RUBENS BARRICHELLO

In all seriousness though, I think they are considering at least one Brazilian: Mr F.Massa

Yeah, he's in the mix for that seat. I think Lotus going for Felipe may be the best choice for the team, as experience may be key next year. As much as I hate to say Hülk is not the best choice for the team.

And that makes him a better choice than Hulkenberg, does it?

To add another name to the 'fun and surprising' pile: Daniel Abt.

He drives for ART in GP2, who were brought into the Bloatus fold when Bahar was throwing his weight around, and most would be surprised if Abt got into F1... at all, based on his current GP2 results.

Hulkenberg is a better driver these days, and a lot less inconsistent than Massa; any team that employs Grosjean needs to have a consistent driver

Well, at least, his son now won a karting championship, so why not sign Max Verstappen straigh from karting?

A few other possibilities: Nigel Mansell (still not officially retired), Stirling Moss, Nelson Piquet Jr., Plamen Kralev, Chanoch Nissany or Carmen Jordá.

Yes. And according to Ms. Kaltenborn Gutierrez is a legit talent. No team owner in their right mind would say "We are looking for someone to bring the ca-ching!" So do not discount richer drivers yet.

Your avatar says it all about Kaltenborn's statement. And possibly Boullier's new driver announcement as well. So don't give it up yet ;)

The gossip in the Singapore paddock was plentiful but the reality was thin on the ground. I believe that Jenson Button re-signed for McLaren, but no announcement was made. I expect Nico Hulkenburg to sign for Lotus soon and I have a feeling that we could see Adrian Sutil at Sauber.

Felipe Massa is hoping to get a ride somewhere, but the opportunities are thin on the ground. The good news for Felipe is that Mr E needs a Brazilian and will be very supportive as there are no real alternatives, as it seems that GP2 driver Felipe Nasr (which bizarrely rhymes with Massa) does not yet seem to be ready. However if he has the cash – and rumours suggest he does – he could find a berth somewhere at the back end where drives are traded.

The suggestion that Sutil might end up at Sauber is a little surprising - you would have thought that, between Sirotkin and Gutierrez (assuming that Hulkenberg is leaving Sauber), that Sauber was already full for 2014. The financial aspect - whether Sutil can also bring in enough sponsorship and points to make hiring him worthwhile - is not entirely clear too.
The other question that is worth asking is who might replace Sutil at Force India if he did indeed leave the team? Perhaps they might rush Calado from testing duties to a race seat?

Gets mine, too; we'd finally reach the critical mass of ultra-young drivers, and have a driver pairing in which one half drove in F1 for several years before the other was born.

Question, though: Is a potential Barrichello-Sirotkin pairing more or less odd than the Kobayashi-de la Rosa pairing Sauber have already had?
