Autosport wrote:Jones calls for Melrose's retirement after another DNQ
Sammy Jones has tonight called on Daniel Melrose, the Australian owner of the MRT team, and who is currently driving for the Holden factory team, to retire immediately from driving in the F1RWRS.
"Frankly, it's an embarrassment" commented Jones, who himself has qualified 8th for tomorrow's Canadian GP, "Daniel was a good driver, that much is clear, but as time goes on, his performances are getting worse and worse. Phoenix McAllister got the hint last year and packed it in, and I think that after this latest DNQ, where Zimmer has put the car 5 places in front and half a second quicker than a multiple F1 world champion, Melrose needs to take a look in the mirror and re-assess his options. Maybe if he'd been a bit less of an arrogant mug and was still driving for Castrol Jones Racing, he'd still have a few years left in him. What's clear is that in an average car, he just hasn't got it any more."
The comments from Jones follow Melrose's dismal qualifying performance, where despite clearing pre-qualifying on Friday, he could do no better than the 28th and slowest time of the entire field. It's not the first time he's DNQ'd this year either, having failed to galvanize the new Simpson Motorsports team which have remained mired in pre-qualifying since Melrose left after only a handful of races, instead moving to HRT where little else has changed. Many speculate that Melrose, who is growing increasingly worried that his front-running MRT team are going to throw away yet another championship in the face of the supreme Mark Dagnall at DGN, has lost his focus trying to balance both team management and driving for a rival team. It is for this reason why many within the paddock believe that MRT have failed to live up to their promise over the past couple of seasons, and look set to do the same in 2015 too.

Only a few hours after Sammy Jones advised the Australian driver to retire, Kay Lon has responded in an interview to the criticism of his former employer. He feels the critique is too harsh. "Well, [Daniel Melrose had a bad start to the season and the HRT is not that great of a car to begin with, it is understandable that he is struggling at the moment," Lon explained.
While he admitted that he did not expect the Kanada-King to not qualify for this race, he does not think Melrose's career is over yet. "As long as he wants to drive in F1RWRS he is capable of doing so," the self-proclaimed best driver in the world told the media. Lon refused to comment on Jones' reason for his attack on Melrose, claiming that it is "not [his] business to speculate about Sammy's motives."

In a vicious and cowardly act, the Venezuelan marine has attacked a Tropican fishing boat a few kilometers before the Venezuelan coast without reason or provocation, sinking the fishing boat "Razón". The fate of its crew is still unknown. "This is unacceptable," Anita Morales, leader of the militaristic faction and husband of our greatest soldier Federico Cara, stated, "for every life taken in this attack, we must take ten Venezuelan lives!" Aerond, I need some clarification vis-a-vis the private testing regulations;
How would this apply to Sebastien Groves? He does not currently have a race seat as of the Canadian Grand Prix, however he has been in a race seat previously this year.
Speaking of which, Scuderia Alitalia is looking for pay-drivers currently without a race seat for an upcoming test before the British GP!
6.2.6 Each pay driver that does not already have a race drive in the F1RWRS will pay a team 1 credit to participate in a private test.

My best guess is that Groves would pay one credit to participate in a test as he currently doesn't have an active contract. Which would probably make the rule easier to understand if that was the clause used.

Pay drivers with no race seat, with a valid license;
Du Lei
Alexey Buyvolov
Gia van Dycke
Renaldo Jimenez can obtain a license as well by running in two private tests.

Prospec are happy to allow Du Lei to take part in testing with another team should her management (ie Kay Lon) make such a request.
Also, did the Prospecs really take each other out in Canada? Those two are going to get their heads banged together, it's no good qualifying for the race and staying out of pre-qualifying if they're just going to use each other as battering rams. At least we'd get money for being in pre-qualifying.

Kay Lon's Best In The World brand has been under fire again, this time for a different issue. It has been alleged that BITW secretly funded Tropico Grand Prix, which may explain how they were able to obtain the costly Gillet-Judd engine this year after a farcical 2014. Moreover, it was alleged that the income from the controversial The Kamaha Years video were partially used to fund Tropico GP as well as Lon's F3RWRS team. BITW and Tropico GP declined to comment.

