I've been wasting my time with Forza: Horizon, which isn't that bad actually. Think of Need for Speed Pro Street, Underground 2, and Forza having sloppy sloppy sex.

I've been playing a fair bit of Forza Horizon lately, and it surprised me how enjoyable it is to play... especially once you forget about the low number of cars compared to Forza 4 and the overpriced DLC. One particular note of interest to Rejects fans is one of the main rivals you race against in the "orange wristband" events, someone by the name of Zaki Malik, who is a prince (though which country he's a Prince in is not specified)... sounds rather like a certain someone who bought a share of Arrows in 1999.

Judging from the music posted in the JV Music thread, I have a feeling that a few members' would like the music on the in-game "Horizon Rocks" station (it includes bands such as the Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys and Lostprophets). The DJ is rather annoying though thankfully they can be turned off in the options in the pause menu.

Was I the only one who thought Ali Howard's looks, dress, mannerisms, and "it don't matter how you finish, its where you finish" attitude were based off of a soon to be ex-Macca driver?

Currently I'm playing FIFA 13 online on PS3, and by god; I'm pretty rejectful! Sure, I got promoted to league 9, but I still get my arse kicked at almost every match.

I bought a game today from CEX called GT Legends for the PC. Just about to try it out now, so expect an edit in a little while ranting at the pathetic performance of my 4 year old laptop!

But I think the worst part was the really really awful, arcadey physics and the very limited choice of cars and tracks. Any idea what it could be? Really wish I could remember its name...

If you have Windows 7, do not install it, as the Starforce copy protection that it uses is incompatible and when the computer is restarted to complete the install process, it may have trouble booting back up properly. There we go! GT Racers. Absolutely terrible game. Worst fiver I've spent in my entire life.

That's why I always avoided the bargin bin at Wal-Mart whever I was looking for a new PC game to buy. I would just go for the more expensive games, because they were usually the overall better ones anyways. As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". Although I have found some good gems from time to time while browsing through. One of which was this game called "Defcon". Only paid $5 brand new in box, an awesome game to play.

Aha that is interesting! Good job I'm still on Vista then! It wouldn't work after I first installed it, but the Starforce patch has cleared things up nicely. I must say it's a great game, and for only £2.50 I'm pretty happy that I bought it! I like the fact real tracks are used, and the shorter versions are available too, and the variety of cars in it is good too. Definitely one of the better racing games I've bought that my laptop can actually handle!

On an unrelated note, I've been putting a lot of practice into Grand Prix Legends recently, specifically the Nurburgring, and I'm pleased to report that progress is good and providing the game doesn't crash on me, I can complete an outlap and a flying lap most of the time. At some point I do intend to record a flying lap, and once its on Youtube post it here for you all to laugh at my rubbish driving!

Yeah... never a good sign when the game costs $5...

I bought TRS2009 for £5 for my brother (he's a train person), and tbh it looked quite well made and detailed. I don't know anything about the genre so I can't comment on whether it's actually any good or not, but from a superficial point of view it looked fine rather than bargain basement garbage.

I also paid £9.99 for my copy of Test Drive Unlimited which was a pretty good game, the same for Burnout Paradise (not the best game in the world but worth the pricetag at least), and PGR4 for a fiver. I think the key is to buy games from well known developers rather than look at the price...

Provided you know what to look for, you can get some great games for less than an online pass for an EAvil game. For example, I managed to get Richard Burns Rally, which is still the most realistic rally sim out there for around $8 (just a bit over 5 pounds), and that included delivery from the UK. A while back I bought Grand Prix 4 for $4 at the most unlikely of places, a SuperCheap Auto store... I never knew they sold PC games!

Oh, and I also bought GT Legends recently, forgetting about the Windows 7 issue until I'd already ordered it. Just waiting to get the download key in my emails soon.

I can remember I bought Evolution GT in Game for about £8 a few years back. They'd got Gabriele Tarquini to sit and take you through the introduction on screen...but his voice was dubbed over by some Peter Drury-soundalike.

Disappointing. Didn't necessarily enjoy the game that much either...

