On a side note Gutierrez has been given a 10 place grid drop for his inexcusable move on Maldonado while Chilton's reward for performing some impeding even Narain Karthikeyan would have been impressed with is a drive through penalty which he must serve within the first 5 laps of the race

That's Ricciardo in the top 10 then with a choice of tyres. Hopefully he can actually translate that into points, Toro Rosso have been poor lately.

Has anyone else ever been given a drive through penalty pre-race? I don't recall this ever happening before, so Max Chilton may be on for a new record here

I think Pic had to in Japan and he still beat Chilton. Shocking

I don't think he will finish the race and if that continues it may be too much for him to compete in Brazil??
It raises the question of why he was passed as fit to race this weekend - although he was initially judged to be OK, if somebody is complaining about constant headaches and blood pressure problems this far after the event, surely the FIA's medical staff should be asking whether it really is a wise idea to let him drive. I would have thought that comments like that might have been ringing a few alarm bells - it wouldn't be the first time that a driver was initially proclaimed to be fit to race and then had to be withdrawn (just ask Perez after his accident in Monaco).

You've got an hour and 15 minutes approximately. As for the weather, I don't know.

No he won't, he'll just make another poor start (he is on the dirty side of the grid too). Looking at the stats, 6 times this year Ricciardo has finised lower than where he started and it seems as though he hasn't fixed his weakness from last year. He really needs to do that in 2014.

I think that the dirty side of the grid won't make as much of a difference this year as it did at last year's race. The pavement has aged and has been used quite a bit since it's first event, so there should be less of an advantage for drivers on the clean side.

Of course Motogp raced here back in April but what other racing series have been at Austin since?

V8 Supercars, WEC and ALMS are the ones I know.

With the grid walk going on, it raises the question of what is going on with Hamilton's brakes in these past few races? The team had to strip the braking systems down and replace the rear brake disks in Abu Dhabi after vibration issues, whilst this weekend they are bleeding the front brakes on the grid after Hamilton was reporting excessive brake travel on the lap to the grid.

He also had the brakes fixed in Germany when he was on pole?

He really is heading for ROTR isn't he
So for the battles that really matter
Mercedes are looking good to keep second place with Lewis
Massa is doing nothing in 13th and Alonso is nowhere near Hamilton in 7th. But Rosberg needs to move up from 11th
Caterham and Marussia- Not today I feel for Caterham. Anyway Bianchi is leading that group.
