Yeah, don't post anything. Oh wait...

EDIT: 'feed dat troll' is gone but u mad has just joined the forum.

and now 'nuppiz pls'. Uh Oh.

Mario and I are currently keeping all of his various accounts under control. But, in a world with easy-to-access proxies, it is not an easy task.

Thanks Nuppiz. That reassures me more. Is he the only one t have done this or have you had other cases as well?

Well, Dark77 reminded me on the chat about a feature that exists in pretty every forum software: the first post of a new user has to be approved by a moderator before they can post more. Think of it as a bouncer checking everyone's ID before letting them inside a bar.

We just need our admins (i.e. Jamie and Enoch) to enable this feature. It may sound harsh to make it compulsory for every new user, but what is there to stop Joey Zyla repeating his attack again if nothing is changed? Besides, I think we have enough active moderators to handle the approving process.

About Zyla, it looks that he's on the GeneRally forums, too. No sign of misconduct there, though. :|

Does listening to a dog licking its balls get you excited?

That's between me and my internet service provider.

Well, so long as you put a small piece in the sign-up explaining that all new members have to have their first post approved and a short explanation why, I'm sure 90% of people won't mind too much.

If Joey Zyla not a bot then he could easily just post a sensible first post and then we'll have to deal with him anyway. It'll stop bots but not trolls.

How crap does your life have to be that posting crap and getting banned over and over is the best possible use of your time?

I somehow think that we'd know it's him from the first post.

All we have to do is increase the amount of effort it takes to keep creating new accounts. Eventually we'll hit a threshold where he can't be bothered and goes away. This will go some way towards that.

It'd be extremely easy to bluff that first post.

Regarding all this, I sent Kuwashima a PM for him to take notice and see if he might be able to do something.

You're probably right. And if Zyla started bluffing accounts, we'd start suspiciously looking at every new member. Could he be Joey? Could he be Zyla in disguise? It would be a nightmare. What if he started a sleeper account and started posting spam after like three months?

Then again, I doubt he's intelligent enough for that.

reading this thread kinda amuses me, since on no other forums a simple operation like banning such a blatant troll-spammer could cause 5 pages worth of WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO OH NO -posts....really, how do you think other forums deal with these cases then (and they have more of them)? :D

just speaks good things about the community here that this is still such a new and scary situation for everybody....^^