Meanwhile, I've picked up Earthbound again - arguably one of the greatest RPGs of all time, simply due to all the random crap that happens in the game. I'm not even a third of the way through the game, and so far I've:
-Been given a quest to save the world by a talking bee from 10 years in the future
-Been attacked by mushrooms which release spores which grow another mushroom on my head
-Sold said mushroom for $50
-Encountered a giant pencil-shaped statue which blocked my path, and required me to fund a budding inventor to invent something that erased it
-Been attacked by a tree which promptly burst into flames when I defeated it
-Been attacked by UFOs and Spinning Robos which fired beams that made me catch a cold
-Been attacked by insane cultists who wanted to paint me blue
-Received $10,000 from a really shady guy for rescuing a girl who he didn't really know
-Used said money to buy a band out of a contract
-Hitched a ride with said band to the next town (the town was previously unaccessible due to ghosts)
-Been ambushed and captured by zombies
-Was rescued by a guy from way off to the north who used a combination of his best friend, a pack of bubble gum, a monkey, and a mythical lake monster to reach his dad (who he hadn't seen for 10 years) and take his flying saucer, only to crash it through the room of the prison
-Fought a tent
-Trapped the zombies from before inside another tent by using zombie paper, which works like fly paper, except for zombies (this was invented by the same budding inventor from before)
-Fought an aristocratic pile of vomit
-Encountered a town consisting entirely of these
-Discovered a factory using those as slave labour
-Fought a huge pile of vomit which I could only defeat by distracting him with fly honey (like regular honey, only from flies)

If any of that sounds even vaguely interesting to you, and you have a SNES (or an emulator), then get this game - you will not regret it. I haven't even gotten to the really insane bits yet.

I remember this. I was just downright angry that they had dubbed over Gabriele. It felt so incredibly weird to see him mouthing and an English accent playing.
The AI in that game weren't exactly smart either. It wasn't the worst racing game for sure, but it wasn't brilliant either.

A few other good bargans I have gotten over the years. Once I was at a Circuit City going bankrupt sale, and I was able to pick up a few good Xbox games. This was around 2005ish, and I was able to get Splinter Cell, Manhunt, Mafia, and XIII brand new in the box, for only 10 bucks each. Also at a Best Buy around the same time, I was also able to get Phantasy Star Episodes I and II, and Second Sight both for the same price. All of them great games.

One reject non-racing game I own is Talvisota:Icy Hell. It originated as a mod for Blitzkrieg (which in my opinion is a darn good game), but eventually evolved into a full retail game. I bough it from a clearance sale some two years ago, and here's why I think it should've remained as a free mod instead of having to pay €14.95 for it:

• Released in 2008, but runs on Blitzkrieg's game engine which was released in 2003, and it shows.
• Almost all of the textures are simply recolored versions of the original Blitzkrieg ones. That'd be okay if they were of the same models that were used in the original game, but most Finnish/Soviet equipment differs from it.
• Apparently they hired Russians to do the voice acting for both sides, as the Finns have a strong Slavic accent in their speak.
• Despite receiving praise for its historical accuracy, I still found quite a few inaccuracies even after installing the patch which should've fixed them.
• The game is extremely hard. I tried to play on easy on both sides and couldn't even get past the first two missions. Additionally, some the missions are too long and should be split.

Actually, this game was originally the Russians' idea. And besides mods to some games (like BF 1942), there really aren't any games concerning this war, or Finland's part in WWII in general which are made well.

But I do agree that a lot of stuff is sold here under the umbrella of our wartime heroics - not just the Winter War but Continuation War and even the Lapland War as well. And even now you can hear the phrase "talvisodan henki" - "the spirit of Winter War" - being used whenever something brave has to be done.

Nintendo 64 things came today (except the console...should be on its way.), which was all preceded by an email from the seller of Mario Kart on Ebay. He mentioned that he found his Mario Kart game cartridge, and that he'd therefore forgotten to put it in the box. As he'd already sent the box, he sent Mario Kart 1st class this morning (should be here soon.)

I picked up the box today, and found a Super Mario 64 cartridge inside. Now, I could have been a scumbag and not mentioned it but that would have weighed on my conscience. I contacted the guy, and he said "Sorry for the mix-up, Mario Kart has been sent to you. You can keep Super Mario".

To cut a short story short, a free game. I just love some people.

From what I've heard, Race 07 is far better than Race Pro. I've actually got Race Pro for Xbox 360 and it was average - especially the AI who drove like they were on XTC or something...
