If we're talking about the sort of accident prone form that Hamilton showed in 2011, perhaps the comparison might be a bit more valid (although Hamilton at least made up for some of his errors by actually winning races) - and I note that Canamasas also makes a comparison between himself and Alonso for good measure when mentioning his consistency. It's a shame for him that the results are nothing alike at the moment given that Canamasas is yet to score a single point in GP2...

GP2 ROTY Podium (so far)

3 Jake Rosenzweig: Hopelessly slow and miles off Haryanto. Rightly on no points when guys who've only done 5-6 races already have points while Rosenzweig has done all 14 races says it all

2 Sergio Canamasas: Too many incidents and accidents not all his fault but still some pretty dangerous driving has hurt him such as nearly carving up Ceccon in Bahrain amongst others. Like Rosenzweig he has started all 14 races so far and still not scored any points.

1 Johnny Cecotto: Where to start here? Forced Bird off the track in Malaysia Qualifying, Pulled that deliberate swipe on Canamasas in Spain, Causing the first lap pile up in Monaco and getting involved in the battle for 2nd when he was a lap down in Hungary. While Canamasas has been crap for years now Cecotto had just come off the back of 2 Wins and 4 podiums in 2012 and a trio of 5th places (one of which was his actions in Spain) is the best he's done this season. I never thought there was someone who could put Andy Neate to shame but Cecotto has well and truly done that this season

I think Cecotto should get first so far. He has been downright dangerous this season and has been turned into a feisty crocodile, eating and destroying anything in his path for over half the races. He has been on of the post stupid drivers in a long while. The fact he is allowed to race any car is beyond me.

Canamasas has had a few incidents this year and he has been crap for a while. He is being downright crushed by his teammate Rossi, who's first race in GP2 was when, Abu Dhabi 2011 and has been a regular points scorer and avoided most of the carnage? Canamasas needs to up his game. I would swap him with Rosenzweig because Rosenzweig has been dead slow the whole year, that counting for more than Canamasas's antics.

Canamasas would have scored points in the Barcelona sprint race if Cecotto hadn't tried to run him off the road, which backed everyone behind into each other at the chicane. Unbelievable stupidity.

True but apart from that race Canamasas has not even looked remotely like challenging for points hence why he's in the top 3 for GP2 ROTY at the moment.

I'd replace Rosenzweig with Abt at no. 3. Rosenzweig's performance has been pretty much expected thus far...on the other hand, Abt's performance is completely unexpected. Yes the ART is bad, but Abt's performances have been nowhere close enough to suggest that he was the guy who beat Vainio and Daly in the same team, with less GP3 experience....has been a huge disappointment.

Robin Frijns returns to Hilmer for Spa, replacing Jon Lancaster. Also, in GP3, Alexander Sims has been drafted in by Carlin to replace Eric Lichtenstein.

I am not sure how great a trade this is performance wise. Lancaster has been in excellent form with 2 race wins.

Great run from Berthon there, it seems he is riding a wave of confidence now. Palmer in 7th could be one to watch. Of course if it rains anything could happen.

The fact that a crashtastic pay driver with 0 points gets a 10 place grid penalty and STILL out qualifies the championship leader, something is very wrong here.

It's like I was saying; GP2 is largely devoid of great talents. That Coletti can have a decent gap despite scoring once from the last six races is a very bad sign.

He'd be the least deserving champion in GP2 history if he somehow holds on. No feature race wins and I can't remember any other champions having such a long period of mediocrity like Coletti has had. I reckon Marcus Ericsson would be close if not leading if he hadn't had such awful luck at the start of the season. He lost at least three feature race podiums in the first five meetings. In the two since, the only ones he actually had a clean run in, he hasn't finished lower than 2nd.

Yeah, it was a bit of a silly incident. However, I think De Jong also can lay claim to any criticism after cutting up Haryanto just before Eau Rouge.

Adderly Fong's assault on Patric Niederhauser was also very silly the GP3 race; the latter was minding his own business and Fong decided that braking was a thing of the past.

Coletti has now scored once in the last EIGHT races, and yet still leads the championship through sheer blind luck. He was running in the lower top 10, but I think his tyres died on him, which meant he got mugged by about 9 different drivers on one lap.

Great win for James Calado. He's now only 26 points away from the lead of the championship.

And of course, the weekend wouldn't be complete if Johnny Cecotto wasn't involved in some sort of incident, although this time it was Clos's fault.

Carlin take my ROTR nomination for wasting a good qualifying by having 2 disastrous pit-stops and a rare engine failure. RUSSIAN TIME are now on their tail in the TC now

It was all academic for Nasr anyway, who pulled over with an oil leak.

However, the unthinkable appears to have happened...Canamasas has scored! However, I'm unsure what the stewards' verdict on his battle with Cecotto is so far...so he might not hang onto them.
