Presumably for Cammish this is a cost decision too? I'd imagine its easier and cheaper to get into BTCC than say Formula 3?

Reasons why Dan Cammish will NEVER make F1
1: To old (25)
2: publicly stated during an interview that we wants to race in the BTCC next year

Well I did say hopefully. I never said there's a good chance of it happening. Then again, he could be another Jan Magnussen or whoever that guy that was great in the feeder series but mediocre in F1 was.

You don't mean the Smiling Dad of F1, surely?

Wait, Cammish is 25? Suddenly, the lustre begins to wear off...

Yep. He's basically Andy Soucek circa 2009, albeit without being a massive jackass.

However dominant one driver may have been, or if there are questions around the overall size/quality of the field, so long as F Ford actually allows constructors, and at least engine builders/tuners if not manufacturers, to compete against each other (even if one may be numerically dominant, same as in F3), then it remains a breath of fresh air amongst all the other junior "Formulas" that are actually anything but.

Really hoping this FIA F4 thing takes off personally, one of the best ideas (not that there's much competition) to come out of the Place de la Concorde in a long time.

Well, if it does, it would mean 4 entry level series in Britain, with Formula Renault 1600 UK set to start from next year. That would make it too much, in my opinion. Other countries have one such series (ADAC Formel Masters in Germany, Signatech F4 in France, Formula Renault 1.6 NEC in Beneluxia, Formula Abarth in Italy, etc). Britain already has BRDC F4 and Protyre Formula Renault. It's becoming too crowded..

I've also heard that Italy's Formula Abarth is going to become an FIA F4 too..

Oh I don't disagree that the ladder is too crowded, guess my utopian vision which is probably never, ever, ever going to happen would be:

F1 - as it is
F2 - Merged GP2/FR3.5/AutoGP
F3 - Euro championship absorbs GP3, National F3 series as they are
F4 - National series merging F Renault/Ford/BMW/whatever else all under one rulebook.

Formula BMW is dead, unless you count the Talent Cup Final. It was held at Oschersleben last Sunday and was won by a Swedish 16 year old, Robin Hansson..

Godspeed, kid..

I liked it how it was:

F1
F3000 (or Indycar)
F3
Formula Ford
Karts

Simple.

Personally I would like to see:

F1
GP2 plus FR3.5
National F3 series
National F4 plus FFord

Plus I would like to see a strong international IndyCar series that was primarily American but also had rounds at Surfers Paradise, Montreal, plus at least two from Rockingham, Lausitz and Monza. My justification for wanting to see two strong series at each level is so that the FIA don't have a monopoly on series, but without diluting the talent pool too much by having too many series at each level. Of course, there typically tend to be more drivers at junior levels, so have more national series at those levels.

I suspect NASCAR would support the IndyCar teams racing on ovals that are more suited for the nature of open wheel cars as to leave the big banking for tin tops.

The two Euro-ovals were designed with IndyCar/ChampCar in mind, weren't they? Would still like to see a double-bill of IndyCar and Euro-Racecar/Euro-NASCAR at both ovals and Monza.

AutoGP is nowhere near the level of GP2/FR3.5

It is, in terms of car power. However, in terms of organisation and drivers (Vittorio Ghirelli, Robert Visoiu and Kevin Giovesi are probaby the only ones with a future in single seaters)...it's a class by itself (you know what I mean).

However, I've heard that they're planning bigger things for 2014. They are planning to convert the championship into a full-fledged World Series, with races in Mexico and the U.S. Also, they're planning to have a fully developed winter testing schedule.

Seems like Enzo Coloni has suddenly remembered about his hidden stash. ;)
