Not if Simpson Motorsports beats you to hiring him...![]()
(I think he was a second driver added to FAT Turbo Racing by Aerond as there was not a second driver in that team at the start of 2013).

Well if they were racing for a decent team then I am sure they would have done much better. As a note using both the current point system and the current F1 point system, David Koczo would have been world champion...

Which is why I prefer the 2011-12 point system. Zimmer would have won then

Ben Fleet
Team: Alitalia, Foxdale
Championship Position: =19 - 1 points
Best finish: 6th once
Wait, Ben Fleet scored a point? When did that happen? Oh, he was driving for Foxdale? It has been a very vanilla season for Fleet, so let's discuss where Ben gets all his money from? Cigarettes? Oil? Criminal activity? RejectSport would like to call on Ben Fleet to disclose how he can pay his way into any seat on the grid, from DGNgineering to Alitalia!
Character Comparison: Sergio Perez, a very fast pay-driver
Weakness: Auditing firms
Grade: B+
Jari Kekkonen
Team: Boxtel
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 8th once
Kekkonen's season has been a mixed bag. At times he is able to come close to Battani's pace but he is not immune to useless DNQs at some races. He has been slightly better than Spencer but Boxtel might be better off signing a pay-driver to collect funds at this point. The team's management has committed to a full season for Kekkonen, barring any injuries, and they appear to be sticking with their decision. Kekkonen still needs to perform better to deserve another shot for 2016, though.
Character Comparison: Heikki Kovalainen
Weakness: Alitalia
Grade: C+
Daniel Martins
Team: Sunshine
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 8th twice
Inconsistency has always been the key to Daniel Martins' career but this year has brought a surprising end to that trend. Martins' up-and-down season last year got him fired from ArrowTech but the Katayama brouhaha (really rolls of the tongue, doesn't it) led to an unexpected resuscitation of his career. Unfortunately, the comeback tour hasn't gone over well as his teammate James Davies is proving to be a superior driver. Martins has not been too shabby but sustained mediocrity won't go down well with the unstable management at Sunshine. Martins needs more points and fewer DNQs (but doesn't everybody?).
Character Comparison: Vitantonio Liuzzi
Weakness: The Bee Gees
Grade: C-
David Koczo
Team: Alitalia
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th twice
So far, his season has been dominated by the "Early Retirement-gate" and "Oh-shite, I better get back in the car before Alasdair Lindsay sues me-gate" (ERG and OSIBGITCBALSMG, respectively). But in terms of performance, the morality of Koczo's decision and its effect on the wider world is a moot point. Koczo has been limited by the poor Alitalia chassis but he is escaping pre-qualifying on a regular basis. He has carried the Alitalia team to relevance, which makes the fiasco over his retirement all the more strange.
Character Comparison: I don't know anyone who tried to retire but got fired before he could finish out the season in any sport. Assistance?
Weakness: Old age
Grade: A-
Kay Lon
Team: Prospec
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th once
In a sense, Kay Lon is doing a very honorable thing by staying at Prospec. In the true reject spirit, he is plugging away at a backmarker team at the expense of his own ego after his promising career took a nosedive. He may not be the "Best in the World" but he is certainly "King of Rejectdom" for now. When he inevitably gets tired of it all and lobbies his way back into a top seat, we will all forget about his services but his noble actions are not forgotten! However, it should be noted that Fredo Mestolio has two points and hasn't DNQ's yet this year. Lon is still at zero.
Character Comparison: Late-career Eddie Irvine?
Weakness: Du Lei
Grade: C
Ashley Watkinson
Team: Kingfisher
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 10th once
I swear, if we had a "Hang up the Keys" award for the F1RWRS, we would have to put at least eight drivers on it. In order: Melrose, Spencer, Ashley Watkinson, Frank Zimmer, Douglas Mann, Shizuka, Darren Older Jr. (well, he already got fired) and Dave Simpson. There's not much to say about Watkinson. He hasn't been good since 2013 and the car he's driving is capable of a lot more, as proven by Neuberg.
Character Comparison: Kwame Brown
Weakness: Neuberg
Grade: C-
Hagane Shizuka
Team: Revolution
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 11th once
That Revolution car is awful and I have a sneaking suspicion that Shinobu Katayama isn't going to be able to get them out of the hole in pre-qualifying. Shizuka had one chance to get the team out at Bathurst and he failed. At least he has been outperforming his teammates throughout the year.
Character Comparison: Aguri Suzuki
Weakness: Revolution DMS
Grade: D+
Steven Mackintosh
Team: Mecha
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: 9th once
Mecha GP is still crap. What else can Mackintosh do? He did manage to get the car on the grid in Monaco (a McCarthy-esque miracle) and he finished ahead of Douglas Mann in the Foxdale, which is an accomplishment. Maybe the guy has some talent after all...
Character Comparison: Eric van de Poele
Weakness: Mackintosh apples, for all the bad puns at his expense.
Grade: B
Jean-Luc Schiller
Team: Mecha
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: RET twice
Well, we've got to have money.
He's pretty good at bringing in loads of cash into Mecha. He also avoided DNQing in his two starts. Meh.
Character Comparison: Jean-Denis Deletraz
Weakness: Being a pay driver
Grade: C
Mitchell Macklin
Team: Simpson
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: DNPQ... 8 times!
I really expected more from this kid. I thought he was going to skewer Melrose and take that Simpson car to some crazy result, like tenth. Out of all the F2RWRS drivers, he has been the worst this season, which is quite ironic.
Character Comparison: I don't know.
Weakness: Lots of stuff.
Grade: D
All of the Autodynamics drivers
Team: Autodynamics
Championship Position: =23 - 0 points
Best finish: Ret - once!
Autodynamics = The Island of Misfit Toys. We have:
Damon "See my reject license, it's so shiny" Cannon
Dean "Everyone's Mean to me" O'Lauchlan
Sebastian "Now where do I go?" Groves and
Miko "I'm sick 'o this team" Fakkinen
All of them got fired from other teams but got drives at Autodynamics.
Character Comparison: Already made it.
Weakness: Driving fast
Grade: D
Oh, and Dofasco should just give up and sign Saeed Al Faisal or Older Jr. at this point. They need cash fast.

The electronics failed, not the driver, as far as I remember. Almost regularly scores points in pre-qualifying, basically he is one-handedly keeping the team up in third. That's still better than the zero last year. And Aguri Suzuki? I'd doubt thatD- instead.

Did this mean that no three teams have all their drivers set a time? As I think we would have prefered to see a bunch of no time set as it could have meant a surprise or two in qualifying...
