Giovanardi tops the time sheets

41 year old Fabrizio Giovanardi topped the time sheets on the first day of the 2nd winter test in goodwood, a very cold goodwood however with temperatures only reaching 4c and a light sprinkling of snow during the session.

His Alfa Romeo teammate James Thompson was 2nd rounding off the perfect day for the italian firm. Early on however this was not case as Jason Plato topped the sheets but his seat developed a gearbox problem so he had to sit out he rest of the day, teammate Turner crashed early on meaning the Seat Sport U.K team got very little data. the other seats were in a line , practice their slipstream undoubtably for Monza where this would be an asset. The kings of Kyalami, Honda struggled to find any pace and were at the foot of the time sheets, the final times and results are listed below.

Day 1:
1. Fabrizio Giovanardi 1:21.111 (Alfa 156)
2. James Thompson. 1:21.666 (Alfa 156)
3. Vitaly. Petrov. 1:22.190 (Lada 110)
4. Andy Priaux. 1:22.191 (BMW 320I)
5.Dirk Muller 1:22.251 (BMW 320I)
6. Jason Plato. 1:22.259 (Seat Leon)
7. Yvan Muller. 1:22.356 (Seat Leon)
8. Jordi Gene. 1:22.666 (Seat Leon)
9.Alex Zanardi. 1:22.985 (BMW 320I)
10 Rob Huff. 1:23.411.(Chevy Lacetti)
11. Alex Wurz. 1:24.501 (Honda Integra)

BMW finally show their hand and dominate day 2 while the Volvo gets it's first run.

2007 champions BMW and Andy Priaux looks as though they are now showing their hand as they dominated day 2 at goodwood.
Review of all teams days
BMW team one: Only Andy Priaux turned up for team 1 today with Agusto getting the car tomorrow and other testing arrangements to be decided later on. Anyway it was a very productive day for the team, in the morning they worked on upgrades and base Setup work and in the afternoon they worked on raw speed which they have a lot of.

BMW team Germany: Braught both drivers unlike BMW team 1, however this team had a much worse day that the other BMW team which un reliability plaguing their morning meaning that they had to split setups in the afternoon which Dirk doing race runs and Jorge doing base setup and upgrades.

BMW italia spain: Today the car was driven by Zanardi again and the italian had am awful day, in the morning and engine. Blow up kept him in the pits and he binned it in the afternoon while doing long runs.

Seat sport U.K: Ricard Rydell and Gabrelli Tarquini fronted the squad today, the car has not changed much from last year apart from now having a brand new petrol engine however this team has been the disappointment, the car is whoefully slow and hideously unreliable, when the car was not in the pits it was pulling over to the side of the track, this team must improve of it wants to mount a serious title challenge.

Chevy: Nicola Larini drove the car today which is much like last years car, the team were solid but quiet today slowly chugging out the most mileage of most the question for them is will missing South Africa hurt them, only time will tell.

Austria-Hungaria: Did. It take part in day 2 due to divers illness

Volvo: A very productive day for this much loved new team, the car was driven by ROC winner Mattias Ekstrom today, the car got its first moments on track and with no teething problems reported it seems good, and the car is fast too.

Lada: Once again driven by Russian rocket Vitaly Petrov, Lada had and O.K day, they fixed teething issues from day 1 and although slow they did get lots of tyre data in.

Vw: Andreas Mikkleson was behind the wheel of the Golf today, his target was to learn touring cars, the car seems very reliable but slow.

Honda; What has happened to the Japaneese squad since South Africa? Today they got no running due to a Broken fuel pump.

Ford: Tom Chilton took the car out today however he did 1 flyer and we saw nothing of him again.
