BLN's 1986 Management Series - Notice to all involved (Pg 6)

Post by Ataxia »

As Flaschenpost's series looks to have gone the way of the sabre-tooth tiger, here's a(nother) management series. This will all be simulated on GP2.

Here is the list of teams that can be selected, I'll post budgets tomorrow so you can start to 'declare interest' in drivers and engines when we've filled the slots.

Upgrade System:

You can focus on two aspects, speed or reliability.

You can purchase an upgrade straight off the bat, with small (£100,000), medium (£225,000) or large upgrades (£350,000) possible. However, as these are untested means then there's a percentage of them not working out (20%, 25% and 30% respectively for each size). So these are definitely a risk but are cheaper than the other way.

If you have a bit more money to spend, then you can attend a test day (there will be 4 throughout the season) which will cost you £500,000. Again, you choose prior to the test which ONE aspect you'd like to focus on, and if the test is successful it will provide you with the same performance increase a large upgrade would. Again, there's a percentage of it not working out (15%) but it's much smaller than just buying an upgrade.

I'll state well in advance when there is a test day and each team that attends must state the aspect they will work on.

If you're attending a test day, you can't purchase an upgrade during the gap between races that the test day is situated. If you are not attending or there is no test day, the maximum you may buy is expressed in the following combinations:

- Two small upgrades
- One medium and one small upgrade
- One large upgrade

Osella are interested in Roberto Moreno, Emanuele Pirro and Piercarlo Ghinzani and would like to ask how much they will cost us. And Osella would like to keep the Alfa Romeo engines. (Are the engine costs for the full team or per car?)

AGS are interested in signing some of these drivers: Ivan Capelli, Michele Alboreto, Derek Warwick, Stefan Johanson and Alessandro Nannini. Also - are these engine prices per car or per team? And if we run 1 car - will we save some money?

Tyrrell are interested in: Ayrton Senna, Elio de Angelis, Teo Fabi, Riccardo Patrese, Martin Brundle, Christian Danner, Alex Caffi, Johnathon Palmer.
(Basically I am asking for prices)

A rather sensitive question here but, what of de Angelis, will he be available for the whole season?

Depending on driver costs, and if engines are per car. Tyrrell are currently in negotiations with BMW, Honda and Renault.

Engine costs are per team. Ideally, I'd like encourage two-car teams.

Capelli and Nannini would be interested, they'd cost £500k each. Johansson would cost £750k but could be tempted elsewhere. Alboreto and Warwick aren't interested in AGS currently, but for reference would cost £2M and £1.5M respectively.

De Cesaris would bring any team £1M, but Marlboro would prefer him further up the grid for greater exposure.

I wasn't going to include de Angelis (for obvious reasons), but here are prices for the others:

Senna - £4M
Fabi - £750k
Patrese - £2M
Brundle - £1.5M
Danner - £500k
Caffi - £600k
Palmer - £750k

This should leave me with 2.25 Million.

Do we need test drivers?

Ghinzani has £250k of sponsorship to bring prospective teams.

Boutsen would cost £1.5M but he's holding out for a seat more in the midfield.

Prices for the others have already been suggested :)

BlindCaveSalamander wrote:McLaren will have TAG engines. As for drivers, we are interested in: Alain Prost, Elio de Angelis, Gerhard Berger, Stefan Johansson, Jacques Laffite, and Martin Brundle.

Prost - £5M
Berger - £3M
Johansson - £750K
Laffite - £900K (he's getting on a bit though...)
Brundle - £1.5M

Confirmed. :)

Boutsen's more tempted by the Arrows offer, as he feels he'll have a greater chance of honours there. However, he wonders if Lola would consider a tiny increase in their offer.
