La Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:Agyemang-Badu comandeered by Alitalia, Aeroracing in crisis
A crisis has emerged at Aeroracing Engineering, after the faltering Spanish F2RWRS team had their lead driver taken away from them by backer Alitalia.
Marcel Agyemang-Badu, reigning F2RWRS champion, had suffered a string of DNPQs this year thanks to the two-driver rule, has had his early championship challenge destroyed by not being able to race on several occasions, and being taken out in incidents when he has made the races - most notably by his own IBR stablemate Dan Greenlaw on two seperate occasions.
"This was a difficult decision to make, but we believe a necessary one," said Alitalia team principal Andera Sassetti. "We have escaped pre-qualifying again, thanks to the efforts of Greenlaw and Case. Now we are here, we want to give the drivers in the best position a chance of success this season. We believe this change is the best way in whcih to achieve this success."
The switch is rumoured to have significantly damaged relations between IBR and Aeroracing, however it has also been suggested that the change may be nothing more than a direct switch, with Andrej Kremnicky possibly going in the other direction to fill the void left by Agyemang-Badu.
Johnston hails return to form, hopes Simon can relaunch F1RWRS career
After Marie Simon's brilliant victory at Zandvoort, Brett Johnston has nothing but praise for the new Aston Martin driver. "We're very happy for the victory today," said Johnston. "This victory puts us back in the championship hunt. We need to get more victories in order to sustain our championship hopes." He also added that the unreliability of the competitors has led to a very close championship. "We came in 7th in the championship, we're coming out 2nd. This championship is very close and we need all the points that we can get. A win is a spectacular bonus." The victory comes off from former Aston driver Alessandro Marchesi being suspended for the rest of the season and later sacked. Johnston said that he hopes Marchesi will "find another suitable career" after his controversial exit from the series. Meanwhile, Jordan Davies, last year's F3RWRS champion, capped off another disappointing race with a retirement while in a podium position. "His performances this season so far have not been up to standard. Nonetheless, we shall fully support him and we hope he can contribute to the championship standings."

OoC: McKane won't be allowed to compete in the F2. I mean, someone who nearly won an F1 world title would be a gamebreaker in the series. Akria Yamamura will drive the car for Monaco, but is available for every race after it bar Mexico. I'll let Aeroracing, RRR and company sort it out after Monaco.

Andrea Sassetti wrote:Ok, for sure, it was risky to change the lineup once again, but finally, we have a good result in qualifying. 2nd and 4th is a great place to start - Lamberigts should not pose much of a threat if our guys overtake him in the first couple of laps. But ok, it's still a dangerous situation - both our cars haven't really been on the track next to each other at any point this season, but now they are in a position to fight each other. We have told them, there is no team order, but you must be careful around each other. The two guys are 16 and 18 points from the championship lead, and Torrente is down in 8th, with still 7 races left, they can make a statement here, and I think both of them are hoping to prove a point. But still, we must be careful of Cara, he tends to blow hot and cold, and today he seems to be quite close to boiling point.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:Kremnicky-Alitalia contract officially terminated
Andrej Kremnicky's contract with Scuderia Alitalia has been rescinded with immediate effect, revelealed during a post-qualifying interview with IBR CEO Alessandro Linari.
"Kremnicky's form is not of our concern anymore, the contract has been terminated," he stated. "Sometimes people forget that racing driver is a job rather than a hobby. Unfortunately Andrej's performance and mentality towards his job was not satisfactory. We did not want this decision to be made, but, it was important to bring the team back to a good position."
"It is quite sad it had to end in this way, but sometimes in life, partnerships can take a bad turn and not be able to recover."
The Slovakian has already transferred to rivals Aeroracing, with Marcel Agyemang-Badu going in the other direction. However, after being blocked by Mitchell Macklin in pre-qualifying, Kremnicky failed to qualify for the Monaco GP.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:Greenlaw benched following Monaco antics
Dan Greenlaw has been suspended by his team indefinitely, after causing yet another retirement to Alitalia stablemate Marcel Agyemang-Badu by crashing.
The American racer rammed his team-mate from behind at the opening corner of the Monaco GP, causing Agyemang-Badu to retire on the spot and ruin his already slim chances of winning the title this season. This follows on from a similar incident at A1 Ring, where Greenlaw lunged at Badu from behind, pitching Badu into a wall.
"Dan Greenlaw has been suspended indefinitely from his driving duties at Scuderia Alitalia with immediate effect," read a statement released by the team. "Mr Greenlaw defied direct instructions from the team, and in the process endangered the safety of not only other drivers in the sport, but that of his own team-mate. Such blatant disregard for those within their own organisation is not taken lightly at Scuderia Alitalia, and we felt no other alternative was possible."
Alitalia have yet to nominate a replacement, but it is believed that Tomo Kazama may be used as immediate relief for the suspended Greenlaw at Spa-Francorchamps.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:Linari slams "desperate" Jones after Greenlaw poach attempt
Alessandro Linari has yet again voiced criticism against arch rivals Jones Racing, this time following a public reaching-out by the British squad to hire Alitalia driver Dan Greenlaw.
"I think Sammy Jones needs a dictionary," quipped Linari. "Suspended and terminated are two different words. The second he sees a driver who isn't racing, he's sniffing all up in their junk, desperate to pick off the scraps falling off the edge of other teams."
"There's no denying Alitalia have had a rocky season, but nothing as bad as the awful season Jones have run. They have two talentless hacks at the wheel and the second they see another driver who might be leaving their current squad, they are becoming desperate to jump at them. It's hardly surprising, their F2RWRS outfit is a shambles."
"Greenlaw failed to conduct himself in a proper manner and is being punished for this, but it doesn't mean his entire career at Alitalia is over. He's still a very young lad and is learning some important lessons. However, just because a driver is benched for disciplinary reasons, doesn't suddenly make him a free agent."
Greenlaw has been replaced by Tomo Kazama for the next round at Spa-Francorchamps, but it remains to be seen when the American driver will return.
"Greenlaw's suspension will end depending on how he copes with this development. His reaction to recent events will make a big difference either way to how quickly he returns to the cockpit."

