Re: F2RWRS - The feeder category of the F1RWRS
Since it doesn't look like Japan will be done for a while yet, Lappy has informed me a few days ago that Ryan Zimmer will be driving the second GRM car for the next few races, to allow Melville to focus on the F3RWRS championship. Aeroracing and Hydook will also have to inform me and/or Lappy whether Raul Souto Maior and Branko Ristic will either be at Surfers Paradise for the SuperPrix or at Road America for the F2RWRS race, as this is the only clash on the calender for the entire season.
Finally, I have decided to allow teams to use their 2015 engine suppliers for the two non-championship races, working on the act of precedent set at last season's Luxembourg Invitational.

Well, well, well... I'd rather see Souto Maior drive in F3RWRS if there are calendar clashes. And by the way, I'd like to state here and now my intention to run Lancia engines for next season (as well as the non-championship rounds) if an upgrade system is not introduced for next season. For that matter, not only will Bizzarri will occupy the second Aeroracing F2RWRS seat for the NC rounds (and next season too if Stramala wishes), but also offer Souto Maior's vacant seat to any driver of his choice.

This doesn't make any sense.
Marcel Agyemang-Badu is signed for next season. You're also offering Marco Bizzarri a drive. And then you're offering a seat to anyone that wants it? Huh? How can three go into two?

This driver situation can be summed up thusly:

It does. Souto Maior will only be absent on the next race, which clashes with F3RWRS, before retaking the seat. He'll drive for the F2RWRS team no matter what next season, and the other seat can go to Marco Bizzarri, but if you don't want him there you can nominate another driver. It's that logical.

I'm confused, because the wiki has Miccoli in that seat, and also has Agyemang-Badu at Alitalia...

I see the problem. Missed the bit that said "of his choice", I thought you were opening it up to anyone and everyone, this is what confused me

The other driver? I don't think he has a seat anywhere at the moment in F2RWRS, so Salvatore Miccoli would do well alonside Agyemang-Badu. Indycar champion and currently bossing the Nations Cup. I think it's a very strong lineup.

Well I sure as hell didn't put Badu there, it must have been someone else, WHO DID SO WITHOUT ANY SUCH THING EVER BEING SAID! CONFIRMED DRIVERS ONLY PEOPLE.
So the confirmed drivers for 2016 are;
Marcel Agyemang-Badu - AERORACING ENGINEERING
Andrej Kremnicky - Scuderia Alitalia
And that's all so far...

Previously this was the case. However, this was before Agyemang-Badu's absolutely stunning dominance of the second half of the RoLFS this season, which made me change my mind. He was originally destined for F3RWRS but why should the champion make what is essentially a sideways move? Not promoting him to somewhere would be silly, but my books at Alitalia were already full so had to diversify. And now here we are.

In a strange move, Scuderia Alitalia has sent their leading driver in F2RWRS packing, with Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen, currently second in the championship, leaving the Italian outfit at the end of the season.
Instead, next year he will be racing for Belgian team RonDen Racing Engineering, alongside multiple race winner this season Wouter Lamberigts. The car has proven to be a winner in the hands of the Belgian driver, but Italian team-mate Gianluigi Pazzini has failed to replicate the same kind of form as his team-mate and only picked up a handful of points all year. Despite this, the car does seem to have good pace and at least has the potential to deliver a good season next year for van Nieuwenhuijzen.

Af finally!
All other drivers can be sure of one thing: the car starting at pole-position is a RonDen

