Roll Up Roll Up! New Rejectful Series Ahoy!

Post by CasinoSquare »

For those weeping at the loss of A1GP and relying on Speedcar or Superleague for your slightly poor, reject filled budget version of F1,cop a look at this beauty, http://www.AutoGP.org/english.php; oh the potential.

1. A1GP's old Lola cars
2. Run by COLONI Motorsport (yes!!!!)
3. Khalil Beschir from A1GP Team Lebanon (who in the one event i saw him in hit three cars on the first lap
4. Jaroslav Janis, a close friend of Stefan GP, threatening to run a team

Its like Pre Qualifying circa 1990! Ruined slightly by the presence of Jan Charouz who is a half decent Le Mans racer but nevertheless...

Anyone got Nissany's cellphone number? Perhaps we can get Gachot out of retirement, Enzo still owes him some $$$s
EuroBrun at HWNSNBM's home GrandPrix - perhaps his boyhood inspiration?

I think that this may just be a renamed Euro F3000 series. I know that the old A1GP Lolas were used by them during 2009, and I am pretty sure that I read that there were plans to rename the series to Auto GP. Euro F3000 is also the series that Felipe Massa graduated from before joining Sauber.

Yeah, it is - the testing dates referred to on the 18th of november abd the partypoker.it sponsorship match up. Plus of course they were running those cars last year.

I coined the term "Lewisteria". The irony is that I actually quite like Lewis Hamilton.

Off Topic:
Poker sponsorship? sound sooooo italian and rejectful to me.

here we've got the poker-mania now. we're full of ads, sponsorships and other crap about poker... i'm really sick of it.

but guess why the goverment gets a fee on this crap so it's alright to see a 50% of commercials based on poker.

i wanna go away from italy.

now, In Topic: this sound so rejectful to me. and in fact they're pushing on the money prize thing... but, who cares about that? (apart from who wins of course :D)

Ah well, I was in Florence when last year's Singapore GP was on and went into an ice cream parlour just as it had finished.
The fact that I managed to have a conversation in pidgin Italian about what had happened in the race and expressed my love for Ferrari and dislike for Lewis must surely grant me a job somewhere?!

Sorry to bring back a zombie, but there are some news about this series that warrant renewed discussion!

First, yesterday's news (literally) was that there will be a team by the name of emiliodevillota.com managed by Emilio himself and "helped in the management by his son Emilio Jr. (who is also the Technical Director of the team) and his daughter Isabel", who (let's hope) may also be their driver.

Then, today it was announced, that team Euronova racing will also take part in the championship. Which is noteworthy, beacause this team is managed by none other than Vincenzo Sospiri!

Also, as is mentionied in the first post of this thread, the series uses A1GP's old Lola cars, in run by Coloni Motorsport and sponsored by an online poker company.
This really seems to hold a lot of reject-promise!

Now also with Charouz - keeps getting better! (Although they sadly seem to cooperate with Gravity Racing, which is less rejectworty...)

Hey, take this series seriously, they have a Facebook page (which I am a fan of). F1 doesn't have an offical Facebook page. So clearly AutoGP is better than F1.

From articles in Autosport and technical specs on the cars themselves, far from being rejectworthy, this looks like it's shaping up to a solid race series. Coloni himself described the cars themselves as being 'Mansell cars', which I think equated to tons of power and being a proper driver's car. Actually looking forward to this.

Something tells me that having a Facebook page ain't quite the way to assess a series' success, shinj...

That's what the Establishment wants you to think. They bang on about 'business plans' and 'interest'... what a series (and a business in general) really needs is a Facebook page.

I'm a bit confused, is this the renaming of Euro 3000? or is it another series?

Yes it is, using modified A1 GP Lolas. From what I can tell, the only reason people are considering Auto GP to be a reject series is because they are using recycled chassis and replacing a series that few people have ever heard of, despite Massa graduading from the series. But Euro 3000 recycled the old F3000 chassis, hence the name of the series, even if it were Italy-centric rather than truly Euro...

It involves Enzo Coloni therefore it is, by definition, rejectful. Notwithstanding his successes elsewhere, he was rejectful in F1.

Well - it is a bit embarrassing. Still, they made the right move by quickly finding an alternative venue. A good one, I might add.
