Superb tune once again from the Monkeys, but that video...

New albums from Franz Ferdinand, Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys, Manics, and Haim's debut album released within a month of each other. It's gonna be a great month. Might even give the new Kings of Leon record a listen or two, if it's any good.

Old skool beats!

Yeah, its been interesting to see the transition they've made, from their early work which was more hardcore drum and bass, to the slightly more commercialised drum and bass off their last album (Blind Faith, Let You Go, Time etc) to this, which is almost 90's rave-esque I'd say. What's also interesting is that they're bloody brilliant at everything they try their hands at! :P

These two songs accurately sum up my emotions today.

When I found out I hadn't got into the UEA, and then was pretty much told to bathplug off when I tried through Clearing.

It also happens to be my least favorite song in the entire world, on account of it being easily the most depressing song written in the last 25 years. And a hypocritical song as well, when you consider The Verve's early material.

When I found out about an hour ago that I had secured a place at UCS in Ipswich, studying English.

Challenge accepted! The song does get better the deeper into it, the first 2 minutes are the hardest!

To contextualise, this song was recorded on a lot of heroin. Luckily, ol' John's been clean in 1998 and has one of the best catalogues of music out there.

But I quite liked that when I listen to it! It's 30 minutes of interesting music, not 8 minutes of screaming.

On a partially related note, John Frusciante's new EP made its way to my door this morning. If you like rather experimental electronica, give it a try...

If not, have a song from Vampire Weekend; it's been stuck in my head for weeks.

I have the feeling that I actually discovered them through this forum, but on the chance that I didn't, I reckon you'd love Yellow Magic Orchestra.

There not really retro synthpop but I'm really enjoying CHVRCHES right now.

Currently watching them on Jools Holland tonight, and I didn't think they'd be my thing. But I actually quite like them. Gun is my favourite tune from them so far. :)

Pixies are also on tonight, and they're definitely missing something since Kim Deal left the group this year. :|