Re: F2RWRS - The feeder category of the F1RWRS
Autosport wrote:Exclusive: Diego Álvarez Torrente
It has been an inauspicious end to Diego Álvarez Torrente's RoLFS career. This has been no fault of his own; the Zytek engine was clearly not suited to the speed-oriented circuits that came at the end of the calendar. In fact, the Spaniard has still punched above his weight; qualifying for the Nippon 200 without using a "qualifying joker" was a true indication of his natural speed. In addition, he picked up the most pole positions of any driver in that series - heading the grid four times. So why didn't it work out as much in race trim?
"When I had pole, I could stay ahead of the field for a few laps." he muses. "However, lapping cars is very difficult in RoLFS because not only are the power bands similar, but also because some of the drivers are completely crazy!" Poor driving from opponents held the key to why Torrente's championship position is deceptively low. He could have taken victory in his first heat race at Blackwood, but an errant Martin McGovern held him up so badly that he dropped to 5th. In addition, he was caught up in accidents at Fern Bay and South City rendering his championship chances obsolete.
"The season started so well! I was right up there with Nathan (McKane), and then as the circuits got faster and less technical we didn't have the advantage any more. If we'd had fewer bits of bad luck early on, we could have had more of a chance against the top guys". Torrente doesn't seem fazed though; he's excited about what 2016 has to bring. Although some might consider a move to the Dofasco Racing outfit "career suicide", the supply of Lancia engines they will be getting should help them climb the grid. Even without them, Russian hotshot Alexey Buyvolov has turned in some very good performances which has seen him move up to F1RWRS - a move that will be full-time next year.
"I'm looking forward to the new challenge" Diego says, stroking the dark stubble on his chin. "I spoke to Andrej Kremnicky recently about the Lancia engines, and he says they're very drivable indeed. The challenge of getting Dofasco onto a higher plane also...intrigued me."
He's not the only Fusion Motorsports alumnus to make it into F2RWRS next season. Austrian starlet Marko Jantscher has also made the jump with the Licor Beirao team and thus they shall be racing against each other for the first time.
"Marko's a good friend of mine, and if I may be honest he's quite worried about next season. He signed the Beirao contract when Alberto Cara was doing well, but they've been off form of late. He's hoping he can turn it around, and I'm sure he will."
Due to Jantscher's departure, Fusion fill their F3RWRS lineup with two (nearly) rookie drivers, Jules Vergne and Jiri Komárek. The former has done a handful of races for Octan in F3 and Hydook in RoLFS, and Komarek has raced in F1RSTC and also did a couple of races for ZimSport in RoLFS.
"Both Jules and Jiri are good guys. Jules is a very smart driver; he's not a driver that's got out-and-out pace but his tenacity is amazing. As for Jiri, his driving style is very similar to Marko's; very quick but keeps it on the road."
Fusion have another hope too: "Don't forget, Fusion also signed up Jerry (de Boer) and he was brilliant in F1RDS." says Torrente. "The car wasn't always amazing for him, but when it was you saw how he stormed to wins. The transition's been interesting, Jules has told Jerry what Octan's like as a team, and Jerry's been talking to Jari (Lappalainen) about what DMR is like. There's a lot of talented drivers at Fusion, and you'll see one of us in F1RWRS soon." We subtly ask if it will be him.
"Oh, I couldn't say! In all seriousness, I want to spend at least two seasons here (in F2RWRS). If my season with Dofasco works out well, I'll stay for another year. If not, hopefully I can be given a chance by a team who can win. And as a friend, I wish the same for Marko. I know he's been worrying if he can do the business at Beirao, but I'm sure he can. I'd like to beat him more often than not, though!"
Nothing like a bit of healthy rivalry between friends, is there?

No, Marco Bizzarri is NOT doing the NC rounds. Full stop, new paragraph. And if Souto Maior starts another F2RWRS race between now and Luxembourg, he'll be removed from the entry list for the NC rounds as well.
And since I didn't get to announce it earlier amongst all the other stuff, Andrea Bianchi will drive the second MRT at the two non-championship races.
EDIT: Phoenix, I was going through the thread to update the entry list for the NC rounds and it turns out you've already entered Gary Pacer in the second seat. So what all this hullabaloo about whose driving the car for the two NC races is for is beyond me

Re: F2RWRS - The feeder category of the F1RWRS
I'm visiting the forum so little as of late I'm not keeping up with some things. Can I remove Pacer and put Agyemang-Badu in the seat then?
And why can't Bizzarri do the NC rounds and Souto Maior runs the risk of suffering the same fate? Does it have to do with the number of starts they've made? Because if that's the case Pacer can run at the NC races.
Jesus, what a mess

Yes, full time F2RWRS drivers with over 10 (?) starts can't participate in the NC races. The idea is to give the youngsters some seat time. Agyemang-Badu doesn't have a single start in F2RWRS to his name even though he's full time next season so no problem there. Agyemang-Badu / Pacer would be a sensible choice.