Well, that's part of the story, alright.

A short summary of Kay Lon's sunday:
* At the start he has contact with Fredo which causes a snowball effect, taking out both of them, Andrea Battani, Mark Dagnall, Thomas De Bock and Phillipe Nicolas.
* After throughtoutly analysing the DGN car (and thankfully writing that "knowledge" down), Lon decided to get drunk with Melrose who was however busy trying to run his team.
* Therefore he started getting wasted all by himself.
* Whilst the podium ceremony was going on, the cameras caught a confrontation between Douglas Mann and Rosco Vantini. Lon interfered and puked all over Vantini's shoes.
* For that he recieved a swift kick in the balls; after recovering from that, he and Melrose left the circuit to head to the next best pub and weren't seen until next late afternoon.
All of this resulting in a giant hangover for Lon and a suspended race ban.

Seeing as I've got a whole load of drivers in the junior championships, Danny van Rijkens is a PAY DRIVER and would consider a drive if an offer is made. For those interested his sponsors are all South African, and are:

Note to all teams, because of driver limits placed on tests. In that we can have 8 drivers, but once we get 4 teams, then the number of drivers a team can use will be restricted .
As this is a private test that I created, I am restricting the other teams that can test with me to Kingfisher and Mecha. After Jones racing pulled out, good riddance.

Apologies for the double post.
Autosport wrote:Van Rijkens signs for Tropico
Tropico team sources have confirmed to Autosport tonight that South African driver Danny van Rijkens has signed a preliminary contract with the team which will see him make his debut in the F1RWRS at the next race in Britain. Van Rijkens will become Africa's first ever F1RWRS driver, having just recently clinched his first victory in the RoLFS feeder series, thus making him eligible for a Reject Licence.
Tropico started the season brightly having been widely panned as the worst team on the grid in 2014. They started their first ever race and made the grid on a number of occasions early on, but since Nathan Scott's 16th place finish at the Mediterranean GP, Tropico have failed to make the grid and now find themselves once again stuck in prequalifying. In a radical move, both of the team's current drivers, Scott and Darren Older Jr, have been fired and will be replaced by pay drivers, the first of which to be announced is van Rijkens. The sources at Tropico weren't able to confirm the second driver however, though it is rumoured the team will look to sign Alexey Buyvolov who has impressed for Dofasco in the F2RWRS this season.

We wholehearted welcome the Mecha team if they can afford the entry fee of course.
The test will feature myself, Steele, Plaza, our F3 drivers Deasi, Sampson and new signing Anita Horford as well as rising F3 talent from West Cliff Jordan Davies. As a bonus we will be letting Simon Redman dust off the cobwebs and show these youngsters what it is to be an F1 driver. We would have liked to have tested Nathan McKane but the test clashes with his driving commitments.

Fmecha : As the rules are currently, it will cost you 40 credits to test outside of Asia (it will cost 20 credits in Asia, unless you can find an Indonesian track that GP2 has a track for then it will cost you 10...). However I did suggest that teams should be able to run tests on a track they have just raced for 10 credits as the team would be in the country and would have at least three cars at the track, this would benefit teams who have dual nationality or teams who are in countries that do not have a track in GP2. So I suggest you bug Aerond about this.
AdrianSutil You can have another 4 drivers testing if you so wish, if you can find 4 more pay drivers then the cost of the test will be 5 credits...

That is true. However he isn't 18 as of yet and violates your "No license without wiki entry"-rule as well.
Aerond wrote:Oh, and if you finally fire Nathan Scott, you'll have fired one of my drivers. I'll make your life hell
Like you don't already do so.

Seriously though, I will probably not fire Scott yet. Since I want to retain a theoretical shot at making it to the grid, I need a proper pay driver as replacement. I cannot use Du Lei because of the five driver limit and neither van Dycke nor Buyvolov seem that appealing.
