Re: KL-racer's Alternative DTM: 2003 season

Post by KL-racer »

Well, the second half of the DTM season begins in Sepang, here's the qualifying results

1 Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:59.510
2 Johnny Cecotto (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:59.563
3 Timo Scheider (Lamb Motorsports) 1:59.736
4 Alain Menu (Warsteiner Renault) 1:59.743
5 Laurent Aiello (AP Motorsport) 1:59.763
6 Manuel Reuter (AP Motorsport) 1:59.797
7 Jean Alesi (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:59.997
8 Olivier Beretta (Lamb Motorsports) 2:00.052
9 Yvan Muller (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 2:00.117
10 Jan Magnussen (Sorensen Motorsport) 2:00.205
11 Hideki Noda (Dominic Racing Team) 2:00.338
12 Jean-Marc Gounon (Warsteiner Renault) 2:00.382
13 Ryo Michigami (DSR Racing) 2:00.481
14 Henry Lee Jr. (DSR Racing) 2:00.485
15 Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 2:00.654
16 Perry McCarthy (Dominic Racing Team) 2:00.774
17 Paul Rivett (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 2:00.801
18 Christophe Bouchut (Zakspeed) 2:00.868
19 Giovanni Lavaggi (Zakspeed) 2:01.339
20 Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 2:01.380
21 Luciano Burti (JLD Motorsport) 2:01.504
22 Bernd Schneider (Liqui Target) 2:01.554
23 Sven Heidfeld (Fischkopf Motorsports) 2:01.739
24 Christijan Albers (Liqui Target) 2:01.830
25 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 2:02.049
26 Alex Muller (Fischkopf Motorsports) 2:03.632

J. Muller gets pole position, but that's not the main talking point. The main talking point was Burti managing to outqualifed Biela, who has all of JLD's points this season. Meanwhile Fischkopf's chances of getting points this season took a major dent, with A. Muller being 1.6 seconds or so slower than Biela! Yet another stellar qualifying performance by Menu, but when is the point finish going to come? We are into the second half of the season and he hasn't got any points on the board, yet.

It's a lamb motorsports 1-2 finish. With T. Schieder winning and Beretta 2nd. Richards rounds out the podium. And guess that monkey is indeed off Menu's back, he finally gets his first points with a 4th. Bouchut gets his first points with a 5th place finish. Lee Jr. gets some much needed points for DSR, Magnussen and Gounon rounds out the points paying positions.

Damn, Lee jr. narrowly missed 4th place. However, we are more than happy with this result. Additional 1000 euro on cornering and it seems that will be our last major upgrade this season.

Not bad for a pay driver. I'd like to invest 150€ on acceleration and 300€ on cornering.

Here's the round 7 Qualifying results from Eurospeedway Lausitz

1 Johnny Cecotto (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:52.739
2 Manuel Reuter (AP Motorsport) 1:52.873
3 Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:52.876
4 Jean Alesi (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:52.953
5 Laurent Aiello (AP Motorsport) 1:52.956
6 Alain Menu (Warsteiner Renault) 1:52.978
7 Jan Magnussen (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:53.120
8 Yvan Muller (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:53.146
9 Perry McCarthy (Dominic Racing Team) 1:53.150
10 Ryo Michigami (DSR Racing) 1:53.302
11 Hideki Noda (Dominic Racing Team) 1:53.318
12 Timo Scheider (Lamb Motorsports) 1:53.326
13 Olivier Beretta (Lamb Motorsports) 1:53.349
14 Jean-Marc Gounon (Warsteiner Renault) 1:53.403
15 Paul Rivett (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:53.477
16 Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:53.738
17 Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:53.979
18 Henry Lee Jr. (DSR Racing) 1:54.017
19 Bernd Schneider (Liqui Target) 1:54.364
20 Luciano Burti (JLD Motorsport) 1:54.514
21 Christophe Bouchut (Zakspeed) 1:54.550
22 Giovanni Lavaggi (Zakspeed) 1:54.673
23 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 1:54.713
24 Sven Heidfeld (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:55.200
25 Christijan Albers (Liqui Target) 1:55.203
26 Alex Muller (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:55.463

Guess that 1-2 finish the previous round, has impacted Lamb motorsports in terms of success ballast, they only managed 12th and 13th. Cecotto gets another pole position. But as you may know, the race almost always produces some intersting results espically with the success ballast in play!

