He came off as a big baby today. Things didn't work out for many drivers, but Paul was the only one being a baby about it.

When was the last time a driver caused his own team to fight. I mean sure Mark Webber was angry after the Malaysia debacle but even he didn't cause fisticuffs only a middle finger

Deputy team principal Bob Fernley has confirmed to Press Association Sport the Silverstone-based team would release Di Resta if an offer comes in.

"Paul is contracted to us anyway for next season, so the question is whether somebody else comes in, so it won't be our decision," said Fernley.

"Whether Paul has to be released, or whatever, that can only come from him.

"But we wouldn't stand in his way. That's not our policy. If a driver feels he is better somewhere else, what would be the point in keeping him?"

And seeing as he's performing really well and likely to nab podiums, maybe he should pipe down and enjoy it. I doubt he'd enjoy his time if he was in a dog of a Ferrari or McLaren. Lotus wouldn't be an improvement either.

No, DLR is for Pedro. Or the Docklands Light Railway, as I've learned.

Either way, di Resta has put in some fairly impressive drives, but at the same time he also has a better car than the Toro Rosso at his disposal. He's not particularly more impressive than either Ricciardo or Vergne at best, so I don't see the benefit in hiring him over one of them, thus justifying Red Bull's driver academy and Toro Rosso's entire existence.

Seriously though I agree with you CoopsII what has he done to suggest that he' any better than Vergne and Ricciardo. It seems to me that he thinks these guys are just some scrubs when I rate them very highly. Since Vergne is generally classed as the better racer i would have loved to have seen what he could have done in this year's Force India.

I also think Di Resta's got no loyalty either as this article shows

Aaargghh, I'm also wondering how PDR can be so revered. If he would have had the results he has now, but instead racing between 1960-2002,
he would have 8 points from 47 races! That's how I judge him, at least.
It's not very good.
I mean, PDLR scored 6 points from 45 races between 1999-2001. He was never talked up as much as PDR.
In my opinion, PDR isn't deserving of this much hype. 8 points from 47 races...

Red Bull and Ferrari should be more interested in the Force India design team that's given both their drivers a top 5 car in F1. They have more to do with the "impressive" drives.

Ah, so i was cofused all along. Brilliant. Ok now i sorted out my DLRs and PDRs.

Di Resta gets a nod from the british media because he is currently doing well. Once he throws away a few good results he'll be back to being Scottish while the press take another look at Chilton. Idk, the well of brits doesn't seem so dry... why they get so much attention is sometimes annoying. Sutils charges and starts have been neglected in favor of talking up Milk Boy, and until Webber's retirement was announced, not much was said about Vergne or Ricciardo either.

The Force India is an interesting machine this year and clearly fast but one mighty reason for that is that Ferrari and Mclaren have stubborn cars that won't work. Sauber and Williams took a wrong turn and Lotus is on-off. It's not so much a case for FI doing something right but so many teams did plenty wrong and it's FIs running around the podium. Both drivers are good and motivated to chase them podiums. Likewise Verge and Ricciardo. STR cars have clearly improved since last year but from what i've heard/read about Force India, their machine is simple, doesn't have a balance issue (Ferrari and Lotus do), doesn't chew tyres and is easy to push hard. The engine is no slouch either. They aren't fantastic but they are getting on with the job and they don't have crippleing issues to deal with (McLaren is really a mess).

The big question, and the reason Force Indias are so easy to ignore even when running legit at the front end of the field is, where will FI be next year? Ferrari, McLaren and even (to a lesser extent) Williams are expected to rise up again. It's almost taken for granted that Ferrari cannot suck for years and years and that McLaren is a name too big to fall. It's true that FI will probably once again deliver an unremarkable car that can be raced well rather than a riskier speed demon they might not be able to tame or cope with, but openings like this don't appear every year. I would love to see FI and STR grab enough of the pie this year and entrench themselves with quality personnel. I don't hate McLaren but atm they are surviving on past glory and in no way on merit. Succes should reward and failures should hurt. Sauber and Marussia may be done for. McLaren should bleed heavily and not reassure us every race that they will improve because ...

In any case more quality teams mean more talent can challenge for the titles, and aslo i am now ranting. Just to close on topic, there is little difference between the four drivers in FI and STR. I hope the rest of the year will be their breakout. Even if it means Di Resta pollution.

I thought this quote from Gary Anderson was quite interesting.

As a driver, Di Resta is as talented as necessary to win races. Whether he can win world championships or not, the biggest thing that lets him down is his attitude. In F1, if you're going to win the world title, you need everyone around you. Every member of the team needs to be pulling for you and really be on your side. And Paul doesn't know how to create that environment for himself. He has a lot to learn and he doesn't seem to be learning it.
