Andrew Benson is probably one of the worst F1 Journalists around. He is heavily biased, sensationalist, sometimes suffers from a severe lack of insight and his analysis are most of the time either rubbish or plainly obvious. Most people on this forum could do better. BBC is worth because of Gary Anderson who writes really insightful posts.
Not to mention that Benson does to Fernando Alonso what James Allen used to do to Lewis Hamilton by hailing him as if he's just created the world

Im not sure why he couldnt name the ex-driver who thinks Alonso is just about to begin a decline, perhaps the ex-driver is waiting to compose a piece for SKY or something. Still, it is a bit ridiculous that Benson is jumping on conclusions after 1 race. Yes, Ferrari have been making mistakes, but it is very hard to keep performing at last year's level all the time... Even Alonso has the right to have a bad race once in a while.
My conclusion: Benson clearly doesn't want to be respected...

That's why i've grown sick to death of London 2012. Don't watch the 2014 Sochi Olympics on the BBC watch it on Eurosport. That way you won't hear commentators banging on about British athletes every 5 minutes. If i ran a sports site I would have information on every country in the world especially considering what Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Rosberg, Vettel and Mercedes did for Germany last weekend
They should just sack Suzi Perry and give the whole show to David Coulthard tbh. After struggling initially he seems a million times more composed than the fountain of uhs and ahs and erms and general confusion and inability to dictate a complete sentence that is Suzi Perry. I mean, christ, people said Georgie Thompson shouldn't have been anywhere near F1 and knew nothing, but at least she could form a coherent sentence of some kind. Nerves are understandable in the first broadcast or two, but a professional would have got over that by now.
Suggesting DC should get the main gig may be a bit of an exaggeration to make a point, but in all seriousness, fire Suzi Perry and bring in James Richardson. Possibly the most underrated and under-utilised sports broadcaster of all time.

However, both Andrew Benson and Phil McNulty are dreadful reporters, and cannot write a meaningful story without letting bias creep in.

Dude, what the hell are you on about? The BBC's coverage of international sports events (Olympics, World Cup etc) is exceptionally balanced, with no real discernible bias. I mean, I watched the 2008 Olympics on RTE (the Irish national broadcaster) and the bias was unreal- there were at least 4 re-runs of every positive thing done by team Ireland (of which there weren't many admittedly). However, my point stands. The BBC provide a very balanced service compared to other, so just bear that in mind
Honestly, I've stopped watching the pre-race garbage-fest entirely. Between Suzi Perry being meh, the torrents of pointless guff, and Eddie Jordan acting like a bratty kid trying to start things everywhere, it's just not worth my time anymore. Only thing I did watch today before the qualifying started was the Kubica interview, and that's only because he's still my favourite driver.

Who's going to say they could write a better report than Andrew Benson? It is the BBC so it's no wonder that we get more of British sports stars. However if it was the World Broadcasting Corporation (WBC) Then it would be a lot different.

You've obviously never seen the Winter Sports page where apart from British Athletes the only athlete who seems to get a mention is Lindsey Vonn and even that's down to her affair with Tiger Woods and her injuries. Then again i don't think many people pay attention to Winter sports which makes it a criminally underrated sport.

Ignoring the context.
David Coulthard spent his life's work driving cars. And suddenly jumped across to presenting televion programmes with no prior experience. Whereas SP has dedicated her career to broadcasting. Given DC's lack of experience when he started out in 2009 and SP's experience of Moto GP, she should be display some sort of competence by the 7th Grand Prix of the year. Which I'm failing to see. Apparently those 16 years of experience aren't doing much good at the moment.
Case in point? Ortis Deley. Had spent 13 years as a broadcaster when he was chosen to host the IAAF World Championship. He was all over the place during the live coverage and had to be replaced.

And let me add our two cents: Hungary was shown almost always on national television (M1 HD, M2 HD, Duna HD or Duna World HD - I don't get it why we have four channels...), and sometimes they just cut away from an exciting match that was going down to the wire just to show A RE-RUN. And all the while, they kept the LIVE logo out every, single, time.

13 years of tripe then. Did no-one realise what a numpty he was going to look doing the IAAF? I really did wonder if I was watching some obscure spof channel rather than a professional outfit when he was on.
As for the BBC, sorry, don't watch it now unless I am unable to see the Sky coverage. Suzi Perry has been disappointing, not really sure what her role is as she has no concept of what F1 is about (at least she ridesand had some interest in bikes before doing Moto GP), and Eddie Jordan is the worst "expert" I have ever seen.
The only good things about BBC F1 is Gary Anderson who is truly excellent and DC who is good.

Nannini draws a few comparisons to Kubica:
1) They only won one race in F1 and were a bit lucky to do so 2) Both severed/partially severed a part of their arm in a crash 3) Did well in other businesses I guess, with Nannini running a coffee shop in Siena and Kubica quite possibly a future WRC/WRC2 champ

Quite. I usually watch the Sky coverage and did so this weekend, but decided to flick over to the Beeb and watch the F1 Forum as it's usually quite informal and fun to watch. For the first time ever I switched it off as they just seemed to be the 3 presenters meandering along the paddock not having a clue where there were, who they were talking to next or where they had to go. Totally ill-prepared and unable to "wing it" in any way shape or form. And Suzi was the worst of the 3. At least JH could ad-lib quite well.
Back to Lazenby, Crofty, Brundle and Bum-Hat from now on then....
As much as I may lambast Globo TV on here, they at least get one thing right - no pre-race. Their coverage starts when the F1 intro thingy starts going five minutes before the race. And straight into Galvao. Which is where it all starts to go downhill
But still, if the BBC wants to focus on quality programming, just can the presenters entirely and focus on DC & Edwards.

I liked him better when he was on CBBC. It always seemed a bit weird to me that he was chosen to head the Beeb's coverage, as I was so used to him presenting children's programmes, but he did do a decent job of it.

I'm a big supporter of him, he negates Barry Glendenning's awfulness on the Guardian's Football Weekly podcast, and is an underused but much appreciated spark of personality on Eurosport's otherwise Sean Kelly/David Harmon infested coverage.
Pity his career has never taken off as it should have following Football Italia.

He seems to have an interest in pretty much everything tbh. In the past he's indicated having some knowledge in F1, but how much excactly I'm not really sure - not that he's really had the opportunity to demonstrate any. I remember he's also presented American football for Channel 4 way, way, waaay back, also Cycling on Eurosport, but I'm not sure what else.
Also, the joke that I quoted is in some ways more a reference to cycling than football. Operación Puerto, which at first was mostly focused on Dr Eufemiano Fuentes' involvement with Pro Cycling has brought both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona into the limelight about blood doping. And there was a Canadian Ice Hockey reference in there a few episodes back. So he's not exactly one-dimensional. Not your typical thick skulled pundit at all.
Even if he's not a racing junkie like some other people, he has the sportscasting chops to command the show even if his knowledge is a little bit behind the curve for a few weeks while learning. You could stick any seriously knowledgeable fan out on air but they'd likely be totally hopeless at holding a live TV show together in front of the camera.
