Which means that he could have worked for Erebus Motorsport's Australian GT program at some point in the past... Now the more I think about it, the less and less sense signing Engel for the number 9 car makes.

This just makes me feel quite sorry for Chaz Mostert. After doing really well in the Dunlop Series last year he has been snubbed by both FPR and Erebus. The only real place I see him popping up now is at DJR. (Who I doubt will be competitive this year)

Bleh. Stupid Finnish Defence Force restricting the time I have to follow F1 and most of all this forum. Made me miss the entire latter half of the season and looking at it, gonna miss the first half of the next.
Frustrating since hell, we got a new Finn in!

Also, I'm terribly late to any and all discussions with myself namedropped. Nice to be remembered, even though as the bad guy >_>
I got Pointed Opinions and I ain't afraid to use em!

BTW, thats Räikkönen with two K's and two N's. Not Raikonnen (Raikkonen is fine if you have no umlauts though)

It was the latter half you'd have wanted to see too. Vettel winning 4 races in a row, and Kimi winning at Abu Dhabi.

I am angry at Alguersuari's claims (and for that matter everyone saying the new rookies don't deserve to be in F1) that F1 is an Auction.

This is coming from the Spaniard who has a significantly weaker Junior Series record than any of the rookies starting this season.

When Alguersuari made his F1 debut bank rolled by Red Bull he was 8th in the Formula Renault 3.5 standings, this before Formula Renault could even stack up against GP2. He was 19 and clearly not ready and though he didn't disgrace himself, he didn't exactly do anything special.

Now either a) The rookies have run in GP2 and have proven their worth by regularly running at the front (Guteirez, Chilton, Van Der Garde, Razia)

and/or b) They have been groomed for F1 for a number of years (Bottas and possibly Bianchi)

Not to mention people continue to criticise Maldonado despite the fact he is a race winner and delivered some of the best qualifying laps of the season. I don't get it.

Yes I won't argue that money is a big reason why these rookies (minus Bottas) got their drive but it is not like these drivers are being plucked out of nowhere. I feel they are not even being given a chance.

Formula 1 owes Alguersuari nothing, now if Jaime can do a Grosjean and earn his way back on to the grid, that would be great.

I think that somewhere along the line people seemed to confuse the term "pay driver". We've discussed it at length before here, but ultimately, your archetypal pay driver is someone with a large personal fortune, no junior category results, totally undeserving of a race seat. No drivers currently in F1 really fit that bill, and at a push only Karthikeyan really.

People need to come to terms with the fact that drivers have had sponsorship backing to sweeten deals for race seats since motorsport began. Today's current crop of drivers are nothing new.

Exactly. I also felt Algerswarrys comments were a bit opportunistic as the issue of tight finances in F1 is very much in the headlines right now. Id include the phrase 'sour grapes' but Im not sure how well that translates for our good friends around the EU and the rest of the world.

No official confirmation yet, though that's usually a sign they've just let go of the entire PR department. Which is exactly what happened right before HRT went bust. And USF1, for that matter.

Nothing new on that front. Although I was hoping to be proved wrong, once again Craig Cod dropped the ball. I am just gutted for the people who worked there...

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I heard from a reliable source that the whole thing was a smokescreen to try and get manufacturer support and no actual designs were created.

I see... It's fishy Craig Cod playing trying to burn steps again. If I remember well, Ilmor and Cosworth had proven track record and an actual engine to show for it.

If so, then it sounds like it probably was a fairly expensive smokescreen then - did that source indicate whether Craig had a particular manufacturer he was trying to court?

I was a bit pissed off by the lack of activity while the forums were down. I wouldn't mind it if people had a reason for not being in the chat/temporary forum but it just seems like most members didn't show up because they were lazy.

Or because they a) didn't knew/remembered the chat was active all that time and b) didn't had the link anyway.

But I reckon these might sound like lame excuses...

If you are talking about Mibbit, it's not a great solution. You can't see messages writted previously by others before you joined. It's fine for live events, but when you have hours between people coming and going to read posts it just doesn't work.

That's the problem with chatrooms in general (IRC, ZippyChat, etc). You see, I did not see anything prior to "cash converters" thingy by AndreaModa during the 1991 LGPS French GP chat I attended. :|

Which is why I personally saved & shared all chat logs from Italy onwards.

Anyway, some forums and other sites have shoutboxes/chatboxes, which log the messages sent there even when you are offline. In fact, Eurobrun's temporary forum has one. However, I do not know how to make one to be standalone instead of being on a site.

Why can't the forums go down while I'm preparing for my exams? No, they went down just when I had done both. And what do you spend your holidays with in February, if you don't even have the F1 Rejects forums.

Honestly, i didn't know. That's why i asked a question for 'any news about the forum' on the F1rejectsracingteam fb-page, in the hope that somebody would link me some sort of temporary forum. Seems the few people on there didn't know more than i did, or just ignored the page, as the page itself is pretty useless.

Yeah alright. But it does make sense to ask a question on my own page first, as after all, most of the people there are on this forum too. Anyway, my point is that i honestly didn't know of the existance of a temporary forum, altough i suspected that by this time, one should be existing. The fact that i could have done more to find is perhaps true, but so is it about lot of things in life i don't know.

Didn't know we had this! Liked! :)

I tried and failed to find an F1Rejects Facebook page during the forum downtime. So I have now liked this page. :D

Right, I'm in on there as well. Who's running it, incidentally?

Not F1-related, but I need to vent.

The bathplugging NIMBY brigade in this country have struck again. They're trying to get Mallory Park circuit in Leicester shut down because of the noise levels. I swear these sort of people deliberately move near to circuits and entertainment venues, just so they can have a big whinge and kick up a fuss. If the place was there before you moved there, don't bathplugging complain!

Say what you want about non-democratic dictatorships: this garbage doesn't happen there.
