Best track
1. Nuppiz (8)
2. dr-baker (6)
3. pi314159 (6)

Most rejectful track
1. roblomas52 (12)
2. Bleu (4)
3. dr-baker (4)

Nuppiz wins the best track award through sheer consistency. Meanwhile for MRT (most rejectful track, not Melrose Racing Team), roblomas52 Schumacher/Agostini/Loebs the title by unanimously being declared most rejectful track designer by all two voters.

I won something? Well, that was a bit unexpected, although with only two voters (I was going to vote myself, but forgot...) it was a rather unspectacular win.

Anyway, let's hit the controversial path again, shall we? Your task is to make a Formula One-suitable track in Western Sahara, a long-disputed territory in, well, Western Africa. The rules are as follows:
  • The track must be between 4.5 and 7 kilometers long.
  • At least 10% of the track must be on existing roads, but there's loads of flat land to make a track on!
  • Additionally, due to dinizintheoven previously using it in a non-competition track, the city of Laayoune is off limits.

Track goes clockwise, start/finish line is in the middle of the street used as a straight, pits are to the right (west) of that straight

Stuck this in the town of Bir Lehlou, the de facto capital of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. Pitlane to be along the southern road.

My circuit, almost completely designed from scratch:

It's running anti-clockwise.

Okay, my entry, the Dakhla Street Circuit, or what I like to call "The Largest Flag in the World GP". (You'll see what I mean when you zoom in to the south of the circuit).

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5903390

So, the start/finish straight is the airport runway, with the pits alongside, the tarmac more than wide enough to accommodate both. The track runs in a clockwise direction, so following the long blast down the runway, turn 1 (Terminal Corner) is a long, long right hander taken at some speed. This leads into the aerodynamically vital first sector, with the left and then right of turns 2 and 3 following on immediately which really test the aero grip of the car. Turn 4 flows on from 3, a long left-handed 180 degree turn, itself followed straight away by turn 5. The short straight that follows then marks the end of the first sector.

The second sector begins with the first heavy braking zone on the circuit, for the double right of turns 6 and 7 (collectively known as Hassan II corner), which brings the circuit onto public roads for the first time, and begin the street circuit section, a combination of tight mostly 90 degree turns and fast straights in between. Turns 8, 9 and 10 exemplify this, with 10 bringing the track onto Boulevard El Hassan Bengellon, a very long straight of a similar length to the start/finish straight. This gives the cars the opportunity to accelerate up to maximum speed, before braking hard for the hairpin of turn 11, known as The Largest Flag in the World Corner, for obvious reasons. This is probably the best overtaking spot on the circuit, and on the straight that follows, sector two ends, and sector three begins.

Sector 3 is a mixture of the first two sectors, some high-speed aero dependent corners mixed with some street circuit-style complexes. It begins with the fast left and right of turns 12 and 13, which brings the track back onto the streets, now on Boulevard Mohammed Fadel Semlali. The left handed kink of 14 is taken flat out as the cars build up speed before braking heavily to turn right at turn 15, another good overtaking spot. A fairly long straight follows turn 15, before the double left hander of 16 and 17 as the track leaves the public roads once more. The long turn 18 comes after a short straight, with the left-handed turn 19 bringing the track back onto the runway for another lap.

Voila! :D

My entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5903747

The track is near the Caserne Militaire base, which is in Cape Bojador. The track is anti-clockwise. The pits are on the straight between the two chicanes.

I tried to have a large number of straights and a good mix of fast and slow corners. Sector 1 will be the first two kilometers and should be very fast with the straights. The first chicane is for safety reasons and should resemble a bus stop. The next turn, turn five (the chicane counts as four turns) is a slow hairpin with the track curving right before the hairpin. Turn six is a 90 degree corner and leads to another short burst to turn seven, the last turn in sector one. Sector two runs to the three and one half kilometer mark. There are more corners here. Turn eight is a low-radius corner which should see overtaking. Turns nine and ten are a chicane to slow the cars. Eleven is a weird corner with the track curving right before a sharp left and back right again. Twelve through sixteen are fast sweeping corners. Seventeen is a hairpin which is very tight and back onto public roads. Eighteen through twenty is a chicane complex, with the pit entrance on the right.

Let's say two days without a track being submitted. So currently 2013-04-27 07:25 UTC if I did my time zone conversions right.

Yep, you can, if only because that (like you said) it was done before and no one complained. Also because there's no rule against it.

First of all, I would like to congratulate go_Rubens for an excellent debut.

Herman tilke has died and all of his tracks need some modifying, your task then is to modify any tilkedrome, including hockenheim between 3.5&7.5 km. Other than that, good luck and have fun.
