Jordan, Plato and Shedden can win it, although really Shedden's out of it, as he needs to win, set fastest lap, have Jordan DNF again and Plato finish lower than 11th to retain the title.

Fingers crossed for Jordan to blast his way up the field in Race 3.

Jordan 389
Plato 374
Shedden 369

So Plato must finish on the Podium at least and hope Jordan doesn't score to win the title
If Plato gets the Win Fastest lap and leads the race Jordan must finish at least 8th to win the title

Finally caught up with live coverage, having watched the coverage "on delay". Been unexpected, would have expected the title to have been wrapped up by now. Would love to see Andy Jordan win this...

Come on Jordan come on Goff

ANDREW JORDAN IS WORLD CHAMPION!!!

Fantastic performance from him all season long and thoroughly deserved. Shedden ends the year on a high by snatching runner up spot by winning the last race. Jack Goff shows that he could be a force next year with 2nd and Mat Jackson gets a 2nd podium of the day by coming 3rd a nice end to his year

He's not world champion, it is BRITISH Touring cars.

F-O-K is partially right, Jordan is the champion and I find it annoying that if you win things like IndyCar or GP2 you aren't called World Champion like that.

That would be because those aren't officially sanctioned World Championships.

I was just hoping for anyone but Plato to win. And yes, a major coronary through the whole day!

And a Jordan fanboy? Better Andy than Eddie or Katie Price...

Based on what me and my dad saw yesterday from Brands Hatch, we reckon the Fords are going to be a force to be reckoned with. In fact, I'll put my avatar on the line if anyone thinks otherwise ;)

I think we will see the likes of Goff and Morgan on the top step of the podium. In fact, I reckon there are 16 drivers who can win races with 9 different cars amongst the drivers. It's such breadth of talent that makes the BTCC so competitive.

The champagne's only just been washed out of Andy Jordan's overalls, and already we have a couple of important announcements about the 2014 BTCC season.

1. Honda-Yuasa-Dynamics will switch from the Civic Type-R to a new unspecified model, to be revealed later in the year. I read a rumour in the official BTCC forums that the team may run a Honda Civic Estate, but I would take that with a pinch or two of salt. The Civics will be sold and whoever ends up with them will be worth watching next year.

2. Robb Holland's Rotek Racing team has abandoned its plans to enter the WTCC next season and will instead run two Audi A3s in the BTCC, for Holland and another yet-to-be-announced driver.
"One day Bruno told me that he had heard the engine momentarily making a strange sound; his suspicion was that all the cylinders had been operating."

And the BTCC silly season madness continues, as Dan Welch confirms he''s building a second Proton for 2014.

I wonder just how many cars will be on the grid next spring, because NGTC builds seem to be sprouting out of every corner of the country. Let's run through who's likely to be on the grid.

Team Dynamics - 2x Honda of some sort (perhaps the new Accord?)
Gordon Shedden, Matt Neal

Can't see any change here for the short-term, but I wonder just how many more seasons Neal has got in the tank.

Triple 8 - 2x MG 6
Jason Plato, Sam Tordoff

Again, why change a winning combo? Plato will be around for a few more seasons as well.

West Surrey Racing - 2x/3x BMW 1-series
Rob Collard, Colin Turkington, ????????

This is where it gets interesting, as Nick Foster apparently agreed to a three year project with WSR, He has now done three seasons with the team, so I don't think he'll be back next season. WSR will do anything to keep Turkington in the car, and Collard is pretty much part of the furniture there. One wonders if they'll downsize to two cars in order to keep Turkington for 2014.

Motorbase - 2x/3x Ford Focus
Mat Jackson, Aron Smith, Tom Onslow-Cole

The car seems to be finally sorted, and currently they have one of the strongest driver partnerships on the grid. The question is, do they continue to run all three cars next season as they are, or will they have to call up Liam Griffin and put him in one of the cars? :|

Pirtek Racing - 2x Honda Civic
Andrew Jordan, ???????

The reigning champion will be back for sure, but I don't think Jeff Smith will be, which leaves a great car free. Mike Jordan, please sign Lea Wood.

Speedworks - 2x Toyota Avensis
Dave Newsham, Ollie Jackson

Can't see any change there. They'll keep Jackson for his money surely, and Newsham's still good.

Dan Welch - 2x Proton Persona
Dan Welch, ???????