15 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 1:10:40.088
16 Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:11:00.805
17 Sven Heidfeld (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:11:02.710

Perry McCarthy (Dominic Racing Team) DNF lap 31
Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) DNF lap 20
Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) DNF lap 20
Henry Lee Jr. (DSR Racing) DNF lap 5

AP motorsports finally gets a win! I honestly don't know how did beretta sneaked up there in 2nd, despite having a boatload of success ballast on already before this race? Noda rounds out the podium, Y. Muller gets some solid points with a 4th. Menu gets points for the second straight race, While zakspeed gets both cars in the points for the first time this season. Aiello gets the final point for 8th.

Beretta has a somewhat big lead in the drivers title and Lamb motorsports is trying to get their first teams title. We arrive at Sachsenring trying to figure out if Beretta and Lamb motorsports can take a step closer to winning the big prize. Here's the round 8 qualifying results

1 Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:28.680
2 Laurent Aiello (AP Motorsport) 1:28.817
3 Johnny Cecotto (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:28.820
4 Jean Alesi (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:28.948
5 Timo Scheider (Lamb Motorsports) 1:29.043
6 Jan Magnussen (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:29.119
7 Perry McCarthy (Dominic Racing Team) 1:29.144
8 Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:29.193
9 Alain Menu (Warsteiner Renault) 1:29.389
10 Ryo Michigami (DSR Racing) 1:29.419
11 Henry Lee Jr. (DSR Racing) 1:29.438
12 Jean-Marc Gounon (Warsteiner Renault) 1:29.445
13 Manuel Reuter (AP Motorsport) 1:29.522
14 Paul Rivett (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:29.562
15 Hideki Noda (Dominic Racing Team) 1:29.586
16 Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:29.752
17 Yvan Muller (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:29.818
18 Olivier Beretta (Lamb Motorsports) 1:29.873
19 Christophe Bouchut (Zakspeed) 1:30.060
20 Giovanni Lavaggi (Zakspeed) 1:30.270
21 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 1:30.342
22 Luciano Burti (JLD Motorsport) 1:30.372
23 Bernd Schneider (Liqui Target) 1:30.537
24 Sven Heidfeld (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:30.855
25 Christijan Albers (Liqui Target) 1:31.094
26 Alex Muller (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:31.290

J. muller got the pole position, maybe he's playing a spoiler role. T. Scheider qualified 5th but Beretta's massive success ballast means he will start 18th. If beretta does squeeze out a point out of this starting position, then I honestly don't know how would I respond.

Here's the round 9 qualifying results from Catalunya.

1 Johnny Cecotto (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:42.263
2 Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) 1:42.272
3 Timo Scheider (Lamb Motorsports) 1:42.436
4 Laurent Aiello (AP Motorsport) 1:42.559
5 Yvan Muller (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:42.675
6 Olivier Beretta (Lamb Motorsports) 1:42.754
7 Jean Alesi (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:42.771
8 Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) 1:42.809
9 Jean-Marc Gounon (Warsteiner Renault) 1:43.051
10 Ryo Michigami (DSR Racing) 1:43.096
11 Jan Magnussen (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:43.101
12 Manuel Reuter (AP Motorsport) 1:43.121
13 Alain Menu (Warsteiner Renault) 1:43.136
14 Perry McCarthy (Dominic Racing Team) 1:43.148
15 Paul Rivett (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:43.505
16 Henry Lee Jr. (DSR Racing) 1:43.609
17 Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:43.715
18 Hideki Noda (Dominic Racing Team) 1:43.755
19 Christophe Bouchut (Zakspeed) 1:43.806
20 Luciano Burti (JLD Motorsport) 1:44.403
21 Bernd Schneider (Liqui Target) 1:44.667
22 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 1:44.715
23 Sven Heidfeld (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:44.768
24 Christijan Albers (Liqui Target) 1:44.818
25 Giovanni Lavaggi (Zakspeed) 1:45.047
26 Alex Muller (Fischkopf Motorsports) 1:45.569

D2-Kabel locks out the front row. Beretta, starts 6th, could clinch the driver's title this round, but he will need his points gap to be 11 or greater after the race.

