GPM2 May The Best Manager Win, Season 2

Post by Shadaza »

Welcome back to another madness inducing season of MTBMW.

It has been just over six years since the collapse of Formula One after the completion of the 2003 season, now in 2010 the series has risen from the ashes ready to put to the test 12 managers in a single year special edition.

First the rules:

1.Teams will enter 2 drivers per race in a 16 race season.
2.Teams will chose 1 of 16 engines and will use that engine for the duration of the season.
3.Teams will be given a budget of $50 Million.

Those are the only rules, all driver aids and technical parts are legal and whilst technically stealing is illegal, you are very welcome to try :D.

Here are a few of the things you can do in this championship -

Control Research and Development
Control Race Strategies
Fight over Sponsorship
Hire and Fire Staff
Control Budgets
Steal from Rivals!

Does it matter that the two or three times I've tried to play GPM2, it went way over my head and I utterly failed at everything? Because if not, Mercedes.

Yes and no. You don't need to play the game for one and I shall try and make things as simple as possible and bring important parts of the game in gradually so you have a better chance to understand it but on the other hand, having experience with GPM2 would probably be helpful, not matter how fair and simple I try to make things. Welcome to the game.

Williams shall be taken by me,with Mr Gerald Pereria as team manager.
My friend's USB drive spoiled, spilled tea on her laptop and had a bird poo in her hand.

What did she do in her past life to deserve this?

I will run HRT ... under it's original guise of Campos.
However, should I prove to block a space for a GPM2-interested user who has no involvement in the GPM2 Chairman game later down the road, I will withdraw if that would be okay.

After taking a majority stake in the team, Lotus will be renamed Rapax. The GP2 squad will serve as a feeder team.

That is quite noble. I have had at least 3 people asking me about a spot on the Chairman game. Though I am not sure how many of the are active!

Well, I'd have loved to take HRT and I'm not in the chairman game but I'll take USF1 and re-name it to Force1USA (please someone get the joke!)

Going for another "Arrows" domination? Massa's victory in Hungary is still one of my best memories on F1rejects.
Only on F1Rejects would HRT and USF1 be cherry picked before McLaren or Ferrari.

Hmm, I will have you down as a provisional entry for now. But I can't make any promises as I do need to have a team reserved. Sorry about that.
---------------------------------------

For all managers I offer the first choice, Engines! Customer engines can be rebadged and have no limit on the number of teams. Works engines are limited to one team.

Engines:

1.Renault-RS27
Renault engines are of the highest quality, provinding a fantastic all round engine, though rumours are they do not offer quite much horsepower as their rivals.
-2. The customer Renault engine (can be rebaged) is slightly down on build quality of the factory cousin, though it is rumored to be slightly more powerful in return.

3.Ferrari-056
Ferrari have pulled out all the stop with their new engine, light weight, powerful, reliable the engine has no real weaknesses.
-4. The customer Ferrari engine is identical in specification to the works version, however they may be slightly down on reliability.

5.Cosworth CA2010
Cosworth may not have the development budget of the big three engine manufactures but they offer a reliable engine on their return to F1 that other companies would be jealous of.
-6.The customer engine is not quite to the same standard as the works, but it can be rebadged and is still very capable.
-7.Cosworth CA2006
Cosworth also offer a revised version of their old engines from the 2006 F1 season, it would be a large gamble to go for it but they are an option for the daring.

8.Mercedes-108x
Mercedes are one of the big players in modern Formula 1 and they bring an engine that proves it. Fast and reliable with a good base weight, a great choice for any team.
-9. The customer version is equally good, though the build quality may be a little bit down, can be rebaged!

10.Aston Martin-AM001
A surprise new entrant to F1 bringing a brutish engine that does not lack in power, it is slightly on the heavy side and is not quite as refined as the other engines. Don't let that undermine that this is a serious effort.

11.Toyota-RVX07
Though Toyota may have pulled out of F1 as a team, they still offer engines to the right buyer. This is a proven engine though it may not be the most powerful out there.
-12.Toyota even offer a customer version that can be rebadged, with the same pitfalls as most customer engines.

13.BMW-P89
BMW, like Toyota, have also recently pulled out of F1, they still have F1 grade engines that can be used to keep the BMW name alive in F1 and the engines are powerful, though reliability may be an issue.

14.Honda-RA808E
Ross Brawn still has some Honda engines tucked away somewhere that could be found for the right bidder. The engine is missing two years of development, though it is a proven engine.

15.Proton-PT1
Malaysian Group Proton have launched their own "revolutionary" engine promising the lightest weight engine in F1. Rumors are already buzzing that it is light at the cost of power and reliability!

16.Volkswagen-001
Car firm Volkswagen have thrown their hat in to the fray. Their engine may not have the development time of the big teams but they have brought a solid well rounded engine to the party.

:D Thank you for your generosity!

The team will indeed be known as Minardi, and vow to fight on!

Minardi would like to sign a deal to run customer Ferrari engines, with the naming rights open to a sponsor who is willing to pay for the engine deal.

Rubens Barrichello is indeed rumored to be in talks with Minardi about a possible race seat, although this is a rumour, since the driver market is undefined at this stage.

Force1USA would like the CosworthCA2010 engine. Reliability over others may sneak a few good results during the year.

As another question, is there the possibility of DNQ's during the year? Or will every car start no matter how shite they are?

Cars can DNQ if they fall outside of 107% up to a maximum of 3 cars not being allowed to race. Considering all parts and driver aids are legal this could result in field spread getting very large, very quickly.

On the bright side, this also means that it is not so much a disadvantage going for a smaller team as everyone starts with the same budget and there is plenty of opportunity for development, especially when there is no concern about getting a 2011 car built. With the right driver aids even a small team could run at the front.

You can use Ferrari.
drivers will be dealt with later once engines have been assigned. For veterans of MTBMW season 1, the system used will be the same as that one.

As for the "fan car", that isn't actually in the game but there are 9 available driver aids that I will get too later.

Klon, would it be ok if Campos were left to AI control but I will still let you chose the drivers? That way you get to still be involved but at a lesser extent.