2015 F2RWRS Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix
Pre-Qualifying
With Ryan Zimmer making his F2RWRS debut in place of Daniel Melville, pre-qualifying was suddenly made much harder for GRM than it needed to be. However, they did the absolute minimum needed to make it into race in the end, beating Dofasco to the second Pre-Q slot by just three hundredths of a second. Meanwhile, Martin van der Maeyede continued his scintillating Pre-Q form this year to drag Kingfisher kicking and screaming all the way into the race for the second weekend running, with teammate Matthias Valsattis not far behind in 4th. Laurent Seron meanwhile earned himself a caution for holding up Aeroracing's Raul Souto Maior during the latter's first hot lap, but the Brazilian later regrouped and set an eventual time that was faster than teammate Marco Bizzarri.
1. M. van der Maeyede (Kingfisher-Holden): 1:25.372
2. C. Simpson (Young Lions-Holden): +0.304
3. L. Seron (Dofasco-Audi): +0.325
4. M. Valsattis (Kingfisher-Holden): +0.358
5. R. Zimmer (Young Lions-Holden): +0.562
6. A. Buyvolov (Dofasco-Audi): +0.569
7. R. Suoto Maior (Aeroracing-Audi): +0.628
8. M. Bizzarri (Aeroracing-Audi): +0.697
9. B. Ristic (Hydook-Aston Martin): +0.834
10. E. Molinaro (Hydook-Aston Martin): +1.116
Qualifying
An intriguing session of ups and downs left many of the Aston Martin runners scrambling for answers, as the mile long front straight proved to be a Lancia benefit. Wouter Lamberigts confirmed this by eclipsing Alberto Cara to pole position by under a tenth while the two Alitalias will line up 4th and 5th, behind the impressive Gregor Pascal in the Gillet. Championship elect Tomo Kazama was stranded in the midfield in 11th while Falik Arrows slumped to one of their worst performances all year with Yuka Katayama in 17th and teammate Josh Carlisle an abysmal 20th. While the Lancias were having a field day on the result sheets, they weren't having much luck elsewhere as Andrej Kremnicky had to switch to a spare car midway though the session when his race car blew an engine, while both Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen and Wouter Lamberigts received cautions for holding up Michael Robertson and Pascal during the dying minutes of qualifying.
1. W. Lamberigts (RonDen-Lancia): 1:24.731 (1 point)
2. A. Cara (Beirao-BMW): +0.096
3. G. Pascal (Gillet-BMW): +0.339
4. A. Kremnicky (Alitalia-Lancia): +0.367
5. B. van Nieuwenhuijzen (Alitalia-Lancia): +0.384
6. M. Cameron (Simpson-BMW): +0.514
7. G. Pazzini (RonDen-Lancia): +0.638
8. J-V. Albertini (Gillet-BMW): +0.677
9. M. van der Maeyede (Kingfisher-Holden): +0.706
10. T. Nash (Aston Martin): +0.753
11. T. Kazama (Aston Martin): +0.772
12. C. Simpson (GRM-Holden): +0.797
13. T. Hawkin (Jones-Aston Martin): +0.861
14. M. Valsattis (Kingfisher-Holden): +0.871
15. J. Rueckert (Jones-Aston Martin): +0.938
16. M. Robertson (MRT-BMW): +0.950
17. Y. Katayama (Falik-BMW): +1.011
18. C. Lopes (Beirao-BMW): +1.086
19. R. Zimmer (GRM-Holden): +1.136
20. J. Carlisle (Falik-BMW): +1.199
21. A. Marchesi (MRT-BMW): +1.346
22. D. Anderson (Simpson-BMW): +1.678
As far as the championship goes, if Alitalia, Hawkin, Albertini and Lamberigts all fail to score points in the race, Kazama needs to finish 5th or higher to take the title, as there are a maximum of 24 points up for grabs in the two remaining North American rounds. The race will be held live at 8am EDST on Saturday (9pm GMT on Friday if my maths is correct) and with some luck, I might be able to livestream the race with natural sounds. Might being the operative word.