In other news, the midpack in the team's standings is jam-packed, expect everyone to fight very hard for the points. It seems like fischkopf may not get any points after all, but then again, you never know what's going to happen!

12 Jan Magnussen (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:06:48.311
13 Luciano Burti (JLD Motorsport) 1:06:52.746
14 Manuel Reuter (AP Motorsport) 1:06:54.507
15 Christijan Albers (Liqui Target) 1:07:02.168
16 Jean Alesi (Sorensen Motorsport) 1:07:03.271
17 Frank Biela (JLD Motorsport) 1:07:14.450
18 Jim Richards (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1:07:26.252
19 Christophe Bouchut (Zakspeed) 1 lap
20 Paul Rivett (Blokkmonsta Motorsport) 1 lap
21 Bernd Schneider (Liqui Target) 1 lap
Jorg Muller (D2-Kabel Racing) DNF lap 33
Timo Scheider (Lamb Motorsports) DNF lap 29
Giovanni Lavaggi (Zakspeed) DNF lap 24
Jean-Marc Gounon (Warsteiner Renault) DNF lap 7
Vanina Ickx (Belgian VW/Audi Club) DNF lap 5

DSR wins another thriller, this time Michigami takes the checkered flag. Y. Muller gets a 2nd, Cecotto rounds out the podium. Beretta finishes 4th. McCarthy comes away with a top 5 finish. Menu gets more points, but the biggest surprise here, is Fischkopf finally gets on the board, with a 7th by Sven Heidfeld. Lee Jr. gets the final point for 8th.

And before I forget, pi314159, bouchut's has done his 6 races, do you want to pay him to a salary for the next race AND next season? the same question applies to andrew for albers.

Bouchut has done better than expected, but Zakspeed can't afford paying a salary, so he'll be replaced by another pay driver for the last race. I guess Katsutomo Kaneishi qualifies for the 300€ tier.

Yeah, it's me again, so here's the championship scenarios as of now

For the teams title

Lamb motorsports needs at least 4 points to clinch the teams title, because if Lamb motorsports finishes with 73 points and Belgian VW/Audi finishes 1-2, Belgian VW/Audi will own the tiebreak for more total race wins.

For the drivers title

Beretta needs at least one more point to win his second driver's title, if Beretta finishes outside of the points or DNF's, then Y. Muller has to win the race and then Y. Muller will win the Tiebreak for more race wins.

So, it's basically a striaght-up fight between Lamb Motorsports and Belgian VW/Audi for both titles.

Well, all the money we got on car development. 300 cornering, 300 acceleration and 200 reliability. Small chance that we will make it, but this might be the only chance this small privateer will ever have.

So let's hope the JLD guys help us by crashing into the Lambs and Yvan and Vanina will take a commanding 1-2!
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

Woohoo, second victory in a row - we can't be more happy than that. A good end of the season for DSR.

For Renault, if leftover cash from 2003 budgets rolls over into 2004;
Do nothing.

If leftover cash from 2003 does not remain for 2004, then do the following;
Spend 50% of remaining budget on acceleration
Spend the other 50% on cornering

Yes, albers would cost you 500 EUR and he will be signed for the last race of this season AND next season.

Is that okay?

We spent our team budget of 3000eu in at mid season - can Opel upgrade our reliability sine our other catagories are maxed out?

Well, that didn't go well, but the team still clinched a podium on the constructors' rostrum, so it's alright.
Do you plan to make it into a WTCC championship? :D
