Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
I think Button will be thoroughly, comprehensively, Kovalainenly beaten by Hamilton in F1 2010. Here's something I was thinking: everyone says Lewis is too hard on the tyres and will struggle because of the lack of pit-stops in 2010. But we also know how precious "our Jens" can be when the setup is not quite right. Button is a fast, capable driver if the car is just so, but F1 2010 is going to require adaptation. And Lewis seems a lot better at getting on with the job when the car isn't perfect.
Stay home, Colin Kolles!
Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
No, he may beat him heavily but I'm almost certain that Button will still be alive on 1 January 2011. And if he isn't Lewis won't have had anything to do with it.
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.
Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
Lewis is probably the best driver in F1 at the moment (only if Schumi does not return to his best in 2010) so it will be difficult for Jenson to compete. I can imagine Lewis will out-qualify him most of the time but Jenson will be closer in races.
Based on the evidence of last year Lewis does seem to have the Michael Schumacher ability of wrestling a fairly average car to the front somehow as demonstrated in 2009. Jenson could have maybe done a little better in 2009 such as in the second half of the season. Still he is one of the best drivers out there.

"Lap 20 and I do hope for the sake of the gallant hard trying Simtek team that their car with Jos Verstappen keeps running, his team mate Schiattarella is also still running in 13th place but Jos Verstappen from Holland..is in sixth position!"

But will Button press charges for the assault?
Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
I admit that I am wary of these sorts of questions, because it can rapidly turn into a battle between fans.
For what it is worth, at the very least Button should be stronger in the races then Heikki was. Over the last season, whilst Button may have struggled in qualifying, he was still scoring points on race day when rivals were throwing away their chances.
At the very least, Button should offer a more consistant race pace, and that is something which McLaren need - they need a driver who will pick up points for them when the chances come round, because points have gone wanting for too long. It is probably the case that, over a single lap or a short stint, Hamilton would be the faster driver in most instances - but I can see Button making better judgements on strategy calls, and knowing when it is worth risking the car and when it is better to take the points. So, I do believe that Hamilton will have the better of Button, but I think that Button will do better then most people think he will.

Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
I think that it will actually be a lot closer than everyone is thinking... Ok Lewis is pretty THE quickest driver in F1 now, and probably the last ten-fifteen years. He is a special talent, BUT Jenson is no slouch, and wasn't gifted the Championship on a silver platter. Put two of the better drivers in F1 in the same car and they will be very close to each other (Massa/Raikkonen, Vettel/Webber) despite one being deemed a lot better than the other...
I can see Lewis coming out on top, and he's actually my tip for the championship, especially given last year being a maturing, testing year for him. But JB will definitely win a couple of races, and may just wipe the grin off Lewis' face at a fair few events.
They are definitely one of the stronger line-ups we've seen in the last few years, up there with the last, fated McLaren line-up, and with McLaren's excellent engineering resources (and hopefully lessons learned from last year) they are definitely in a better position than say Ferrari (great driver line-up, but suffering a bit of an engineering brain drain) to grab both titles next year..

No, he won't be murdered by Hamilton, just because Ron Dennis will do it for him.

+1
I see Hamilton beating Button on a pretty consistent basis, but Button will graft his way up the field, rather than slide anonymously down the points Kovy-style.

I'm just going to bide my time until after Captain Hammer's enraged post.
Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
The 2010 regs will favour Jenson over Lewis in terms of basic driving style. But Hamilton can adapt better. Besides, the team hasnt been dubbed "McLewis" for no reason. Hamilton will make sure that he gets the better end behind the scenes (it eventually forced Alonso out, although his ego probably didnt help)
I cant see it desending into too much of an on track battle though, Jenson is too sensible for that. If it does, then it will almost certainly be caused by Lewis
Why am I suddenly feeling I have been thrown back to 1988?

Gobs, I reckon Captain Hammer has stopped replying to this sort of discussion. He's clearly more interested in the goings-on in the teams, has held his own that Button will beat anyone on the grid, and doesn't seem too interested in mucking about. He has clearly shown wisdom.

Mclaren= Lewis hamilton Racing
What happened with Alonso when he won his title with Renault in 2006?
Even though he has gone Ron Dennis orders will still be at Lewis Hamilton Racing err sorry Mclaren
Button in my view is better. But he wont do well as he is number 2

I just realised Button will drive the #1 car and Hamilton the #2 car...oh the irony.

Shush. I was just using it as a copout.
Re: Will Button be 'murdered' by Hamilton in F1 2010?
I think Button will be fine. Hamilton showed last year that he falls completely to pieces in the back of the grid car, so I think the notion of him making something out of nothing is a bit of myth. Hamilton will probably edge it, due to continuity, but Button is fast and efficient and will more than hold his own.

Frankly it doesn't matter what Button and Hamilton do because Kobayashi will be the big star in 2010.
( There that should do it. )
"Other than the car behind and the driver who might get a bit startled with the sudden explosion in front, it really isn't a major safety issue from that point of view,"