Unlikely those mentioned won't score points. But who knows, considering Alitalia's reliability....

RWRS Report wrote:Voeckler to make F2RWRS debut at Road America
Ex-Alitalia junior driver Benoît Voeckler will make his series debut in F2RWRS in the next event at Road America, replacing Raul Souto Maior at AeroRacing Audi.
Voeckler has had a real journeyman's year, appearing for various teams in F1RDS, Rejects of LFS and F3RWRS, but will now make the step up to the rung of the RWRS ladder immediately below F1RWRS in what has been a surprisingly rapid rise up the ranks.
"For sure, it's a great day for me," said the Frenchman. "I am really happy Aeroracing have given me this chance. I know the car has not been the best this season, but I will still give everything and try to make the race, and do a clean drive and finish as high as possible I hope. Maybe it won't happen but, of course, I will do everything I can to make sure it does."
Souto Maior had originally been penciled in to race for the remaining events on the calendar, but a clash with the F3RWRS Surfers SuperPrix meant he stepped down from his seat in the lead Aeroracing F2 car, instead electing to contest the lower series' finale.
With the team struggling for performance, some critics have suggested that Voeckler has been brought in because of his substantial sponsorship backing, but he insists that was not a factor in the move.
"For sure, no, there was nothing to do with my backing from Alstom, the number one provider of Power and Transportation Systems in Europe. Actually, I don't believe there will be any new logos on the car. Of course, you will have to ask them about their strategic decisions, but I would assume it was a talent-based choice, because from my end there was not much mention of sponsorships."

You of all people should know I'm far more prudent with F2RWRS results than I am with Predicament Predictions.

Speaking of results:
2015 F2RWRS Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix
Race
Positives
Michael Cameron - Simpson Motorsport have fallen off the edge of the Earth since about round 5, just when it looked like lead driver Michael Cameron was going to lead their title charge. Here in Japan, although it may be too little, too late, Cameron came back with a vengeance to score his first F2RWRS victory and put himself right in contention for second in the championship. With the unexpected rainstorm coming in the middle of the one-stopper's window, he was one of the major beneficiaries as he was able to switch to the wets and refuel to the end at the same time. Once Kremnicky suffered a frightening stuck throttle and Pazzini stopped again, the win was his for the taking.
Gianluigi Pazzini - Had the rain come a few laps later, Gianluigi Pazzini would have been well on his way to his first victory. As it was, second was still a fine result for Gigi considering he had to pass Terry Hawkin on track to get it, and with the pace he showed in the wet in the end (being the second fastest car behind the rampaging Jean-Vincent Albertini), there's more than enough to suggest he deserves a second year in the F2RWRS.
Jean-Vincent Albertini - After being absolutely trounced in qualifying by teammate Gregor Pascal, Albertini regrouped to score a well-deserved, if slightly fortuitous, podium for the Gillet team and put himself right in the hunt for second place. Once he and Pazzini pitted for their second and final stops, they instantly became the two fastest cars on track, with Albertini taking an incredible 1-2 seconds a lap out of the leaders as he showed that he was more than a street circuit specialist.
Terry Hawkin - Terry was the real hard-luck story of the afternoon as he, along with Cameron, were the real beneficiaries of the timing of the rainstorm. However, he didn't have quite enough pace to hold back Pazzini or Albertini to take what would have been a fine second place. And then, the transmission went on the final lap, denying the Englishman a comfortable fourth place and being right in the thick of the titanic scrap for second in the drivers' championship.
Martin van der Maeyede - While teammate Matthias Valsattis was too busy being used as a punching bag, Martin van der Maeyede showed off the hereunto untapped potential in the Kingfisher-Holden combination that former drivers Ashley Lilly and Scott Davidson had been squandering all year. As another beneficiary of the storm, Maeyede was right in the thick of it for major points, and despite both Kingfisher cars handling awfully in the wet, the Dutchman held on to score his first career points in the F2RWRS
Negatives
Falik Arrows - Prince Falik's mob have been nowhere since Belgium and their horrific second half of the year continued with another insipid showing at Japan. Yuka Katayama battled hard in the midfield early on before a suspension failure put an early end to her day. Meanwhile, Josh Carlisle spent most the early going battling the likes of MRT and Ryan Zimmer before the rain came. After that, two avoidable collisions where he simply ran up the back of other people earned him a visit to the stewards and a probation for his trouble.
Scuderia Alitalia - The Lancia work team's pace around Fuji before the race made them the team to beat come race day and with Tomo Kazama having a bad weekend that only got worse as the weekend went on, this was the opportunity their two drivers have been begging for all season. And then their now infamous unreliability struck again with the transmission in Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen's car seizing after a few laps. But that was nothing compared to the frightening accident Andrej Kremnicky had when his throttle jammed open on the back straight. While he was unharmed in the accident, the car was an absolute writeoff which means they'll have to use a spare car from RonDen until they get a new car ready for Indianapolis.
Gregor Pascal - As soon as the lights went off in Japan, it became clear that Pascal simply didn't have the pace to hang with the leaders on a day where his teammate shone in the sister car. The Swiss driver fell from 3rd to 6th from the start, fell off the road altogether a few laps later, and spent the rest of his afternoon stranded in the lower midfield before a water leak put a merciful early end to his race.
Tomo Kazama - To put it simply, this was a drive you'd expect from Tanner Jason when he's in an especially bad mood, not from the championship elect. After trolling around the bottom end of the points for the first few laps, she finally lost her patience and started hitting people instead. Four collisions, a pointless 13th place finish, a reject of the race a race ban later, she got ridiculously lucky that neither Alitalia managed to capitalise on her poor showing but with two races to go, whether her ban will affect her title campaign remains to be seen.

