Not officially, which is surprising. Everyone plus the press are simply assuming that, since he had a wonderful season, left Williams and McLaren's seats are sold out, he'll drive for Mercedes. How's this: only after Renault confirms it's staying in F1, will Rosberg be signed up by Merc.

Maybe it's only a matter of time that this will be confirmed.

Everyone is saying Vettel to Mercedes in 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were keeping tabs on Hulkenberg for 2011 or 2012.

I wouldn't be surprised if they 'did a Rosberg' with the other Nico too, let him develop at Williams until his contract runs out and then sign him, thus eliminating the risk of a rookie driver in a works team.

The second seat belongs to Ralf Schumacher! He's already a Mercedes driver! All he needs is Norbert's blessing to make it official!

Wow, calm down. Why do you hate him? Has he harmed you in any way, or done anything to even suggest that he's an idiot? He won 4 races, showed that he was able to mature from quick but error-prone to legitamite front-runner, and didn't hang around for too long like Fisichella, Trulli and Coulthard, about his equals in terms of talent. No real reason to hate him.

I get the feeling if he was named Ralf Smith, you'd have a completely different view of him.

Of curse he was a fast driver, but he had some very nasty acts that made him enter in my blacklist (i.e. not bothering to scant Michael when he broke Senna's tally of victories and he started to cry, and taking out Alonso for no discernible reason apart of blocking the road like a moron at Monaco in 2004).

When you have a race winning history, and yet you're super super slow, with a huge paycheck, you're sort of asking for ridicule -- name be damned.

Given that it had become an embarassingly badly kept secret, it's about time that Mercedes finally got it over and done with and announced him.

Obviously its time for Nigel Mansell to announce that he is coming back.

After all he has not made a comeback for some weeks now.

And Mercedes to their eternal shame previously could not supply a car to fit Nigel's manly frame. I think this failure has rankled with Norbert for many years. So when a more portly designer in the shape of Ross Brawn became available, Norbert immediately snapped him up. Together they will build a broad beamed car with styling reminiscent of an S class, that will easily fit Nigel and propel him to his rightful place at the top of the grid. Mercedes drivers all over the world will identify with this.

Rosberg will spend the next ten weeks in Stuttgart on a diet of Weissbeer and frankfurters so that he can fit properly into the car.
"Other than the car behind and the driver who might get a bit startled with the sudden explosion in front, it really isn't a major safety issue from that point of view,"

Mercedes have not totally ruled out signed an unknown:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80319

I think this unknown used to drive for a Mercedes (Sauber) sportscar team in the early 1990's?

Though, I am afraid, you are all incorrect.

It will be a former Mercedes driver, but not a member of their Le Mans programme.