Pretty much a certainty David Nye isn't returning.

Rob Austin - 2x Audi A4
Rob Austin, Will Bratt/Jake Hill

A choice between Bratt or Hill at the moment, but who knows.

Andy Neate - 2x Chevrolet Cruze
Andy Neate, ????????

Neate is selling his "old" Cruze which he raced to very limited effect this season, and is building two new ones for 2014. A given that Neate will be driving/crashing one of them, but maybe he could do a Chris James, and stick a talented driver in the other car? Lea Wood? Or maybe, a pairing of Neate and Ollie Chadwick. Now that would be dynamite. ;)

Ciceley - 1x Mercedes A-Class
Adam Morgan

Now this is intriguing. Morgan was one of the most improved drivers on the grid this season, and he has a brand new Merc at his disposal.

Rotek - 2x Audi A3
Robb Holland, ???????

A battle between them and Rob Austin's team is on the cards.

I have no idea what's going on with Tony Gilham's barmy army (they'll probably have the Royal baby and Dennis the Menace driving if this season was anything to go by  ), or Warren Scott. Best to see how that all works out. Ditto Chris Stockton with his Cruze, who never turned up this season. And the NGTC Renault Meganes that someone is supposedly building. And who knows what Chris James is up to...

There'll be two race-winning Honda Civics up for sale, as well as Adam Morgan's Toyota, and Andy Neate's Chevrolet, so keep an eye out for them. There'll probably be a second Toyota up for grabs as well as, if local media reports are to believed, Frank Wrathall will probably be behind bars instead of the grid for 2014... :|

His 2nd half of the year has compromised by illness but I think it's down to some of his shoddy racecraft and how he overtakes people. East Londoner's reaction to Smith knocking Rob Austin out of the lead kind of said a lot and then with his team-mate behind him with 2 laps to go he suffered an Andy Neate heartbreak moment by chucking it off the road under no pressure whatsoever. An abysmal showing at Snetterton where he seemed to be caught up in incidents all weekend are a couple of lighting rod moments too

Nope.

It would be stupid to throw him straight into the sport as teammate to the reigning champion, driving for the perpetual independent champions. Maybe an occasional appearance for Motorbase (Ford connection along with anything to stop Liam Griffin getting a decent seat :P ), but not a season at Pirtek. Jordan would slaughter him

How about his whole 2008 season where he finished 2nd overall in his family-run BMW? Or 2011, where he led the standings after Snetterton before he had all the bad luck that year? Or Silverstone in 2012, where he went from the back of the grid to win in race 2?

Here's my take.

Team Dynamics - 2x Honda of some sort (perhaps the new Accord?)
4. Matt Neal
52. Gordon Shedden

This lineup will remain until Neal eventually retires I would think.

Triple 8 - 2x MG 6
88. Sam Tordoff
99. Jason Plato

I see no reason to change the lineup although I wonder if a 3rd car for Tom Ingram could be a possibility.

Eurotech Racing 2x Honda Civic?
1. Andrew Jordan
55. Jeff Smith?

Despite his awful racecraft and lack of anything above a 10th place from Oulton onwards, Jeff will probably be back for his wallet. Although as said above I would love to see Lea Wood finally get a good car.

West Surrey Racing - 3x BMW 1-series
5. Colin Turkington
15. Rob Collard
18. Nick Foster

Nick Foster will probably stay, he's no future title contender but he's solid enough for a gentleman driver.

Motorbase Performance - 2x/3x Ford Focus
6. Tom Onslow-Cole
8. Mat Jackson
9. Aron Smith

The car seems to be finally sorted, and currently they have one of the strongest driver partnerships on the grid. The question is, do they continue to run all three cars next season as they are, or will they have to call up Liam Griffin and put him in one of the cars? :|
I pretty much agree, Motorbase seem to be more stable financially than in 2011 when they first hired Griffin so hopefully they won't need him now.

Speedworks - 2x Toyota Avensis
17. Dave Newsham
48. Ollie Jackson

Can't see any obvious changes either unless they hire someone completely random from the lower categories.

Rob Austin Racing - 2x Audi A4
13. Rob Austin
14. Jake Hill

As much as I like Will Bratt, Jake Hill looks to be the better driver. There was a mad suggestion on twitter however that Austin and Welch would join forces a couple of days ago.

Welch Motorsports - 2x Proton Persona
10. Dan Welch
12. David Nye?