Aston Martin have the option to lodge an appeal against Kazama's ban which Tom Douglas will have a look at when he can be bothered. I also need to hear from the owners of Dofasco and Hydook as to whether Buyvolov and Ristic will be racing at Road America or not.

Aston Martin will definitely appeal the ban, as we think it is too harsh. Maybe a probation would be better instead? Kazama hasn't been on a streak of collisions until now...
Also, what is the maximum amount of points a driver can earn in a weekend?

I think what's becoming inherently clear is that MRT have gone the wrong way in driver selection.

12. That means if the ban stays or Kazama fails to finish in the next race,
B. van Nieuwenhuijzen would have to finish at least third whilst also taking pole or fastest lap
J-V. Albertini and A. Kremnicky must take the win, fastest lap and pole position to stay in the championship chase
If the ban is repelled, Kazama would be able to secure her title by finishing sixth or higher, no matter what the other drivers do.

Disagree. If I hadn't bagged Kremnicky I'd have tried to sign Marchesi probably. I was interested for all of 2014 to get him on my team but eventually events transpired that meant I could achieve more with other options. If Scuderia Alitalia's junior programme wasn't already chok-a-blok with champions he'd have been on my radar.

Re: F2RWRS - The feeder category of the F1RWRS
Since I figured that I could probably get away with running Road America this weekend, I've decided that, unless Dofasco or Hydook object, to appoint replacements of my own choosing. In the second Dofasco seat this weekend will be Canadian RoLFS driver Justin Case making his F2RWRS debut, while Anton Bosevic will make his return as a super-sub in the second Hydook seat. Meanwhile, Tomo Kazama's race ban has been reduced to a suspended ban but if she breaks the rules again, Theo will not hesitate to reinstate the ban. And he also says if anyone is found guilty of 'crawling' around the track after an accident or mechanical failure an Indy, they will not be driving in the 2016 F1RWRS or F2RWRS Tasman GP, no questions asked.

While the Hydook change makes sense as Pointrox doesn't frequent these forums much anymore, and Bosevic is an inter-team transfer, you are overstepping your bounds with the Dofasco change. The_Lukas is still here quite often, and Justin Case belongs to This and not you, maybe he doesn't want him driving for Dofasco. If he says it's okay, then okay, but you can't just go around making decisions for people without prior warning, this isn't the right course of action...

If Ataxia agrees, then maybe Torrente can fill in at Dofasco? After all, he's committing career suicidegoing there next year, and the RoLFS season's finished.

Thanks, Wizzie, the punishment seemed too severe in the first place. And it's not like Kazama is consistently practicing bumper cars as well.