Autosport wrote:"Linari ruins drivers' careers" blasts Jones
Sammy Jones has responded angrily to comments made by Alitalia boss Alessandro Linari over the Italian team's wayward American driver Dan Greenlaw. Jones looked set to swoop for the out-of-favour Greenlaw who has been suspended by his current team for continuing on-track antics but Linari has rebuffed Jones' attempts, brandishing Sammy as "desperate".
Jones has shot back at the Italian however, likening him to "a fat kid clinging to his fizzy cola bottles" over the issue of Greenlaw. Scuderia Alitalia's young driver program gets a thorough examination as well, which Jones says is "a shambolic mess of ridiculous contracts and performance clauses". Linari and Alitalia, are Jones says, "career-ruiners", hoarding young drivers and leaving rival teams "with the sh*t at the bottom of the barrel".
His full response to Linari to the media on the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix follows:
"Linari is like a fat kid in a sweet shop, he doesn't want anyone else having drivers as good as his. This creates a problem where we have half of the F2RWRS grid running drivers that are meant to be part of some organised program but is in fact a shambolic mess of ridiculous contracts and performance clauses. You've only got to look at the way that Kremnicky has been treated recently to see that, for Linari, nothing else matters except that rival teams are left with the sh*t at the bottom of the barrel. If you remember in 2014, Andrej was meant to be the future F1RWRS champion if you believed the horseshit spouting from Alitalia and instead less than two seasons later he's out on his arse because he's had a bit of a tricky year. The same is now happening with Greenlaw. According to the hype earlier this year he was going to walk away with the championship with races to spare and yet here we are at the tail end of said season with Greenlaw out of the Alitalia car. I'm merely trying to give obvious talent such as Greenlaw a proper chance to demonstrate his abilities.
"You'll notice I've had Johannes Rueckert in my car for two seasons now, and whilst his performances haven't been anything like good enough, I've at least had the dignity to give him the chance without firing him halfway through the year. If Linari wants to cling to Greenlaw like a fat kid clinging to his fizzy cola bottles then he can be my guest. When all the F1RWRS teams are wondering where all the supposed "talent" has disappeared to, they can look straight at Linari as he hordes them in his basement farming them out to teams with no hope in hell of even qualifying for races. The fact of the matter is, Linari and Alitalia are career-ruiners. Young drivers and their managers would be wise to avoid that bunch of Italian idiots like the plague."
Diego Alvarez Torrente wrote:If you take the qualifying into account, this race was amazing! I thought it was all over after my pitstop, but clawing it back to 5th is a really nice thing to happen.