Finally we will see that second Proton after first being rumoured for 2012. I can see David Nye getting the drive again for his money and the fact he's been associated with the team for quite a few years.

Tony Gilham Racing - 2x Vauxhall Insignia, 1x/2x Volkswagen Passat
16. Aiden Moffat?
22. Howard Fuller?
29. Paul O'Neill?
31. Jack Goff?
34. Tony Gilham?

Both Insignias will surely be back after nearly winning in the last race, and hopefully they will get a 2nd Passat built over the winter. Goff will surely be back and the team say they are hoping to sign O'Neill full time. Tony himself has expressed interest in returning to racing in the series but his team manager position will come first. Then I hope Fuller will finally get the chance to run full time. Aiden Moffat could be another possibility.

IP Tech - 2x Chevrolet Cruze
44. Andy Neate
45. Mike Bushell

Strangely Neate is selling his "old" Cruze which he raced to very limited effect this season, and is building two new ones for 2014 meaning he'll probably be in the same situation next year as the start of this year with the cars progress. A given that Neate will be driving/crashing one of them and I can see Mike Bushell in the other after running well at Knockhill.

Dynojet - 1x Toyota Avensis
11. Frank Wrathall?

Dynojet and Wrathall should be back as long as Wrathall is a free man by next season. :? If not I hope the team stick around anyway and hire someone else.

Ciceley Racing - 1x Mercedes A-Class
33. Adam Morgan

Now this is intriguing. Morgan was one of the most improved drivers on the grid this season, and he has a brand new Merc at his disposal.

BMR Restart Racing - 1x Volkswagen Passat
39. Warren Scott

Warren seems to have the ability to run midfield in this car (6th in Silverstone 2nd practice was impressive) and hopefully the car will be more reliable.

Team Wood Racing - 1x Toyota Avensis?
43. Lea Wood

Assuming Lea isn't hired elsewhere, expect his team to be back with a second hand NGTC car. Hopefully Morgan's Avensis.

AMD Essex - 1x Vauxhall Astra?
40. Shaun Hollamby?

I would be surprised if AMD weren't back. Hopefully with that NGTC Astra they were planning on building for the second half of this season until their expected entry slot inexplicably went to Neate's second car which never once looked like showing up. No idea who would be in the car though, I doubt James Kaye would be back since he only returned for the Jack Sears Trophy.

BTC Racing - 1x Chevrolet Cruze
28. Chris Stockton

Will surely be able to get the hatchback Cruze out there as long as someone sponsors them. The car is virtually ready by this point just with no money to get it out there.

Rotek Racing - 2x Audi A3
35. Robb Holland
???????

Will be intriguing to see how Holland does fulltime and as a team owner. The second seat has been suggested to be going to another American driver.

There are some hot rumours coming from Italy:

The Superstars Series suffered from a low car count in this season. Rather than sticking their heads into the sand, they're trying to make an entry into Superstars more appealing to teams. Namely, there a two rumoured measures:

- Reviving the French motorsport scene by starting a French Superstars series.
- Cooperating with the BTCC, to devise a BoP which will equalize BTCC and Superstars cars. Theoretically, cars could then appear in the other series.

The only source at the moment is Italian, though: http://motorsportrants.com/superstars/s ... il-futuro/

Could this be a back-door measure to create a "BTCC European Trophy"? By allowing NGTC cars into Superstars, the overall grid could be increased, while allowing an European trophy to be contended by only a handful of BTCC teams (I doubt that most teams in BTCC have the money to travel all over Europe).

On a related note: I think that the BTCC should really look for a partner series in continental Europe. STCC using NGTC in 2012 was a good idea in theory, but due to lots of factors, that idea went to nowhere. Superstars on the other hand has some solid reputation in Europe. Not the DTM level, but still solid.

I also wonder why e.g. Audi UK doesn't tell the BTCC teams that they can only use one Audi model. It looks a bit strange to see an A4 battling an A3 on equal ground.

Because Audi doesn't really give a shite. Rob Austin's been flying the flag for Audi until now, but he doesn't really have much factory support, that's why it's been really touch and go for him and his team at some points.

Does listening to a dog licking its balls get you excited?

That's between me and my internet service provider.

Well he might make the front if he buys the TDR Civics and manages to score someone of Newsham's caliber again. Though he will of course be at the back regardless.
