be a hard task chasing him tomorrow. However, Rhys Davies is not too far and I think we should be able to cut the gap tomorrow as we usually run better on Sunday. The start will be hard as there're lots of good drivers around me so to me it'll be a matter of getting through the first corner in Top 10 and then build on from there.
Fredo Mestolio said:
We're quite happy to have qualified and escape Pre-Qualifying at the next event but I'm trying yet to understand why we were faster in Pre-Qualifying than during Qualifying, but that only goes to show how tight things are to qualify for races this year. For the race I don't expect much but I hope we can bring both cars home.

Despite pundits heavily tipping Alitalia junior driver Andrej Kremnicky to make the step up to F1RWRS as team-mate to David Koczo next season, Scuderia Alitalia team principal Andrea Sassetti has left the door open for recent signing Ben Fleet to continue in 2016.
"The incentive is there," said Sassetti. "We aren't going to just hand him a contract extension for free, he has to earn it. But if he can put in good performances for the rest of the season, then there is definitely scope for him to stay on for next season. The second half of our driver lineup is not decided and will not be until the end of the season."
"I will be honest and say we're beyond the point of pretending Kremnicky and van Nieuwenhuijzen aren't possibilities for the drive. But neither have been cutting it in F2RWRS, and they will have to improve leaps and bounds to be in with even a chance of a drive next year. Fleet has experience at top teams, this is invaluable and something the rookies can't provide. Only a rookie with enormous potential could usurp that."

Maybe I need to spend some of Foxdale existing credits on the team's performance before the next round? And it's great to see that Ben Fleet is qualifying and that Pippa Mann is near the front (as always!).

Daniel Melrose wrote:Well, I haven't driven a race distance in a long time so a little bit of fatigue was starting to creep in by the end, but 9th is still a reasonable effort first time out for the General's men. What is clear this year however is that we have the top four teams pretty much locking out the top end of town more often than not, and then we have this midfield gaggle of 5th down to about 16th or 17th in the teams' championship figthing it out for the scraps, which means we absolutely have to be on top of everything week in, week out to even stand a chance of scraping in a point or two.
As far as MRT go, Neuberg did a superb job first time out for our guys but his rookie mistake midway though the race did cost him any shot he had in victory. Dagnall was probably quicker than our guys today and it'll probably take some minor miracle to start closing down the gap again. It certainly wasn't helped however by Rhys' car crapping itself on the last lap, which brings our tally up to 12 points that we have lost with late-race problems. And I can assure you that somebody's gonna get a real arse-kicking when we get to the bottom of it, assuming Rhys doesn't get to them first. And finally, we'd like to remind Phillippe that we expect him to perform in what is fundamentally a good car and that not-qualifying is simply unacceptable, and we'd like to apologise to Kingfisher for his incompetence. If he keeps this up, we do have a fully capable replacement raring to go in Nathan McKane, who from memory now qualifies for a Reject License thanks to his recent round win at Blackwood.

PRE-QUALIFYING
15.Marie Simon (Revolution) -- 1.22.364 (+2.041)
This should have been Shinobu Katayama... as we would have been within the rules to have the two more driver changes.
Shinobu Katayama wrote:I was disappointed that the series management decided not to grant my super licence transfer yet, meaning that I could not prequalify the car, Shizuka did a great time and I feel I would have matched his pace and we should have been in qualifying and in the race. Although I did have a chuckle when I saw that Martins failed to qualify that crate of a car and that Kay Lon just about dragged his car into the race.
Barii Mori wrote:Fantastic front row, although Neuberg looked like he was driving another car altogether with his 1.17s as me and Pippa were the only drivers to get into the 1.18s. I am hoping his race pace falls from him and our car stays in one piece. Steele struggled for pace, I believe he had issues getting heat into the tyres, but I think he will do well in the race.

So who does Jesus Plaza belong to?
