Erm, yeah. I mean, I'll be excited about seeing racing on the streets of London, don't get me wrong, but with battery technology as it is at the moment, and with a 100m mid-race sprint to change THE WHOLE CAR because they can't refuel it quickly enough... That's a flawed concept. Just hope that they'll have the BTCC featuring on the race bill, with an F1 demo, so the public know what they're missing out on in terms of racing and noise respectively...

I think that the Formula E can be successful, because they provide the first competitive ground for all-electric vehicles (Although I'd prefer competition between different alternate fuel concepts like Hydrogen, Autogas and such). They also seem to be willing to embrace F1-like car development over the next years. I'm also surprised how decent they sound (really!), almost like fighter jets. But they really should go to real road courses over time. Or else they become electrified Champ/IndyCar. City courses are nice to create a buzz for a series, but they should cater to casuals and diehard race fans.

Holy jumping, if they do manage to find a way and manage to charge consistently, then the auto companies have got to take a good look at this technology. We wouldn't have to worry any more about having the car sit and wait while it charges.

They seem to be working on producing a system that can be installed temporarily for the race, although in the longer term they do seem to be hoping that the technology can be installed on a permanent basis in most cities (there are already a few experimental schemes in South Korea).

The technology does seem to be, in part, tricking across from the consumer electronics industry, but at the moment it looks like there are still issues with the efficiency of the process and standardisation of designs. Something like Formula E might increase awareness of such schemes, but I suspect that it'll still take a number of years for the system to become efficient enough and durable enough for it to be practical on a large scale.

They look like sportscar tyres. They're certainly 18-inch. Michelin re-using moulds again?

They do look suspiciously similar in terms of dimensions and profile - perhaps, given that the ACO is mandating slightly narrower tyres for 2014 onwards, Michelin are indeed reusing old moulds as a way of cutting costs. I also wonder how bespoke those tyre compounds really are, or if they also bear something of a passing resemblance to the compounds Michelin have developed for their sports car program...

But Mr Agag is not only interested in winning over traditional fans. He believes there is a new, younger audience to be captured.
There are ambitious plans to enhance the digital aspect of the series. A video game is in development that will allow fans watching TV to race in real time with the competitors.
Also, the racing cars will have a power-boost function to increase passing speed, and fans will be able to vote when it is used during the race.
There are plenty of broadband infrastructure and GPS positioning issues still to be resolved. "But it's all do-able," Mr Agag says. "We want fans to be able to interact."

As well as following the official Championship channels, you can also check out what the teams and drivers have been saying or get involved with competitions and even vote for your favourite driver who will receive an extra 'Push-to-Pass' - meaning you could directly affect the outcome of the race!

Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that pretty much every team makes less mistakes. And the fact that most of their results are largely down to the fact that their lead driver is Sebastien Bourdais. And the fact that their other driver is Sebastian Saavedra...

A vote-to-pass system has been announced for Formula E, meaning that people can give their favorite drivers a pace advantage by voting for them on Twitter. What a bathplugging joke.

It won't take long for all the teams to start working on automated-tweeting software to give their drivers an advantage.
