I bought an AV/S-Video USB capture device recently, so I'll upload videos of my runs from now. Also, I wonder why I have more points in the overall championship than in the GT5 championship :?

I have good news and bad news: good news is I haven't completely forgotten about this and wanted to post the result for this scenario only to notice the bad news: I only have two results (MinardiFan95 and RealRacingRoots) in my mailbox, I am unsure whether I accidently deleted any other ones or these were the only two I got. Now we have to find a solution; it's voting time:

* Option A: Since deadlines can be safely ignored either way, I'd give you two weeks or so to send any new attempts
* Option B: We disregard everything and continue with Scenario 3-6 and pretend 3-5 was swallowed by a dark hole
* Option C: Everything is taken at face value and we have only two participants in round 3-5

Anyone interested in a revival of this... or at least something similar to this? If it's OK with Klon, I might take over the running of this series.

Do not let me stop you, although we should obviously start a new season then. ;)

If you want to keep on the spirit of bad puns or references that go over other people's heads in the challenge titles, please feel free to ask me.

Being the sort of Gran Turismo player I am, HECK YES!!

I got to Lv 40 a-spec in GT5 on the 2 year anniversity of GT5's release. So, It's about time for me to try something! Because Lately GT5 has been boring!

EDIT: I also found my Original GT4 save as well!

I still have my 99.something save for GT4, in addition to well-advanced saves in both GT1 and GT2. So yeah, I think I could give it another shot.

I'm thinking that instead of trying to calculate a multiplier for the different tracks in GT2 when rounds are run on tracks not in that game, the points for that go straight into the overall championship... so there's two different races in one round effectively.

GT1 and 2 can be played by me, but despite owning 3 and 4, cannot use my PS2, and even if I could, I cannot record from it.

Well I can't record either (at least not in a convenient way, I guess the VHS-to-USB converter could be adapted for that...), so unless it's a problem to others I'll just do it in the traditional way (i.e. sending in my time and what car and tuning I used).

Same here. The only way I can record myself is with my phone, but I will refuse to do that no matter what.

I may be interested in the occasional entry, on PSP again, and I will probably be totally rejectful again... And I too wouldn't know how to record the footage!

As far as I'm aware, the only way to record PSP footage is to use a mobile or something. And I'm not doing that. No way on gods earth.

Scenario 4-1 - How hard can it be?

The Challenge: You've (probably) seen the episode of Top Gear where Jeremy Clarkson compares Gran Turismo 4 to reality. Clarkson may have been much slower in reality, however that isn't the point of this challenge. Your challenge is to beat Clarkson's time on the game - 1:41.148 - using the same combination of car and track - a Honda NSX on Laguna Seca. If you do so, you will earn 5 bonus points, in addition to the points you will score for finishing position in the challenge.

Cars and Tracks:
Gran Turismo 2: Honda NSX Type S Zero on Laguna Seca
Gran Turismo 4: Honda NSX Type R on Laguna Seca
Gran Turismo PSP: Honda NSX Type R on Laguna Seca
Gran Turismo 5: Honda NSX Type R on Laguna Seca

Cars must remain stock, with only an oil change allowed. Sports Hard tyres are to be used.

Points: Pre 2003 F1 points system - 10-6-4-3-2-1, plus bonus points for beating Clarkson's time

Deadline: Two weeks from the date this was posted (so the 30th of April) at 11:59pm GMT. Send your submissions via email (by using the email link under my username) or using a video.
This is a cool spot.

For GTPSP, what tire I need to use - S1, S2, or S3? And GT2 players will proably need the only available sports tires, right? ;)

Possibly I will do so.

However, I ran a 1:35 on my SECOND lap on stock tires... so there's at least 2-3 seconds in there for improvement?

Wow! That is a quick time and doing it on stock tires?

In GT5, I only managed a 1:37 after doing the oil change of course. On my lap, the rear end was stepping out way too much, for my preference Maybe I will try the same challenge on GT4, and see if I fare any better there.

But boy, I have my work cut off for the time being!

EDIT: Just tried this challenge on GT4, and my best time has improved to a 1:34.9.

My best is a 1.34.5 at present, but it really is far too tail happy through certain corners to go properly quickly.

I told you, there's several seconds of improvement waiting in there.
Does sports tires give you extra grip? I'm thinking about not applying it - I have literally abused the NSX in one of the license tests when I went for all golds... during the several hundred failures I got to know it.

Good news everyone! My save's working again! For some reason...

Okay, seriously, how the hell are you guys clocking 1:34s? I'm getting 1:41s off the bat - 2 or 3 seconds I can understand, but I can't see where I'm losing seven bloody seconds.

GT2 is a little unrealistic on this occasion. Let me tell you, I did faster laps since then, without going radically offroad (looking at you, penultimate corner!).

Fair enough.

Also for some reason GT4 has decided that it doesn't want to record my laps anymore... I knew there was a reason I didn't like this game anymore... :|

Seeing BCS not really being able to beat the target time (and not due to being slow), while I dived easily below it without much effort, I believe the GT2 laptimes should be multiplied up to 110%. So a 94 second lap should be 103,4, which wouldn't match Clarkson's time, but for example, a 92 second lap ~ 1:41.2 in 110% - would be there.
This would also give chance for others.

What do you think?
