The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing thread
Re: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing threa
Jeff Gordon kind of redeems himself one week later.
He wins the very race many people felt he shouldn't have participated in. That's brilliant.
87 wins now. Whoa!

Nelson Piquet Jr. is in my hometown. I wonder how many people other than me knows about how his career in F1 went.

The Trucks have tested at Eldora, and my word we could have a great race there in 2013.

And the new-look Sprint Cup cars all look the business, the Chevy in particular. (although the Charger was best IMO)

bathplug my touch screen. i meant to type "[/sarcasm]" srsly.
but anyways, i'm not really feeling the look of this new car here. not a fan of the big gaping mouth it has. reminds me of the Pug 207 haha
it looks ok overall though. that's my honest opinion. i was going to type "butt-ugly" no matter what it looked like because i'm a bit of a Ford fan.
i WILL admit that this scheme looks pretty cool

it's a complicated system i have in my head.

Re: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing threa
I loved how many current drivers openly troll Danica, right when she's there. Last year we had Tony Stewart, when asked a question by a reporter go "Oh, I can talk now? you're not going to ask Danica a question? Are you sure?" and this year had Clint Boywer ask who lets who go into Turn 1 first: "You go ahead! No you!, No you!, Oh my god I love yous o much!" Danica's death stares are worth their weight in unobtainium. She's not used to people not rolling over for her like they did in Indycar.

Re: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing threa
The Bud Shootout, er I'm sorry, the (sigh) Sprint Unlimited is tonight. Whether or not you like NASCAR, in America the shootout is the first sign that our damnable winter is ending. The race actually should be fairly entertaining as the drivers still haven't figured out the "Gen 6" car yet. Junior brought a three day test to an end after 1/2 a day a few weeks ago when he caused a ten-car pileup. Matt Keneseth yesterdya ended first practice not long after it started with a 6 car melee. Expect the "big-one" tonight. You mileage will vary on whether or not its a good thing, but it could lead to a surprise winner.
For extra rejectfulness it has not been decided how many pit-stops (if any) will be allowed. Fans are supposed to vote via text on their Sprint phones.

So what if, there aren't any pitstops allowed? Could we see the stock cars slowing down, in order to make the end of the race?

It'd take them about 5 laps to slow down seen as the cars weigh more than the Costa Concordia

Re: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing threa
Possibly. Plate tracks often turn into fuel economy runs anyway. However I'm more worried about their being cars left to finish. They changed the requirements to get in, (AGAIN) making it much harder. Only 19 cars are starting the race, and as I said two accidents alone took out 16 cars. Also fans can vote how many cars get eliminated after 55 laps, with one option being six cars. If it wins, that means AT MOST we'll have 13 cars for the last 20 laps. Someone gets happy feet, look out......

Well the Gen 6 is several hundred pounds lighter than the COT, but yes, they're still tanks.

I like the fact that it has returned to being exclusive to pole winners. Otherwise, winning a pole during the season doesn't mean very much. But the prospect of having 6 cars eliminated is worrying. I can't imagine a 13 car field would be all that exciting.

Terry Labonte, Kurt Busch, and Kevin Harvich don't have poles, but all did win the event back at some point back in time. So only former champions of the Sprint Unlimited and Polesitters are allowed.

So could this be the Marcos Ambrose National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing thread? Or is there a better suited driver in sight who maybe listened to what Boris said? There surely must be one amongst the road course specialists.
While we are speaking, it is being reported worldwide that Danica Patrick has scored the fastest practise time of this year's Daytona 500 so far on this Saturday. She really is an oval specialist.
Can one of the moderators maybe add a bathplug icon to the available smilies on the right?

His spotter took blame for it. Good save by Tony. These cars aren't doing too bad in race trim, they are moving around lots in the pack and there is a lot more of a spread from the front to the back.

I don't think he is worthy of reject of the race at all. He has been doing a great job of saving the car all night. He just saved himself from taking out Earnhardt Jr. and Logano.

But didn't Ford of America devise the design for the new Fusion (Which is also going to be used for the Ford Mondeo)? But yes, Ford did seem to take a page or two out of the rulebook about Aston's grills.

She actually has some talent, to the point that Jackie Stewart already saw her in Formula One. But regrettably, she chose the easy part and stayed in the US, where she's been receiving special status ever since. At least she hasn't gone on to marrying her team-owner.
